OO goody-I'm 1st!!
I was posting this as Betty moved us over so it was on the other thread.
Hello everybody,
Carol, alstramerias (sp?) used to be by very favourite flowers. We had them on our wedding cake. I love yours.
Well, I'm excited. Yesterday I sold my very first thing online. I am quite proficient at buying things online but selling is new to me. I packaged it up this morning, printed out a shipping label and have it all ready to go.
I can't believe tomorrow is Hallowe'en. It's a good thing I bought all the candy to hand out a couple weeks ago. Sonora is going as Medusa and Ian is being "Vampire Comb-hand". Ian's first plan was to be a blue marshmallow - last year he wore his blue puffy down jacket under his spiderman costume so this year he was just going to wear his coat and be a marshmallow. Then he found a comb we have for our cat (not that we ever use it). He decided that he would hold it in one hand (like a hook) and be comb-hand. Then his two front teeth fell out (with the help of a faceplant on the school yard) and he figured that he should be a vampire too. Ian is so funny. For Ella we have a costume that friend gave us that's basically an orange fleecy overall with a jack-o-lantern on it. I just need to make sure I can find the matching hat. Normally I'm much more organized and try to get everything ready well in advance. I guess I just have other things on the go right now.
I've been trying to research gluten-free diets and things to help digestive problems. While doing that I've come across a lot of information about Leaky Gut Syndrome. It's like a lightbulb has gone on. My two older sisters have Crohn's, I have digestive issues, Sonora has digestive issues and ezcema and Ian has PPD-NOS (on the autism spectrum). Anyway, my mental wheels have been turning for quite a while and now they're turning more. The worst thing is that there's so much conflicting information out there so it's taking some time to wade through it all. I'm a little suspicious of sites that say, "You need this supplement and we can sell it to you." I already make most food that we eat from scratch and we eat quite healthily so it will be interesting to see if I can improve things.
Morning Janice, think you've read, have your envelope ready to ship today...
Gillian, you said you will be posting your very first sale on-line but you didn't tell us what it was??? come on share...my DIL has to eat only gluton free foods, should ask her for some info and some of her recipe's..when she visits she brings her own foods...yes, must agree with you when people say they have just the thing you need for which they are giving you information on, makes you think twice...how wonderful you have computer access as to research this info..
OHHH costumes sound so adorable..do you and Keith dress up when going along with them..are there many homes that shell out? So much fun when the kids put their own costumes together... we'll be looking for photo's...
VICKI posted......
Betty DS surgery will be on Wednesday and it sounds like it has been caught in time. But I am being caution with a wait and see attitude.
Time to get dressed and head outside. The frost has melted and I think it has warmed up a bit out there. Anyway the sun is shining!
You all have the day you need if I don't get back here.
Vicki we'll all be praying for her..how wonderful they've caught it on time...frost on the ground??? yuk...much to do before winter??? or are you almost done...
Betty, Lamictal is wonderful for me! I’ve taken medications that helped and I thought I felt “normal” but this is way better than the best one I had before. It also helps my mental state that I found a sleeping medication that works and am trying to find medication that takes care of my allergies, what I’m taking is helping, but I still have issues.
Gillian, sounds very close to Cedric’s Halloween costume.
Laura any side effects to that medication that you are experiencing?
Girls are going to lunch at 12:00 and when they get in we go to see the new Toronto office, then shopping at IKEA (Suzanne needs more flooring)just had BLT so that and a hot dog will be our lunch..then after work off to GANZ, now that's exciting...so full day..Greg and Kyle will be over around 7:30 but not sure I'll be home....
Anything you want me to shop for??? I've been getting good bargains lately...(wink/wink)
what do they have??
It's a big warehouse Stacey, they make 'teddy bears' but have absolutely everything from Christmas to kitchenware, to household, to well just everything at discounted discount prices...yep, great place to be BUT between all my shopping these past few weeks, my slush fund is getting mighty thin...lol so could be a professional shopper for you all...wouldn't that be fun...all that velvet yesterday/tool company, hair shipment this a.m. - I used up this week's allowance...I'd better call friends to bring me more meals...Cathy dropped off stew yesterday..better tell them I've no groceries...(smilling away)
Been lurking for a few minutes this morning , when will you hear about the new job...
On my lunch I'm trying to find a location that I can purchase stamps to send envelopes over to the states..keep sending parcels/envelopes it might mean another quick trip across the border...
I have just been inputting my resume, so only time will tell-the other specifications about it SCREAM me!!! I am really wanting this one!!
I am always looking for cute holiday crappola:) I was looking for something specific that I couldn't find-I need little hats-I want to make litte snowmen w/ the 2" white puffies and can't find little top hats...
Ok, didn't know ya'll started a new thread, I was sitting on the old one for over an hour lol!
