You are so funny Giillian..to the dump/to the dump...sounds as though it's the 'in' place!
When you home school, do they have to write exams i.e. in the school system or are you also able to give them the tests....
Poor Ella, sure can sympathize with her..know tooth aches and ear aches made you 'unhappy'..lol
Thanks for the information on the curds..maybe I'll have to get some yams and make fries...would they melt on the fries or would I have to melt them...to me they just don't look like something I'll enjoy...I eat cheese i.e. grilled cheese sandwhiches or the odd cracker and cheese but not something I'm fond of..nice of her though to go through the trouble of bringing me some...
Well, Suzanne just called, change in her schedule so I can meet her in Hillsdale and ride in with her...oh happy days...problem is, I'm still in my jammies so better get a move on...
Talk later
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #64 visit with friends...
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could wear your jammies to work??
Hmmm-not sure what I learned yesterday...my best moment yesterday was when I figured something out my corporate IT said wasn't possible-so I felt pretty smart yesterday!!LOL
hellooooooo
feeling good but tired and thats ok.
your all so busy your putting me to shame..... just getting my feet back on the ground...
hello to laura number 2!
betty i live in the clothes you lovlies have sent me, between yourself and the other gals i live in them! so nice to have clothes to fit... i am a 6 to a 6x in tops for sure.... i love them.....
this has been my first full time week this week so really tired but ok. The boss seems to be off my back for the moment which is good.
hugs to you
xx
Morning Laura...takes awhile to get all your strength back, you've been so run down that it won't happen overnight...I can just picture you prancing in your 'lovelies'
As for crafting, you'll be doing a Victorian Santa along with us on the Victorian Santa 2nd annual on-line craft day..know you will be sleeping when we do it, but we'll manage to find a time, I could get up extra early and you could stay up extra late..lol.. how are those grandchildren? Laura they are calling for snow again on Monday, a substantial amount and here you are looking forward to your spring...we're all envious...what temps do you have now??? Sooo glad that your boss is laying off for awhile...maybe you should just one day say, 'know it's been difficult for you as I've been off a lot, want to thank you for your patience' sometimes that gets you bonus points and a smile...lol..worth a try...
Linda Kay going to try that link..who knows, might enjoy curds although I already told Suzanne I'd bring them in for her...
Stacey, when I want to clean house, really clean house I stay in my jammies...I work twice as hard...so might be a bonus for the boss, think of all the crafts I could do...lol..
31 Santa faces sitting on window ledge here..after my call to Sharon I'll do some painting...
Ice on the windshield this morning...sky is almost black, either it will rain or we'll have more snow...early this year...
Best telephone my sister...
I clean in crappy clothes-I am a messy cleaner and end up with bleach and all other stuff on me!!LOL Have learned not to wear wnything I care about while cleaning!!LOL
Stacey, I am the same way. I clean early in the morning, with my junk clothes, because I have ruined so many tops with bleach!!! As hard as I try to not spray it all ovre, I still get bleach spots!!!
Betty, I have never had plain curd either, I have never heard of cranberry curds! But I do like cheese. Sandwhich, sharp cheddar, (the sharper the better) riocotta cheese in lasagna, goat cheese on grilled portabella mushrooms...
Betty, don't work too hard on those santa faces. I bet you will be glad to be done with all those santa faces? What is your next project? Something for spring?
Wonder, I joined this group not too long ago, so I don't know what was wrong, but glad to hear your feling better.
Ladies have a terrific day.
Linda Kay
Actually if I took count Linda Kay I've probably enough..am sure after this batch I will...but in the mold there were 2 smaller faces, so poured them as well and will send 1 of them with each kit ordered so that maybe you can play with it and make another treasure..these here are no longer for our project, their done, packed and on their way...these are for the other 2 workshops I have going on...
Not sure if this will work, but it's what I'm listening to..between Santa faces and Iris folding Christmas cards it's got me in the mood...my computer is set to play all day long....lol..only works if you have sound speakers..
