Betty, I don’t have a goblin, but I do have a little monster that’s going to drive me crazy till about 6pm. I love holidays, I get really frustrated before holidays, and this one especially. I still have to put the finishing touches on my costume (all but from scratch since Wed.) and finish decorating outside; I also only got four hours sleep last night. Meant to take a nap while Sage was at school, but never got around to it. DH just got home so that should help.
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #66 visit with friends...
Oh My Gosh,
You will never beleive this, I don't beleive it, but
I started a fire...it is such a gorgeous night, Pulled my chair off the deck and just sat down to
reflect and what did I see...Right here in the city but a Shooting Star!! Never, have I seen this here.
Wow!!
EEEk...He looks awsom Betty!
A sign Judy Babe that all will be ok..your big sister who has gone on just gave you a sign...you above all people know these things can happen...
Greg/Mel and the boys were going to the 'fright shack/field' that used to be near where I lived on the farm...they bus people in, the young lad and his family have done a wonderful job...very unique, scarry and a fun thing to do on halloween...asked if I wanted to go but rather stay incase some strays arrive...OMG only about 30 came..what ever will I do with all the chips, chocolate bars and cases of pop????
Snack time for crafters! What an unique idea to give out cokes and chips! That's brilliant, Betty!
Was too funny, Greg/Mel and the boys came in, Greg asked me what time I got home, said 4pm, asked if I went out again, said nope, then why he asks is your car doors open/light on inside the vehicle??? and keys in ignition, and wallet on the seat? oh/oh guess I meant to go back after bringing in all the pop and chip boxes to close everything up..thank goodness I'm in a good neighborhood...lol...
Then we're sitting on the couch, I see kids going down the side street in masses, I call out...kids/come over here, I've got treats...yooohhooooo! Mel is killing herself laughing, says yep, I'm sure they want to come, probably saying stay away from that crazy lady...
Going to have to fight for lighting on this street, kids are out in masses because the roads are lit, mine is not..should pack everything up and do car delivery...
Deborah, at least the pop I can store as I drink a fair amount of pop and good for Christmas, but the chips and chocolate bars, yep, better I leave them in the craft room for treats...
How about you Deborah, many kids in your area?
I lost a post...
I'll tell you why, I was being mean and nasty towards another person..that's why...
I'm just so BLOODY mad...
Oh hahah, Betty, only you would concider a delivery!
Great costumes.
...You know, I did think the Shooting star was a sign! Thanks, It also made me smile big.
Hi Deborah!
We, I think are done...had a slew of tiny people so cute.
...Think the older ones are all at friends. not to many tonight at all!
Ohhh, what happened??
Why are you bloody Mad?
(we posted at same time)
Oh Carol, How fun!!
I had maybe 15 trick or treaters. All so cute! Most were grandkids of various neighbors here in our sub division.
Aren't they all just too adorable..your grandaughter is just sooo adorable..and look at those wrestlers..fans..who would have thunk it..lol... don't know about you all but the weather here is as a fall evening...
Deborah, always nice to get little kiddies that come to show you their costumes...
Well I had tried several times to call Sharon in the hospital but no answer at her extension, called back and they had taken her for her bath..she was tired, drains her..
She is upset as well, well more worried than upset I guess, they will transfer her by ambulance Monday and they operate Tuesday, they didn't tell her what time but now it's Tuesday...
Then she tells me my mother called her 3 times, not once, not twice but three times to ask her, no not even ask her but pressure her to give my Aunt Muriel the $5,000 to $8,000 for Aunt Muriel's dogs' operation..now I know my Aunt Muriel would be shocked if she knew mom did that..
Sharon is so down with all that's happened with the kids, being bedridden, on morphone constantly and this MOTHER has the gall to try and get $$$ from her for a dog...don't get me wrong, I love dogs as well, but this is not the time nor the place to be doing this...
I know for a fact that if I was the one needed surgery for my eyesight she'd come up with a zillion reasons why she couldn't help me...
She calls me every weekend when she's up in the area at her cottage..got into it a little last weekend about $$$ and the operation on the dog, the dog which has many other health problems....so I do know that if we get into a conversation I'll just blow..the fact that Sharon has had about enough, her mental state very low, more troubles piled on her than anyone should bare at this time and what does she do, put more stress on Sharon...
ARGGGG...I've a mind to call her before she calls me...
Do you think I'm over reacting...
Just brought all the lit decorations, fogger inside-had about 5 more kids...time to call it a night...