I'm lost and I can't catch up here at work, I'll get into trouble and I don't need any of that. So Betty, Sharon's surgery is on Wednesday the 5th? Is her son still at her house or did ya'll get together and give him the boot. I had a roommate a long time ago, in fact it was the last roommate I ever had, who didn't pay rent and I had some things miskewed and missing in my bedroom. I lived in this apartment with Royal Blue Shag Carpet, so I vacuumed the floor where the carpet was standing up before I went to work. When I got home there were footprints all over the bedroom going from the door to the dresser, then to each nightstand, and back out the door, BUSTED! So when I confronted her about it of course she denied it, and said I stole baseball caps from her boyfriend that she wore from his house to her house (I have never wore baseball caps) so I showed her the pictures I took and she said it was my boyfriend, who didn't go to my house if I wasn't home. Since it was a slight possibility I called his boss and verified he was at work all day, which he was. Then I came home and half my dishes and silverware were missing! That was the end of the line, I called my boyfriend over, we moved ALL of her furniture onto the front porch (I had an upstairs with a huge porch) and changed the locks, then I went to the apartment manager and gave him a new key and told him what I had done. He thought it was hilarious.
Maybe ya'll should do that, move all of his stuff out when he's not home and change the locks, then watch him out the peep hole, my experience was hilarious!
Hi Crissy...lol...takes guts to put everything outside, not sure I'd want to be the one to do it..lol
Wishing you luck Stacey with getting that new position...
Just got back from seeing the new Toronto office, really spacious, bright..looks good, now on to getting the Barrie office ready..we then went to IKEA, lovely hot dogs NOT but container of cinnamon rolls had to come home with me...just got back wow only 1 1/4 hrs. left of this day and off to GANZ...
Stacey I'll look for those little hats, might not find them there but who knows maybe in my travels I'll find them for you...
Crissy, lol the white costume is a abominable snowman..lol...guess he's a gorilla type..
Helloo My Friends!
Well, I am so behind schedual today! Had a meeting at Jacobs school.
Got to tell you We are very proud of his accomplishments this school year. As you know, we got him into regular classes and he is doing great. Again, was in tears of gratitude on the way to work. Our prayers are definatley being heard. I can't tell you enough, how lucky i feel to have such a close family. To hear his social worker talk of how he Speaks so highly of his sister's and the way our family is overall, just gives me the greatest feeling that we are doing something right.
Sometimes, i just get so overwhelmed at the way our lives are so busy and in so many different directions and levels, that hearing from the school that he is truley doing ok. Was funny because, his social worker would ask me question about him at home and she was shaking her head in total agreement at his actions and the way he carries himself at school. The only real issue is that he tends to be argumentive about things. LOL, yep that is him alright, He has always very self sufficient since he was very small. We have always fostered this as a good thing, but i guess sometimes he takes it to the extreme. And I said beleive me, we have had many a discussion on the issue...But, all in all with a happy note he is doing well.
Congratulations! Gillibean, what did you sell on the computer??? Sounds like the kids will have a wonderful halloween, dressing up.
Carol, LOL, I don't know why i keep thinking your grand daughter is so far away. It's nice that you get to spend some mornings with her...My kids talk to their grandma everyday and they love to be able to go on the bus to see her, or now Julia drives them.
Vicky, OMG a true vacation!! I love it, sure wish I wasn't such a chicken to drive.
But since I am, then you will just have to know, I am hoping you have a wonderful, time off...LOL too bad that truck had to get there first!
Now, I am so glad to hear they got to Linda's cancer in time. I know got to watch as well, so prayer continue.
You know I have not ventured in other Sunny D's I just love the orange. Oh wait, i take that back, i think I have tried the Strawberry kind, well it was reddish, thought it was pretty good. We keep the big bottles during the hot days, and only drink them when we are sick in the winter. Hmmm, thats kinda different huh? So what are planning to do, gonna have a runaway day?
Betty, what did you buy at warehouse??? ROFLOL, I don't think i could do that on lunch, I would get lost and time would definatley uhm, slip away to time to go home...
Wishing you luck in getting that job screaming your name stacey.
OMG...again have been writing a long time..Geesh, can you tell I am bored and way behind? OK on to complete the day
Which by the way is gorgeous out and tomorrow is to be even better!!
Enjoy the afternoon.
Judy, we went to see the new office, then to IKEA and in 1/2 hr. before going home so we have time to shop we'll go over to Ganz...last year I think it was between me and Suzanne we ended up with about well over 25 teddy bears about 20" tall..donated them to the toy drive..imagine they were $2.00 each...
It was also where I bought my pretty cannister set that Cathy dropped...the one that looked like a stack of plates, other stack of bowls etc. so just maybe I'll find the set again..bought a new one but I really liked the other...