Save it and join me...
http://new.icebergradio.com/
Just tried it, press seasonal then the Christmas music...lol
Come on girls I don't hear you singing 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas'...louder please...
Thanks for the link Betty. It does work here.
What is your favorite carol? Mine is little drummer boy, and ave maria.
LK
I like rudolph and frosty;)
I'll be home for Christmas
Betty, Sage has the day off tomorrow, so it’s going to be a long day, at least I don’t have the other two tomorrow; though I might have the little one, his mom hasn’t let me know yet.
I don’t think I’ve met a cheese I really don’t like, but my favorites are aged chedder, havarti and gorgonzola. I also like goat cheese, so does Sage.
Stacey, I get to wear my “jammies” to work everyday, but then I work at home.
Good Morning!!
LOL, Stacey...Jacob is my jokester. He is always doing goofy things.
...we sent that picture along with some nice boy pictures to his Coach. Coach was sent to Iraq in September. So the team sent a care package along with some pictures.
Betty, oh my gosh, turned on the radio station, busted out in laughter as People were giving me the crazy look.
Love Little Drummer Boy...What child is this, Oh Come all Ye Faithfaul, is my most favoriteof all
OH MY Gosh, I am so jealous, DH took Julia and Tony, the current bf of 1 month to work with him. Imagine, they get to be out in the sunshine painting, and making some cash...LOL, told Steve, if I had vacation time left, I would go too.
Hope you are all having a grand day.
What a wonderful way to have class Gilli. Plus, you get to spend a great time with Sonora as well.
Judy-your son sounds like we might be related!!LOL I do that all the time-I was trying on the funny hats at BOnners and when we were checking into the hotel I put on a frog skull cap with ears and all and had all the guests crackin up!!LOL
I don't like what I call "feet cheese";)
Laura-that is how I spend pretty much every day off:)
Judy, you can key in to all kinds of music..we all have Christmas music on here today, guys are moving, putting us in a festive mood...Robert my other BIL - 10 months younger than Roger just dropped in, he's helping with the move, walks into my office, can hear music, thinks he's hearing incorrectly, shakes his head and says 'Betty, you've got to be kidding' then looks over and sees me painting all these Santas..shakes his head and walks off...
Then both he and Suzanne (his sister) are gabbing about Christmas decorations and he says he has about 15 boxes from when Barb used to do crafts with me every year on my family fun craft day workshop..Barb passed away about 5 years ago, now has a new honey, she's lovely, love her to death as I did Barb, said I'd give her a call to join us all on Nov. 15th....eyebrows went up...so laughing, I'll convert another into crafting...
Lost a post earlier in cyberspace so thought I'd better press send...
Glad you like the music...
Called the hospital and Sharon is very depressed..imagine so with just laying on her back..said her hair hadn't been washed in 3 week and they washed it yesterday...
I hadn't heard of this method, because she's in so much pain the have a cap she said that's much like a shower cap, they put it in the microwave for a few minutes, put it on her head, massage/massage/massage and when they took it off her hair was wet and clean...
She said that for about a week she had a 95 yr. old lady in her room..couldn't hear a thing-wears hearing aid but doesn't..so Sharon said she couldn't talk much with her but Sharon said she put her to shame, still lives on her own, does her own chores and said that this little old lady was jumping in and out of bed...lol
Now she has a 35 year old..after Sharon's hair was washed this lady french braided it..how wonderful..that alone Sharon said made her feel a little better...
Not sure what's going to happen with her...she's waiting for the Dr. to come in..they said they are short staffed in the MRI department and it's been 1 week and still no time for them to type up the report...so, her doctor is calling this morning asking for a verbal update...she said she'd have my mom call me as soon as she got news...I almost choked, wasn't it yesterday my mom said I shouldn't have animals/pets as I wasn't willing (nor her sister) to spend $8,000. for an operation for my pet??? maybe she'll be in a better mood, as long as we don't talk animals and their ailments...