Just thinking, even when you live alone, try to keep out of any stressful situation (I don't do well with stress) it still is able to find you...
I'm pumped up as you can tell...
Watch a show tonight on ghosts...people purchasing homes on graveyard sites, happenings etc.
When I moved here I got such a sense of peace, although I found myself alone, no home, mega friends though, I thought I had hit rock bottom and then so many wonderful things came about...then I found out a young woman had committed suicide in where is now my craft room because she and hubby had separated...I often wonder when talking about ghosts, if she watches over me making sure all my needs are met and always there to tell me, 'you'll be ok'...think that's possible?
Don't make the call Betty, You are too angry...I can't blame you, I am thinking she should not, at all have done that.
...We sure can get into some issues's, yep I can tell.
Try and calm down my friend. My goodness, I sure do know it's so easy to say...
Sending you a hug too...
..I think your ghost does watch over you! She has never harmed, just there...
I don't care what others say...There are frindly ghosts!
Betty,
I am almost as furious as you! How can anyone pressure a person in a Hospital for money to spend on her dog??????? Sorry! To me--dogs are just animals and i would never have one--and if i did--I would think twice about spending hundreds of $$$ for it.
I would'nt also think twice if I had to put one down-- I would do it if it was the best thing for the animal and if it was warranted.
For all those reasons--I do not want to have any pets!
Seems in this World--some people need to be "put down".......Rude, inconsiderate people.....
Can they give Sharon a phone with caller ID? That way she does not have to take calls from her Mom, her son or anyone else that upsets her. OR--just disconnect her phone all together. You being one of the people that really cares--could call the Hospital and they could give her any messages. How about giving her a cell phone?
Re this Halloween----------I did not get even ONE person to trick-or-treat! Bummer! I did not really expect more than a few--but NONE? Now I have all these chocolates.........
We had a lovely, sunny day today---high 60's and warm. Got a bit more done in the yard.
That is how the weather here goes.....high--low.....high...low......Than--BAM! Everything frozen! Then--by Christmas--60 degrees again.....This area never settles down to real winter until January.
OK! Gonna go to bed.....Gita
Betty-I beleive that she is watching over you and because you came w/o DH she feels it is her duty to watch over you to make sure you are at peace and don't become as unhappy as she was. How sad-suicide over a man:(
We had more trick or treaters than last year-I had gotten enough stuff for like 325, then as a precautionary measure picked up 2 more bags last week-went through all the reg, plus 1 of the extra bags!!! Thank goodness I got them!! There were some cuties though-and one really scary guy-it was dark and he had a hood over his face, so I don't know how old he was, but very strange-he said he was getting candy for himself and for his little sister. I gave him some for both-didn't want him coming back!! Some of my neighbors didn't give out candy to kids over a certain age and some didn't give out candy to people like this guy, but for me, it is worth and exta peice of candy to not have to clean up eggs, or TP.....I want to make a sign for next year though-
NO COSTUME=NO CANDY!!!!
I was irritated at kids that didn't even try-I can understand that some parents can't afford the comstume, but then put on some funky clothes-or like one little girl-she had her PJ's and robe on and some curlers in her hair that her mom probably got at the $$ store-and I know her family doesn't have a lot-but she at least made an effort-she had babypowder or something in her hair to make it gray too-super cute as an old lady:)
OK-I guess I am done with my little rant:) Sorry....
Thanks everyone, I'm in a better mood today - might not answer my telephone this weekend so that I continue to enjoy it....
As you can tell I love animals, have Sailor my lovely border collie, 2 cats, wouldn't harm them, love them to pieces but they are animals and to some become their family BUT when they take priority over your children..that is a bit beyond the top...and that is where Mom and Jim have gone, little beyond the top..
They never go anywhere together because the dog cannot be left alone, they pick up hot roast beef, or chicen sandwhiches each night, throw away the bread and doggie gets a hot meal...if it turns sideways either too quickly or too slowly off to the vets it goes....
Remember last Christmas when I drove her and Aunt Murial to Florida..we got to the restaurant and she said we'd take turns in the car so the dogs wouldn't be alone...I said that no-one would eat if 1 had to do so...so big argument, quiet ride that day but finally we ate together..dog survived...
OMG I remember one Christmas, we were all at her place for dinner, there had to be at lest 20 of us..the dog was sitting on a high back comfy chair, no more chairs left in the house so Roger (DH) did not push the dog off the chair in a harmful way but just shoooddd him off...WAR started, she said NO ONE would take that dog off the chair, it was her chair (other pooch) so ROGER said he'd not stand in a living room full of family/friends while a dog sat on a chair...guess you know what happened next..yep, all back home from the city without Christmas dinner...AND I had to agree!!!!