Looking for Christmas decorations, mostly for the Victorian Santa's..Suzanne having new grandaughter well I'm sure she'll find plenty..
Last year they had so much outdoor garden decorations they were clearing...who knows what we'll find but no doubt it will be something..
Judy how wonderful to get good news from teachers about Jacob...don't your knees just want to buckle when you do these parent/teacher meetings...I hated them..
It was always the same, Jeff was bored and fooled around because there was no challenge..lordy, don't know how many times I had to drive back into Midland so he could fix the school computers, re- programmed them so even the teachers could use them...guess what he does for a living...yep...big executive in the field of computer programming...designing programs for the likes of IBM..lol..so, even if it is a little bad news, know that there are great things ahead for him..so nice to see he talks so positive about the family...kids are amazing..you think they aren't listening or behaving and wow you find out they actually were...walk tall girl and be proud...
Where is our Liz..you'd better give her a call Judy and tell her I'm needing my Liz fix...soooo do miss her this year with her love of Halloween, she got me decorating in late Sept. and trying to achieve just a little corner of what she had going..Liz if you are lurking please drop in with a 'hi' miss you..
Paul is so playful today, we always get paid before lunch and last week he didn't give it to us till after lunch, so when he did I said thank you, told him the 'soup' kitchen had good soup, he asked me about it, not realizing what I meant, was playing with him saying we had no $$$ so went to the community soup kitchen...today, he was leaving for the other office, said he'd pay us later in the afternoon...he walks in with his wallet, takes out a $20.00 and says here, until I pay you, don't want you in the soup line...lol...he's just tooo cute
Well, what I sold wasn't anything spectacular. I regularly visit a babywearing website. They have a couple forums where you can post things you'd like to sell or things that you're looking for. I just happened to have a diaper cover and amber teething necklace that someone was looking for. It was nice because the person who bought them was really patient while I learned. I even made a shipping label using paypal. Eventually I'd like to sell homemade things on either etsy.com or hyenacart.com. Both of these sites allow people to sell handcrafted items. For now I'm mainly trying to declutter our house so I can actually make things. I had a yardsale in September and most of the baby clothes that didn't sell there, I donated to the health unit. I've kept a few things for future babies but I'm really trying to keep only the things that I LOVE and USE.
Betty, I would love recipes. I just bought a gluten-free recipe book that looks so good. When Keith went to Sudbury last week I had a big list of thongs for him to get at Bulk Barn. I want to try out some of the recipes then at Christmas I'll take a little trip and pick up a bunch more in Timmins. It can be difficult to get specialty items here.
Crissy, that is hilarious! I would have loved to have seen her face.
Here's a picture of the necklace I sold. Ella wore an amber teething necklace for over a year. When worn next to the skin amber is supposed to release things into the body to help ease pain. I think it helped a lot with Ella.
I can't remember if I posted this before. If I did, you get to see it again. It's a picture of me wearing Ella in the amautik I bought last month from someone on the babywearing website. I'm really looking forward to having it this winter. Ella sits in a pouch in the back. If it's really cold I can pull the hood up over both of us.
Betty, on the mood stabilizer and sleeping meds I haven’t noticed any side effects other than actually having energy, and I sure notice when I don’t take them. My friend has really bad “hangovers” from Trazadone, the sleeping med, so it isn’t for everyone, but it’s the only one I’ve tried that hasn’t had side effects bad enough that I quit taking it. The Lamictal is a mood stabilizer, a one pill Bi-polar medication, not just an anti-depressant; I’m not sure what all it can be used for though.
Gillian, that's cute!
Thanks, Betty, I will be looking for the cards. I have almost 3 weeks off at Christmas so I may make some then. In fact, the victorian Santa may have to wait until then, too. What with quilts to make, cookies to bake, graduations to attend the days seem to pass really fast.
I remember as a kid I used to think time stood still. Not at almost 70 I feel as if my life just flys by. Allthough Dad is going on 101 and my aunt (his sister) is 97 so maybe I have some time anyway. My Dad just laughs and says he has now been retired longer than he worked! And since he still plays bridge almost daily, sings in two chorus's and on Sunday and goes anywhere anyone will take him I think he doesn't have to worry about "quality of life".
Wow...Janice I am in awe at the longevity of your family...
Still going strong, that is just incredible.
...not to make you, or anyone feel bad but my family has gone on very, very young, that is why I think
Wow!! So sweet to see people are loved so much. I am so smiling for you.
Hello, just got in, imagine..almost time to get back to the city..OMG I could have spent a fortune ...many beautiful gifts - value $20 - $40. sell for betwen $2.00 - $8.00 but tonight it was decoration embellishment for the santa workshop..he needs something in his right hand so pick up about 1/2 of what I needed plus a few angel stick for the floral christmas arrangement I do and give away..so all was not lost..but will tell you I'll make my Christmas list and go back next Friday and pick some up..today was just the test run...lol..
