I've heard that dreaming of spiders is a symbol of prosperity. A really big spider means really big wealth. Don't know about giant chickens though. LOL
Spooks and ghosts and weeping ladies...oh my! Pt 3
Zoomorphism
To dream that you are changing into the form of an animal, indicates that you are becoming less civilized and restrained and becoming more free and instinctive. You may be expressing your new found freedom/independence and experiencing a lack of boundaries. Alternatively, taking the form of an animal, suggests that your primal desires and/or repressed sexual urges are coming to the surface and needing to be satisfied. Consider also the animal that your turn into.
To dream that you are morphing into an animal, suggests that you need to express yourself more freely and without restraint.
Chickens
To see chickens in your dream, symbolize cowardliness and a lack of willpower. The dream may be a pun on being a chicken or chickening out of some situation. Chickens also represent excessive chatter and gossip. Listen closely to what people may be saying about you or what you are saying about others.
Ok I don't think it had anything to do with sex, gossip, willpower as I was very young, like 7 - 10. Maybe cowardliness because I knew my parents argued all the time and I would hide from them. My dad would get mean and my mom would make me choose between her and him.
Interesting...
That is very interesting Sharon. I guess in order to more accurately interpret a dream, you take the general interpretation and then you can analyze yourself to your own personal experience or what is happening in your life at the time....
I grew up in a similar household situation though mom never wanted us kids to be involved! I did hide from my dad. My only reoccurring childhood scary dream was of being in the dark, cold ocean and drowning. I have since considered that may have been a previous life/death experience.
Kwanjin: I miss the vivid dreams of my childhood. As an adult, it's hard to catch that wonder but I keep trying.
uuuugggg...me too!!
I had a dream the other night that I was setting up a computer for my mother. In our old house in So Cal. Don't know what that means. Darrell suggested I was trying to open communications with mom.
I agree with Darrell - or maybe instead of “I was trying” it was a message saying “try” to open communications with your mom?
Joeswife: spiders meant .. it meant having an OVERBEARING MOTHER in your life..
My daughter in law used to dream of overflowing toilets ...wonder if that means something about “mother in laws”...hehehe
Joeswife: I miss my dreams of being able to jump up and fly above houses, thru the trees , ducking telephone wires, feeling the breeze in my face and seeing the earth below me
In my later years, when ever I have flying dreams they almost ALWAYS involve telephone wires eventually. It's usually when I am trying to “enjoy” my flying experience or trying to “fly higher”. I hate to see them come up in my dreams because they always take over and ruin the fun of flying. I worry about being zapped by the wires or getting tangled up in them. I know they represent “stressful situations” in our lives so what can you do! I think around the age of 30 we tend to let go of the last of our...freedom (for lack of a better word)...and focus on what we need to do to survive. Sad...
I going to try to go back into my dream about the computer. Any suggestions on how to do that? Last night as I was falling asleep, I thought of the dream again to see if that would work. Maybe I need to try again?
Funny about the spiders. Heh heh heh And the giant chickens.
I used to study “dream interpretation” a lot about 10 years ago. I kept records of what the websites said about everything, had books, etc. I have come to the conclusion that you can't lump one “thing” into one “meaning”. I've found that colors are about the only thing that remains consistent in dream interpretation. Also, interestingly enough, a location of a thing...for example:
My niece had a dream while she was in college. She was mad at her fiance and wanted to leave him. In the dream she was in a house that he had bought for her. In this house the door was located to the left - not in the middle where they usually are located. She asked me to interpret the dream... which I am very apprehensive to do for anyone cause there is no set answer and it can be “dangerous” to say a dream means "THIS". You can set a person on the wrong path that way. Anyway, I told her to “consider” the location of the door. Because it was off to the left side that could mean she was not sure she really wanted to leave him. Also the color of the walls of the house were gray. Gray CAN mean “uncertainty”. I asked her what influence in her “awake” life was tempting her to end the relationship. She told me there was a young man in her class that had told her the dream meant she should leave her boyfriend. I told her - NEVER - let a person of the opposite sex interpret a dream for her...LOL... and that she should not make any decisions for awhile... pray about things... and wait. (Her boyfriend was a good guy, not beating her, etc.) She waited and decided she loved him and wanted to make the relationship work. She also found that the guy “friend” (that interpreted the dream for her) had a crush on her and was the “influence” making her dissatisfied with her engagement.
My point: location - the door was to the left; color - gray. Those two simple “symbols” can tell you something pretty concrete but location and color are two symbols that I have found TO be "almost" concrete in dreams. By the way...I wrote down my "complete" interpretation of the dream after my neice and I had our conversation but I didn't share it with her until much later when she had decided to remain in the relationship and I saw that things had worked themselves out.
Like Gitagal said...many of those sites are "down right stupid!"...so becareful what you believe.
kwanjin: I used to do that - think about a dream when I went to bed to try to go back to it. Sometimes it works somethimes it didn't. Why do you want to go back into the dream. Sounds pretty cut and dry to me...talk to your mom:)
I've never been able to go back into a dream. I've even heard that once you move to a different position it's gone, but that might depend upon the person.