OOOOHHHH not going to talk about it anymore ...
It will be a nice day here today, going to close the pond if I can figure out how to take the pump out of the bottom 4 1/2 ft. ... my aim is to see if I can take the piping out and let if run out until I can get to the pump if not, I'll try and find someone with a pump OR I'll do like last year, up to my almost shoulders in cold water...next year I'll make sure I make it easier...
Nothing else planned, going to take out all the velvet and start cutting kits, that's not hard just entertaining...
As for Halloween yes Gita I think the same must be true here as well, on Wednesday night the community center just down the street had a Halloween Party for all..then the school so just maybe they were halloweened out..know I'll have pop for quite some time...won't go to waste...
How are you this morning Judy, any news? Did the children get tons of goodies? They'll all be on a high won't they today..
OMG Stacey that is an awfully lot of trick or treaters and yes don't you just hate it when they come not even an attempt to look as though they are dressed in Halloween Garb...yep, a sign would be a great idea, spotlight on it so all can see....
As for the caring ghost, the girl who owned this house rented the bottom floor to her, he found her and never returned into this house, so guess that's why I got it so cheap, nobody told me though, only found out last year...
I'll be back on my next break..time to organize my day..
I love my animals, but that is ridiculous Betty!! OMG!! We get a pet sitter when we are away-the neighbor girl comes and stays and we pay her like $100 for the week-wayyy cheaper than a kennel and I feel better about it, but if we want quality time, animals off the bed, they don't get people food and would NEVER expect people to stand while she takes up a chair!!!
Oh Happy Days! Guess I learnt my lesson last year re pond, went outside, big black tubing that I put to create waterfall could be pulled outside of the pond onto ground...now going to empty itself and I won't even have to have a cold bath..I must have got smarter...looked at gazebo, although the structure will stay put up, the top/sides have to come in..
Remember last year when I was waiting for Greg and got a bit of attitude when he arrived and I cut it off, then this spring put in a zipper, well today I'll be able to open it up, off it comes and it's ready...the beautiful door art, well I positioned it as well on 2x2's so screws can come off and in storage it goes...I'm just amazed at how smart I'm getting...one has to come up with these brainstorms as NOT to depend on others...
In the cyber post off somewhere fluttering I had posted that last night when Greg and family arrived which was about 7:30 he asked me if I had just arrived home, nope said I probably about 4...hmmm he says...don't you think it's a good idea mom when you arrive home to close your doors, take your wallet off front seat and keys out of ignition??? Oh I guess so! lol I must have opened the trunk taken all the pop out, open side back doors to take the cases of chips out, front door opened (of course my hands would be full by now) lol to get chocolate bars, why make another trip, came in, got doing something else and completely forgot..
Would teach me a lesson if I now went outside as I want to go to town for 1 hr. to have my car not start....
Betty, It sounds as if your Mom is so fixated on the money/dog issue that she isn't even considering how seriously ill your sister is and that may be because of her age - she may not seem senile but the signs are starting to show. If it is, you may as well argue with the wind because nothing you say is going to be heard.
It's as if she's your teenage child, they have selective hearing and refuse to think about your feelings or concerns. They have one agenda and nothing can deter them from it (and it's usually centered on their wants and needs). My teenage daughter was contastantly in tears because her father hated her, or so she said. it took her until age 30 to realize that he was just being a good parent and keeping her from bad situations such as insisting she call when she was going to be late, knowing who her friends were and where she was going, etc.
My mom swore to the end that the reason she lost her job was because her bosses wife wanted to hire another bookkeeper and had nothing to do with her drinking.
Terri, never thought of that but it does still bother me that she would go to the ends of the earth for an animal i.e. $350.00 monthly contribution to Save the dogs campaign and yet she has a son who is struggling..can't make any sense out of it...
And I do know if I say something it will be a year or more before we talk...but lordy, I'm the eldest, must say something, so been thinking of how to address it..
You probably are dead one...let it go...
JUDY? JUDY? keep coming back to the thread in hopes you post to let us know how YOU are doing and if you've any news on your sister..hope you had a good night's rest.
Must be sister time of the year...so many of us are worried about them..prayers for all...
Good Morning!
I wish to Thank you all again.
I really appreciate all the expressions of hugs, prayers and general support.