OMG came home and there was such a lovely card waiting for me...Trisha from Olympia, Washington sent me the nicest card..am sure she made it...oh what talent..it got my mind working overtime...the flower looks hand embroidered but I'll be lazy and use my machine..just think if I put the Christmas embroidery cd in it, the one I needed today and haven't used it in 4 years..hmmm and did inserts in the Christmas cards wouldn't they be pretty..guess who will try this out this weekend...
Will show you...just so excited..
This is what my BIL sent to me. Looks like sometime on wed. for her surgery. Everyone was happy as heck Linda had her yearly mamogram done. She caught the cancer dormant.Located in one spot. A very good chance she will not need radiation but pills for 5 years or so.
So Betty she is having surgery the same day as your sister. I knew it was a good thing I could let go and let others take care of it for me. My worry that is!
Don't feel bad Judy I am a chicken driver also.
Will be working on cleanup and getting stuff put away in the yard. The next couple of days will be nice. But those darn beetles were out today and ruined it!
It's off to bed, tired tonight...fed the animals, see Aline dropped in as did Cathy..little love letters along with homemade cookies...I'll keep them for tomorrow...soooo the furries have had friends in to play, they all look tired so it's night/night
Talk tomorrow and will respond to your posts then if it's ok....I'd just ramble on more if I tried tonight...
I'm so happy the note sounds soooo positive..bet you are feeling so relieved...I just called Sharon, she said she didn't sleep last night nor today as the morphine drip is making her so nauseated..but, she sounded in better spirits..so Vicky our sisters will come through their surgery in flying colors...
Beetles, yuk..maybe someone is trying to tell you to go back into the house, feet up, good book and relax for a change...
night
Betty I did go in the house. The dog didn't even want to stay out and get bit. Ended up taking a 2 hour nap and then watching some tv and picking up during commercials! LOL Then when it was cooler went out and worked.
I like the idea of our sisters having surgery the same day!
Well, I am sorta numb...
My baby sister fighting in a different drum. I pray for all our sisters to keep on keeping on. I really don't know how else to say.
Keep the Faith...
I am. so crying for us
Good night with Peace
Gillian,
This is a Post on the Recipes Forum. Hope it helps you.

Ok, so I'm off to watch Poltergeist and try to finish DH and my costumes. So, Happy Halloween! I'll probably get on tomorrow, but if I don't it's nothing to worry over. I have so much to do before 5ish tomorrow. I got Cedric's Halloween costume finished and I'm going to take Cedric Trick-or-treating and speaking of...

Betty-no top hats?? Oh well.... WOW-when I come to visit PLEASE say we can go to this place!! OH-BTW-I have been doing a lot with rub ons and seem to find the same ole ones here-if you find an neat ones, LMK and I can send you money, stamps, whatever you want:)
I need a little assistance. I was given several Sky vodka bottles by a bar owner (the really pretty cobalt blue ones) and I need some ideas on what to do with them...
Morning, cold outside but will be fantastic weather for the little ones tonight...
No traffic jams this morning, easy drive in..imagine, it's Friday, great weather, we're off at 1:00 and it's Halloween! How could anyone ask for anything more...
Are any of you dressing up for the occasion..must get something together when I get home this afternoon to shell out...
No top hats Stacey, but I'll look in my boxes of treasures, almost sure that somewhere I may have some..and, will keep on the lookout for the rub ons, any particular ones??? know the little scrapbooking store in Midland had some Christmas ones...ohhhh blue bottles, you can have a bottle tree outside in your garden, lovely when the sun shines on them..I didn't do the actual tree, I bought large dowels that fit through their bottleneck, placed them at different heights and lordy they looked lovely amid the flowers..
Vicki, they actually BITE? We'll add Judy's sister to our list of family that needs prayers....
Judy, you keep strong, she'll need your strength ..
Gita I'll check that link as well...tks
Gillian, I get a lot of great recipe's on this link...keyed in gluton free, you'll be surprised at just how many there are...hope it helps...
http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes.php?s_type=%2Frecipes.php&q=gluton+free+recipe%27s&Search=Search&Searcht=Search
Betty-what is a bottle tree?? Do you have a pic?? And any kind of rub ons-I just don't like the gimomgo word ones I found on ebay-it is like a 5" long by 2" tall like pink box that says "Fabulous" or something rediculous like that-I like the ogject ones-like birds, butters, hummers, seasonal-things like that-does that make any sense??
I'll look for you!
Not sure if I've a photo, I'll go through them, it's just easy garden art..
Neat Vicki...they are really lovely when the sun hits them...
