Spooks and ghosts and weeping ladies...oh my! Pt 3

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Gita - What an intriguing story you have! You must have been so frightened as a child. You really should write it down.

Other dreams I have are of being suffocated, crushed or electrocuted. There are times when all I'll see is a light flashing once in a while, but it keeps me awake. Jeff has become attuned to me while asleep and he will wake me up if he hears me. One night he told me he heard me gasping for air. Generally I can tell if a dream is coming on and will start saying his name and I'll wake myself up.

Yes I do have some very freaky dreams. A couple of years ago I went 3 days without sleeping because my dreams were so horrendous. I was too scared to sleep.

(Zone 7a)

Wow, Sharon. That's aweful. Sleep deprevation brings on some bad dreams, too. At least, in me it does.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Sharon.. I have the same kind of Dream you have.. it feels so scary.. there is always a whooshing sound in mine and a feeling of being either drowned or suffocated... I too have avoided sleep because of these dreams.. I too call my hubbies name out crying for help.. feeling like I am yelling, but wake myself up to be wimpering.. sorry to intrude on this thread but it intriqued me.. Debra
Gita.... I was not pulled from my country, but I was pulled from my family and I too have reocurring dreams that are " "fantasy" dreams I am sure.. weird .. and it makes me sad..

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Debra-
I used to hear a clicking sound - now I don't hear anything. You think you're screaming and kicking, but you're not...it's weird. It's like you're strapped to the bed and can't move. I asked Jeff a long time ago when they first started "Why didnt you wake me when I was kicking and screaming?"... he said "You weren't kicking and you didn't scream". He just said I whimper sometimes and if he hears me he'll wake me up.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

yeppers here too.. weird.. hmm we have to figure this out u and me somehow cuz it is awful..

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

that is very weird - we have the same type of dream :O

how long have you had yours?

Wow, scary dreams! And Gita, your mother must've suffered terribly for herself and her kids. Glad you made it here, though!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

A couple of other recurring dreams I remember--these- when I was on the youthful side.

One was almost a nightmare. When I was younger than 7, back in Latvia, and when I got sick, I used to dream of this little "guy" running, naked, down the road. With one hand, he had the skin on his back pulled way out--as in an elastic flap--and as he was running, he kept saying: "Maya..Maya...Maya....." I have NO idea what all that was about!!!!! But I saw this several times in my dreams.

Another one was that, in my dreams when i was young, I could just touch a pile of neatly stacked small pieces of firewood (the kind we used in out kitchen stove) and when I did--I could FLY!!!! Levitate!

As an adult--I have had a few, amazingly deep, significant dreams.
The most amazing one was in 1994 after my first trip back to Latvia and the house we all grew up in! It is too long and too involved to relate--but the next morning I did write it all down---and it took 3 pages!
Probably the MOST amazing dream I have ever had!!!! And I know the significance of most of it--but NOT all of it! Glad I wrote it down.
It was a cumulation of things and events and reality and secrets we had all carried for all the years since our leaving out Country. Something we ALL had wondered about ever since! We ALL wanted to know--"What ever happened to...........???"

Generally--when I have serious dreams--they can be woozies! I am psychology-minded, and so try to "analyze" what they meant.....I believe if one is introspective enough--and honest enough--and can put 2 and 2 together---you can interpret many of your own dreams. They are NOT what you may think on an obvious level---You have to realize WHAT means WHAT.
You know what they say about dreams? It is when your "Psyche" is freed from all restrictions, hang-ups, denials, etc.....and it can just open up. That is what dreams are made of.

On odd thing in my dreams-----I NEVER see myself, but I am there as an "observer" or a "commentator".....like watching a movie.
I still have NO idea if I dream in color or black and white.....

Gita

(Zone 7a)

I never see myself, either.

Have you ever checked with your family to find out if there is a "Maya" that someone knew?

Now this is such an interesting topic(s)! I hope you don't too much if I chime in. You're stories are very enjoyable and intriguing. Since you're talking about dreams, I've had many from flying, to premonitions I guess you would call it.

One that comes to mind is when I dreamt of my best friend's husbands' death. In my dream there was a man laying on a stretcher in the hospital with the sheet covering him, I knew it was a man although I couldn't see his face. A tall doctor dressed in a white coat with the stethoscope and all walked up to me and said "It's no one's fault. It was an accident." That was pretty much it and I woke. Upon waking I raced through my mind of anyone I knew that recently died but couldn't think of any.

A week later, on a Monday I recall ,I had just gotten to work, sitting at my desk when I got the phone call. Let me back up because it was an unusually wonderful day! I woke up feeling great, notably feeling so refreshed, looking in the mirror thinking "I look so pretty, what a wonderful day!". So I got to work at 8:30am and the phone call was at 8:37am. I take the phone call and it is my best friend and all she says is that her husband is dead. No "hello" first or "brace yourself for bad news", nothing. He was hit by an 18 year old kid who was changing the radio station as my friend's husband was walking across the street. Cause of death was pronounced as an accident.

On that horrible day of 9-11 I woke from a dream that america was at war.

I've had many of these types of dreams in the past but it's been a few years.

My favorite kind of dream is a "lucid" dream. Has anyone ever had one? It's where you are dreaming and in the midst of your dream, you actually realize you are dreaming. I've only had this twice in my life that I can recall, but when you realize you're having a dream, it suddenly comes to "Life" with the most brilliant colors. I've read that you can train your mind to know when you are dreaming, but never pursued it.