I've got to go to the dentist again... bbl
I talk to her all the time. I would just like to hear her voice again.
Good luck!!!
oooohhh...you are a good child. Well then, since you talk to your mom all the time already...that does put your dream in a different light.
I lost mom this past July. We miss her terribly but one of my brothers and I still talk to her.
crissyr...funny...I have to go to the dentist also...ugg. That reminded me to call my hubby about the dental insurance!! Thanks!!
oooohhhh..!! That is sssooo comforting and beautiful. You're right then...maybe time for another “chat”!!
I'm a bit sore today from the dentist and because of the ice decided to stay home and use a sick day lol!
So I had a dream last night that it got hot here and I had on shorts but hadn't shaved my legs and they were really, really hairy. I don't know ladies.
"I am pretty sure I had a visitor during the night earlier this week. It was in my bedroom in the middle of the night. Was in that semi-awake state when you turn over in bed sometimes. I am positive someone was standing next to my bed. Seemed male and not real tall. The thought that popped in my mind was my dad. Next week on the !8th would be the second anniversary of his death."
I posted that on December 12.
Turned out that a elderly (80) male neighbor who was not very tall and whom I was very fond, of died the night of the 12th. No one has out & out said it, but from remarks I have heard...I think he may have comitted suicide. His wife died in August and he became very depressed and didn't believe he deserved to be alive.
Sorry off topic from dreams...
I wonder now if it was he that visited me as he was planning one his crossing over. He was like a second father to me. He always called me ladybird because I always have my camera to photograph birds.
I miss him terribly and when I walk by his empty house now it makes me so sad.
That is so sad, Nanny. Not off topic, either. Right on topic. Seems he chose you to say goodbye.
Oh, Nanny, so sorry to hear about your loss. I agree, he was stopping in to say his goodbye. Sad story.
Nanny, how honoured you must be feeling , even if it is sad to miss our friends and loved ones.. he chose you to honour that visit! *hugs*
Oh thank you all..
I don't know why but this all just clicked in my head last week for some reason ..that maybe it had been John telling me goodbye and not my dad. He would have known I would be sad. I was trying so hard to give him a reason to stay here.
That is so sad, but neat in it's own right. I'm sorry for your loss but you must feel good about the last visit.
I would feel good about the experience and welcome the next.
I'm going to try again with my dream tonight.
Good luck with your dream...I have been able to to it a couple times but it is hard to do.
Nanny – That is so sad. Maybe he just wanted to say “goodbye”. Obviously you meant a lot to him for him to make the trip to see you.
Celia – Any luck with your dream?
JoesWife – you have e-mail and d-mail.
Nanny, your neighbour certainly was thinking of you and stopped by to say his goodbye. What a beautiful thing for him to do, and so gently so as not to cause you alarm. Bless him, he'll be at peace now. Do talk to him sometimes. Perhaps when you pick up your camera you can tell him, 'I'm off photographing those birds again John'.
I used to have a very dear neighbour who often watched me in the garden and he would comment whenever I planted something new. He passed on over 25 years ago and I still plant things for him from time to time, and tell him, 'These are for you, Tommy'. I'm sure he can hear me, somewhere, somehow.
Terri
What a wonderful thing to know you have friends around you all the time.
No luck with the dream.
I just stumbled into your thread and want to share a dream that I had a couple of years ago. For background two of my Grandsons (6 and 4) have bad eating problems. One was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when he was 3. His brother now 4 will eat very little. I stress over them and their diet all the time. Both are very small for their age.
Early one morning I awoke from this dream...
I was driving up the road that I live on and in the pasture beside the road I saw a neighbor who was a dear friend, he had lived on the 400 acre farm since his birth. He had died a few earlier at 98. He was standing in the pasture with his much loved cows all around him and was talking to another man that I didn't recognize. I stopped my truck and walked out into the pasture. The neighbor recognized me and we started to catch up on old times I told him how glad I was to see him and that I had missed him. He ask about my children, my Mother and Father and my pets. My Neighbor was wearing overalls and a plaid shirt with the sleeves cut off (The same thing he always wore). The man with him was quite, he was wearing tennis shoes, jeans and a tee shirt. His hair was longer than my neighbors and looked much neater than my neighbor (I don't think the neighbor ever combed his hair except on Sunday. LOL)
I told the neighbor that I would have been to see him sooner but I thought that he had died. He laughed and said, you are right I did die, but God wanted to see my cows and the spring calves so we came for a visit.
I realized that the other man was God and it seemed very normal to be talking to him, he became friendly and started to talk to me about my garden and the valley where we live. I asked him about my Grandson and his eating and stomach problems. He said that the doctors were slow but they will figure it out. He said that my GS should eat from the tree of life, Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. My neighbor spoke up and said that he should not eat any of his cows or Pigs. He should only eat chickens. God laughed at his remark.
My neighbor told me that they had to go, they have more things to do, so I went back to my truck. When I got in the truck I looked back and they were gone. That is when I woke up.
I got out of bed and wrote down the dream while all the details were fresh in my mind. I have always wondered what this dream was telling me. Still no change in the eating habits or health of the boys. When I am with them I try to get them to eat fruit and vegetables. (Still don't work though).

