This one is saying: "Look, Gail - I survived Syrumani!!"

Syrumani... what is the name of the strep in the first photo?
I would really like to buy a leaf or baby plant of Thompson's 'Helter Skelter' if anyone knows where I can find it!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Va_Wild_Rose! The convention is coming up soon in your neck of the woods. Beautiful photos everyone! Lucky bemedel has Helter Skelter and it is one pretty strep blossom.
Irish Flirt looks like a little showplant.
Thanks Heidi, I haven't forgotten... I do hope to get over there on Friday... otherwise, I will be out of town the rest of the weekend. Will there be vendors there with stuff for sale? If so, I may be in trouble! :o)
VA_Wild_Rose - the picture in the first post is called Fancy Pants. It is a wonder to me that it has survived long enough to bloom, and there is a second one on the way! Not 20 minutes after Gail put this in a box tray with a dozen other plants did I take a nose dive in her driveway!
Thanks, GoldLeaf91011 . . . I had been thinking about that! I've got my eye on a few other ones, too . . .
I have never even seen Helter Skelter even available anywhere. Wonderful closeup of Rio das Pedros. I may have to get my camera out and see if I can get good closeups of the mini sinningias in bloom.
Meant to tell you, Syrmani, that I have never seen anyone 4 months into learning to grow avs and you are already a pro. That Irish Flirt is just wonderful looking!!!!!!

What wonderful photos!
Aw, shucks. ^_^
I do need to add, though, that I'm still uncomfortable with repotting AV's. I think I do it all wrong, and make a terrible mess at the same time. I'm thinking I'll talk to someone about this at our next AV meeting . . . someone did say he would need to bring in some help at some point . . . I could go in for 4 hours on 3 different days . . .

Irish Flirt has a high bud count looks like. I would seriously consider that one, syrumani.
WVR...the showroom and the commercial sales do not open until 9:00 am Saturday the 15th.

I saw this photo of Sinningia arenosa and just had to post it here!!I This picture is from gesneriphiles(used with permission) taken at the Lone Star show in Wichita Falls, Texas. I wish I had been there to see some of these in person! The credit for this photo goes to Sky--thanks for letting me share!
I wish I could have gone, but that was just too far for me. I've been trying very hard not to send Ken an email, asking for details! I'll just wait until next Wednesday, 'cause the program for that AV meeting is reports on the show.
What a lovely Sinningia. Thanks for sharing Hillbilly_Gran.Wild_Rose,I really enoyed yours, too.
Lynn
I just emailed Marjorie Bullard, our local president who takes pictures of all the shows to see if she knew if pictures of the 2008 Wichita state show were somewhere. WAiting for a response.
****edited to say I won't get a response.........just remembered that she didn't go to Wichita for the state show as she is still in Greece on vacation.

Sky posted several pictures on gphiles--but I only asked about using this one.
Isn't Sky that girl from Maine? She used to post on here.....................
Has anyone ever ordered plants from Florals of Fredericksburg? They have a great catalog on line..................just curious.........good choices..........but I don't know anything about the quality.
No i think Sky is from Montana and now lives in Texas
JIM
I have no idea where she is from-- I just e-mailed and asked to post her photo here ^_^
My knowledge of Florals of Frederick (sp?) is this. I placed an order with them years ago as I too was impressed with their catalog of plants. I did receive some of the plants I ordered. Guess when? One full year later! I so wished they hadn't sent them. They were the ugliest most hideous plants I have ever seen. They looked like they should have seen a trash can a long time ago and that's where they went immediately when I took one look at them. I carried that trash bag out and the box they were in outside right away and washed my hands it seemed like 20 times and changed my clothes and put my clothes in the washer.
How they are now, I have no idea and have no intention finding out.
The owners name was Droege and I remember she got sick and her whole place went to rack and ruin but they still sent out all that garbage. Someone else has taken over but I don't know what kind of stuff they are selling/peddling now. She has hybridized some good plants over the years though and many of her varieties start with the prefix Aly's. Shw may not be living anymore.
the place is closed now,it was too far gone to do anything with from what I was told
they had good streps or at least did when I ordered them
JIM
I just happened to be at the tail end of all that mess and was so disgusted anyone had the nerve to sell and ship that expletive deleted. I saw where they were selling the remnants on Ebay after that.
. It must have been better at one time. Anything would have been.
Thanks for the information. I have to remember that old cliche.........if it sounds too good to be true it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Won't be ordering from them...........
great...........see, everyone has something blooming. I love the foliage on KeeWee, too.
I just had to spray all my plants.........so the pictures of some scrawny ones I have I will post tomorrow..............
That is very pretty!!!