(Zone 7a)

Well, well, well. Prophecies abound. More people have tham than I realized.

I've heard of them and I think I've had one. I have dreams that I'm dreaming and wake up twice. Those are weird.

Ashland City, TN

allwild818: I used to have them from time to time. I got to where I could stop and realize what was going on and relax and enjoy them. I'm pretty tired today so I can't remember many specific ones right now except for one - I was flying over an ocean. I was just above the water and I realized that I was dreaming. I started noticing the color of the ocean, how blue it was. I could feel the breeze and see the blueness of the sky. Soon dolphins were jumping along side me and we were communicating with me. I looked up and laughed and laughed. Soon I came to trees and flew through them. I landed softly on the ground in a neighborhood. It was dark but again I felt the coolness of the night, comfort and no fear. As I walked I realized it was my grandma's neighborhood where she lived when I was a child. I woke.

I don't have "specific" dreams too much anymore probably because of the medications I'm on. I also don't pray like I used to. I used to spend a lot of time in prayer, fasting, meditation...but I'm not so “focused” anymore. I think when we do spend time in prayer or meditation we open a door. When we are tired and stressed we also open ourselves to negative "waves".

Anyway...I do miss those special dreams - colorful, flying dreams. But I guess I don't miss them enough to do anything about it.

(Zone 7a)

I miss the vivid dreams of my childhood. As an adult, it's hard to catch that wonder but I keep trying.

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

I would love to have a dream like that - one I could enjoy. Not much in the way of dreams for me lately. I'm not complaining with the types I have LOL!

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Celia - we crossed. There is only 1 dream I remember from my childhood and it was a recurring weird one too!

(Zone 7a)

I wouldn't complain, either. lol

(Zone 7a)

We crossed again! LOL

Recurring ones are strange.

I had a dream the other night that I was setting up a computer for my mother. In our old house in So Cal. Don't know what that means. Darrell suggested I was trying to open communications with mom.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm a lurker here. I haven't had any crazy dreams in a long time.

He might be right.

(Zone 7a)

Lurkers are welcome to pop in now and then.

Hi, Crissy!!! I think he might be, too. I had another a little like it last night.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I miss my dreams of being able to jump up and fly above houses, thru the trees , ducking telephone wires, feeling the breeze in my face and seeing the earth below me.. I used to dream that same dream alot, they stopped around the age of 30, I also miss my dreams of being able to breathe under water while I swam like a mermaid.. as a child we swam in the old horse tank filled with algea and we pretended to be mermaids , my sister and I... my underwater dreams were beautiful and colorful, and I would always marvel at the fact that I was breathing under the water and then wake up at the realization.. those dreams also stopped around the age of 30.. good fantasy dreams I used to look forward too.. they have all gone away .. at the age of 57 it seems I dream of work, alien happenings, being abducted or chased, or running from some bad world happening ...

(Zone 7a)

From time to time, I still have dreams of running and jumping long distances. Like a long jumper with wings. In my dreams, I KNOW I'm actually skimming along the ground but never touching it. Not exactly flying but close enough for me.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I dream of falling all the time, I wake up with a big Jump. Hate it!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

I have those dreams a lot too, kwan. Yikes, crissy, I would hate that rude awakening! Gee, joeswife, I wonder what happened when you turned 30?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

chrissy--

I believe "falling" in dreams has a definite meaning. ...as I am sure "flying" has.
NOT sure if i remember this correctly---so don't take it as a fact--but I seem to remember that "falling" means a loss of control of things in one's life.

Have you, or anyone, ever, seriously, looked into Dream Interpretation? I wonder what would come up if one Googled it..........?????

Waiting to hear--if any of you have. Then we could share a lot more small things about what we dream about.

G.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

hmm in my late 20's I was widowed and married again at 30... does that have anything to do with dreams..I am married to a Guardian Angel, I think..

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Gita - I haven't.
JW - :) You lucky girl!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

one of my daughters had a Dream book... have no clue where it would be, they are all moved out except for their boxes and storage cans down here in the basement..I do remember looking up what dreaming of spiders meant.. it meant having an OVERBEARING MOTHER in your life..

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

OMG - I'm cracking up!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Why haven't I dreamed about spiders then?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Me too Sharon LOL LOL LOL Any correlation there? LOL

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Me too LOL!

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

I wonder what it means to dream you are physically turning into a giant chicken while walking down the street to the tune of "The Good The Bad and The Ugly"?

THAT my friends was my recurring dream as a child LOL!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

ROFLOL, now THAT is scary!!

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

Yup! Totally freaked me out as a kid though!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I bet!! That's hilarious! I wanna dream that! LOL

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

OK! I Googled "Dream Interpretations"...and will post a few of the sites I checked into.

http://dreammoods.com/cgibin/chasedreams.pl?method=exact&header=dreamid&search=chaseintro

http://www.dreamsleep.net/

OK! There are oodles of sites--but many of them you have to subscribe to or are otherwise--NOT free--or downright stupid! Google it yourself ans do what you wish......

GO FLY!!!!!! Have fun!!!!

(Zone 7a)

Maybe a new thread on the dreams we had last night would be fun. What do you all think?

Amelia Island, FL(Zone 9a)

looking up giant chickens...

(Zone 7a)

Maybe you have dreamt of spiders and then decided to NOT remember.

The Chicken Heart is a Bill Cosby routine. Ever hear that? It's hilarious.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OH I Love Bill Cosby! He's absolutely hilarious! Yes, I have watched rerun after rerun on him.