Betty,
That is such an amazingly detailed dream!!! And--is seemed to have actual context.
Many dreams do not--they just meander through/from one's psyche with "whatever".....
Perhaps "God's" advice will come to fruition sooner or later.
G.
I have always had super detailed dreams that usually make no sense. This one seemed to have a message. My GM was the same way she could tell us every detail from her complicated dreams.

Wow...that was some dream picabo...
I do talk to John...and scold him for leaving ...that I thought we had more to learn from each other!! lol
He loved the Blue Birds. SO I will always think of him when I see one. We had one come to the yard Christmas day. I just have to believe that John sent it to say "Merry Christmas!"
Betty - Amazing dream! What an honor to talk to God and your neighbor.
A friend of mine has Crohns. When he was first diagnosed he read the book "100 Questions & Answers About Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis: A Lahey Clinic Guide". It really helped him with his diet and gaining knowledge on the condition. He changed his diet and now rarely has any problems.
I've learned several things just from knowing Chris. Leafy veggies (celery), pork and "stringy" meats aren't easily digested, so they should be avoided. Fruits, veggies (most veggies have to be steamed), chicken are great. Also he drinks Boost instead of milk. Uhmm, he uses Swiss cheese instead of cheddar. Go easy on the "leafy" spices. There's more I just can't think of it all right now.
I hope that helps some.
nanny - the next time I see blue blirds I'll say a special "hello" to John :)
nanny_56: "Turned out that a elderly (80) male neighbor who was not very tall and whom I was very fond, of died the night of the 12th"
John must have felt very loved by you...food for thought about being kind to EVERYONE around us...I need to focus more on that!!
My mom told me that the night her dad died - she was at home in bed and didn't know he had died - he came to her in a dream and let her fly with him way out into space. Then he told her she couldn't come any further with him and she had to go back. She was sad but comforted and amazed by the beauty she saw when she flew with him towards heaven. Her dad and she were very close. She found out a couple of hours later that he had died.
My aunt took care of my grandma for years and when grandma died she came to visit my aunt in the kitchen. My aunt was getting pans out of the cubbard and grandma just stood there for a moment then was gone. My nephew David - about 3 at the time told them "granny" had talked to him during the night. No one doubted him:)
Picabo: that was a wonderful dream...how God loves us and what a friend He is to us. I don't think we really realize how much of a friend He is...or at least I tend to forget that:)
Kawonkamish,
I have had some very weird, recurring dreams. The one that freaks me out the most is about a robot. I was about eight or nine, when I started dreaming about this thing.
I'm minding my own business, doing this or that, when all of a sudden I feel like I'm being stalked. I run trying to find a place to hide. I'm running here and there, always looking back behind me, feeling like it is getting closer. I can't see it, but I know it's there. I start to hear it, the sound of gears, pistons and mechanical breathing like Darth Vader. You need to understand, that when I first started having this dream, it was 1975/'76 and Star Wars hadn't come out until 1977. So I had no way, at the time, of knowing how similar this breathing sound would be.
I run to my Mother's bedroom and slam the door shut, locking it behind me. I hide in her closet, closing sliding the door shut. I can here it coming closer, calling my name. It is telling me I can't hide from it. It says it will find me, that there is nowhere to run. I can hear it in the living room; moving closer to my Mother's bedroom. The even though the bedroom door is closed and locked, I hear the lock click and the door slowly open. I can hear it moving towards the closet. It slowly opens the closet door and looks inside. Somehow it doesn't see me, as it rifles through the closet.
After what seems forever, it finely gives up and moves away, leaving the room. I listen as it moves away toward the other end of the house. I wait, inside the closet until I can't hear it anymore, to make a break for it. As I exit my Mother's room, I run right into it! It grasps my upper arms in it's cold metal hands and it quietly says, "You're mine to kill." That's when I always wake up. It looks like the Terminator, without the flesh on it. I swear it's the same robot from head to toe. As you can imagine my shock, when I first saw the 1984 movie, The Terminator.

Kawonkamish,

What a frightening dream. Glad mine are usually just silly.
Nany thanks for the book title. I have read lots on Crohns, but not that one.

That would scare me, too, Moe!!!
