I'm glad you made it, too, Kanita. We haven't seen you for a long time. Don't let anyone tell you CB is a myth!
Mini-RoundUp March 14, 2009
Gorgeous! Do you remember where I put the seeds? LOL! So much to remember. If I can't find them I'll hit you up for some more, Rob. Same way with the Strawberry Tree, lmk if you need more.
Glad I was able to help with the turtles and you found something for your finicky eaters to munch on. I got to see my big guy "Skippy" sunning himself on a rock. I have to get him used to me each year. He forgets, and dives for the water. Still haven't seen the little one yet.
Been so thrilled to be planting all these great plants. I'll be sending photos, when I get a chance to. Here is one of my favorite photos from the round up.
What is this plant called Kathleen?
Ooops!

That's a Ceanothus, SW. John loves that picture with the bee!
That is such a beautiful color! Nice picture, I liked the bee too. I like taking bug shots. teeheehee
I love it too! Which is why she generously shared some with me. As long as I'm looking and they aren't crawling on me I'm okay, with bugs. Lady bugs and Bflys are always welcome. Even worms and Caterpillars. I draw the line at stink bugs. LOL!
WIB,
SW
I'm always looking for Praying Mantis and Stick Bugs. Don't like stink bugs either. lol
And potato bugs! Eeeeeww!
I think it might have been a Ceanothus we were talking about. We planted some that are supposed to get about 8 feet tall and put on a beautiful display of flowers after a few years. Even our little ones are blooming - less than a year old. It's called C. Tassajara Blue. We have one not far from our propane tank and four or five down on the lower part of the garden - near the fence with our neighbor. Would you believe I can't find a picture of a fully grown plant on the Internet? Here's the description:

I would like to apologize. From somewhere, I got the idea that the Mini Roundup was on March 28. I don't have any clue as to why I thought that.
I feel like I missed a great opportunity to "talk plants" as well as get the plants that I was trading for (and give the plants that I promised).
Just for the heck of it, let's have it again on March 28...LOL.
Sorry I missed the mini-roundup,
Chuck
Well, we wondered where you were and missed you. Sorry you didn't make it, we should stop talking about how good the food was and what a great time we had so that you won't feel bad...lol....
So sorry about the mix-up, Chuck! OK, anybody up for the 28th? LOL
Rob, I probably put them in my purse then. You know how that can be. I'll let you know.
Chuck, Dmail me if you still want the red geranium. I think I left your yellow scabiosa seeds at KC's but she might take pity on you and mail them to you.
Sorry we missed you too Chuck. You are only a few minutes from me, so let me know. You can still salvage cuttings from the red Geranium.
WIB,
SW
Yes, SW, I have Chuck's seeds and have contacted him.
I should have known! The best hostess! ^_^
Thanks,
WIB,
SW
Well, Nosy Parker, really. Had to see what was in that big bag. I might try some of the Indian corn. Our birds like it, especially popped. But I don't know what to do with all those seeds! Goodness, you have quite a collection there. I think I will mail them back to you so you can use them for trades.
Better yet, send them to Kanita! I have a ton of seed and those are all extras. Bribe her lemon bar recipe out of her! I'll help with postage!
LOL!
WIB!
SW
And what are you going to grow under them ?
Very cool, Pegi.
OK, where's that Kanita girl? Lemon bars, lemon bars, we want lemon bars! Or just someone to take this seed off my hands. LOL

Maybe you could add the seed to the lemon bars...
:-)
Does anyone remember the name of the irises Kanita brought to the roundup??? I want to label my garden map and I can't remember the name.
I don't think she knew what the names were/are. She just said they were "blue"...but by the size of them, they look like they're the tall BI's.
They were definitely nice and healthy !
Desert Pirate, she didn't know the names. She said the large leaved ones were "blue" and the smaller ones were "yellow". For me that's all good, I have a bunch of noid whites in my garden and they're fabulous!
Mike I'm going to try my hand at germinating a lot of different seeds. Never tried it before so don't know how it will work. A gal in Kansas sent me so many different seeds that I think I am getting in over my head.
I know Kanita said the blue iris was an heirloom one and she had a picture of it, very pretty. Wish I had one of those lemon bars!
Pegi
Thanks guys, at least I know what color they'll be.
Didn't Kanita say they were called a famous painting name....like Monet?
The yellow Iris were mine. I don't have a name for them either, but they are so pretty.
Pegi, Have you looked at this thread in the Seed germination forum? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/943821/
A member is compiling a list of how to germinate certain seeds. She also has listed a another site that is very helpful. I have been using both site lately for some of my new seeds that didn't have any growing information. Good luck with your seeds.
Donna
Ha! Thanks for the yellow Iris Donna! Do you have any pics so we can anxiously wait to see our own blooms?
Roberta, Here is a picture of the yellow Iris. It is in the bottom left corner of the picture. Sorry it's not a more closeup pic . http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6244996
Donna
Thanks Donna, that will be a lot of help. Put that in my favorites.
Pegi
Boy, if it's anything like this, I'll be a happy camper! This is a miniature, though. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/92352
Donna that's close. Kanita said they were the same color at the Irises in the famous Monet painting, I think it's called 'Flowers'.
I'll check on that.
DH insists they were called Rembrandt. He may not have heard correctly.
DP, one of my favorites by Monet. Lovely that you were able to find the painting.
Good to know what color the smaller ones are. I couldn't for the life of me, figure them out with everything else going on. I have a purple iris, but think that these are different. It looks like a couple of my white iris have survived as well. It'll be good to have the Yellow too! ^_^
WIB,
SW
Oh, I LOVE that painting.
I love Monet too. Jo
That Monet painting is beautiful. Would love to have a garden like that, well I guess we all would.