Haven't heard anything else...But i am comforted in knowing she's being cared for.
Receiving her meds and just continue to pray she heals well...
I have got some running around today, so trying to get an early jump on it.
Glad to see you have calmed down a bit too...
Prayers for all.
Steves up so I've got to go...Talk to you all later
Hope everyone has a good day, it's another Beauty!
LOL, get all your Halloween stuff down??
Glad to hear you've much to keep yourself occupied today Judy..all in the hands of the Lord right?
Yes, all boxes outside ready to be put into the back storage shed...I'm playing this morning while doing my laundry..cutting out santa's...first Suzanne's so she knows how many decorative pieces she needs...then on to mine...
Suzanne's husband Lenny turns 60 tomorrow so must make sure I go into town and pick up a gift for him..he's as bad as I am with Canadian Tire..it's always a race to see who gets through the flyer first..my thoughts are to purchase him a gift certificate..then he can purchase what he wants...they keep telling me no gifts but for my 60th I got diamond stud earings from them so how can you not?
Then to Fabricland for a Mrs. Santa pattern..need to know how much of that lovely velvet I need NOT to cut..lol
A stop at the post office, then a few groceries and a stop at the Scrapbooking store..need a few supplies..sounds like a lot to do but I can achieve this in about 1 1/2 hrs...yep, power travelling...
It's my goal this weekend to get NOW DON'T you all panic, the Christmas tree on the front deck and all the lights hooked up while it's warm outside...and I always try to do this so that when I have the workshops with are Nov.8th and 15th, I can turn that music machine and lights on and make them feel in the spirit of Christmas..nuts aren't I...and I've got chips/chocolate bars and pop for them..lol/lol
So off I go for another hour..hair dry, ready to curl, next load of wash in dryer..I'm well under way...
Critters/critters..here they rest and heads moving from side to side as I pass by...they truly aren't helping out...
OMG just had a visit from Alex (June's husband) we kind of share him..lol..if I need anything done he's there in a flash, just amazes June, because normally he's too tired to do anything around her house...lol Anyway, June had called earlier and asked what I was up to??? Cutting out velvet for the Victorian Santa's...well doesn't he bring me 3 porcelain heads and hands..still in boxes and about 4 to 5" high...can't wait to figure out something for them..probably santa's, will look for Christmas brocade, maybe hand painted sleigh in front of them...who knows..give me something to plan..lucky me...
Diane called also, she's going up into the bush where she rides her horse, her 4x4 can get there, says she'll pick me up some red berry branches providing the birds haven't eaten them up already...sitting here with coffee in hand, having a cookies that Kathy dropped off for me, stew in fridge as well..I've got soup on for lunch, supper been looked after...imagine...some days I'm just overwhelmed by the kindness of these people...I sure am blessed...
Sailor is tired from walking along with me from room to room, project to project..lol..
Here's the faces...aren't they wonderful!
Wow Stacey, I thought we got a lot of trick or treaters. We usually get around 180. Growing up we lived in the sticks and usually got about 5 (including my sister and me). Even when we lived in the city we didn't get a lot. Here, it seems like most of the kids come to the "teacher's" road. Usually I hand out candy and Keith takes the kids out but we switched jobs this year. I missed seeing all the kids at our door. Here are our kids at our friend's house.
After all the trick or treating was finished I got dressed up for the Hallowe'en dance. I was considering just going as a witch but decided to do something different. Apparently quite a few people in the states had my same idea but I was the only one here dressed as Sarah Palin. Actually, I was dressed up as Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin. Don't pay attention to the messy kitchen in the background.

This was the greeter at our place. I really enjoy making a spooky yard. The kids had so much fun. Ian was so excited and he kept growling at everyone. I guess he figured that vampires growl a lot.
Carol - Dana looks so cute in her rag-doll costume. I think that's what I'd like to be next year.
Betty - I love Kyles costume. It's so cool that he made it.
Yesterday one of Sonora's friends came to visit after school. She was Sonora's first friend when we moved here but now she lives in Timmins. Anyway, she came up here for the weekend but didn't really have a costume. So, down to the basement we went and she found some good clown things in our costume box. About ten minutes later her younger sister came over and we went down and put some things together so she could be "Lightening-Wonder Woman".
So now that Hallowe'en is over I've put on our Christmas Wiggles video. Ella LOVES the Wiggles. I'm glad that I held on to the tapes after Sonora and Ian outgrew them. Now I'm off to clean up all the Hallowe'en stuff.