Laura (Wonder) in a post this past week you said we sure had lots of holidays...I don't believe you do "Halloween" right? do you have a "Thanksgiving"? in Canada our was 2 weeks ago, yet about another month I believe for that in USA....
Judy is where Steve and the kids are downtown, is it in one of those condo complexes, the once he just got the big job for???
Is everyone bitting their nails at work this week Judy?
OK girls here's today's question of the day...
How many different colours do you need to colour a world map so that no bordering countries share the same colour?
Think you know the answer?
I am guessing 26...
I need one of those caps-sounds awesome!!
No this job is a row building I beleive something like 30 or 40 Decks.
They are power washing and painting railing, re-placing bad boards.
One of DH partners has disappeared! We have no idea what happened, but we think he went into a rehab. place just hope wherever he his, He is ok.
OK, you know i have been sitting here, nothing going on...No one has been in my area for some time, day in and day out right. So, today i decided to bring in material for Santa and do a little work right...So just laid everything out, getting ready to pin and wouldn't you know it, in comes not one but a group of 4 people looking at the stuff on my shelves!! So, I stop to help them find what they are looking for...they leave, I go about my fabric and then another person walks in! And just now someone else, my gosh. I have no clue who these people are...
...Betty, morale is way down, tomorrow is suppose to be the big fundraiser and no one is in the mood, People are looking to be leaving so it is not a fun place to be at the moment. I just want to know, getting anxious.
Judy-what do you do??
Stacey, I work for a publishing co.
My job is to accomidate all mailings of promotional materials.
...I create samples for our sales force to use in presentations.
LOL, I am a glorified paper pusher!!
Our company has merged about a year ago and slowly integrating all the various offices. Next week our group finally finds out if we will continue from this office or not. Much has changed in the way of operation and as of late we are at a standstill for alot of things.
I have been with this office for 21.5 years, life is going to be quite different either way...
Judy works for a type of publishing firm..it was bought out I believe last year and they are revamping, many have been let go so she thinks she'll be next although she's worked there for ions... does that about cover it Judy...
The partner that has gone missing, is he the young gentleman who came to the house in the morning to meet Steve while Liz and I were there? ooooh sure hope they find him...
Bev, still saying prayers for you..any news on your son?
Barrie which is the town we'll be working from are holding a vigile..today they are resuming a search for a 15 year old boy...they did find his bike..apparently on Thanksgiving weekend after arguing with him about continual playing of war games, he grabbed his school bag and left..Monday will be 2 weeks..today they have the hellicopter and search parties out..parents think that while on computer he might have come across some unsavory characters....one has to watch for that...lol...all kidding aside, let's hope they find him..they are frantic...
Judy I laugh at Paul, I always say that as soon as I start crafting we get busy so he encourages the crafts...so, did you get everything cut??? how many of these lovelies will you have...your girlfriend is coming right??
You asked the other day when we'd do it on-line...just waiting till pkgs arrive at their destination and we'll pick a few dates...
Because Paul has taken all of the furniture from the office next door, both LeeAnn and Cindy will be working in our office..anything is better than *&*&
Back from lunch..had a panzarotti...only ate 1/4, taking the rest home..must be Italian week..had 3 Italian meals so far...
Judy we must have crossed posted...lol...yep, must have beenpaying attention..think I got it correctly
Ohhh, I am so sad, just read Gunner's Journal.
Please go to G-man prayer thread.
I know you have praying for him too.
Hi all!!! I got lost and missed the last 106 posts. Yes Judy I posted 20 photos on the contest. Betty no I haven't heard from Fred. His birthday is 27th and the card came back to me so back to square one. I gotta just keep busy or will think of too many bad things you know. I am sure he is ok just nonthinking. He can't have children so will never have to worry about them. Here is a funny for you all. LOVE & HUGS BEV
Judy off to read Gunner's thread...
Bev...they say when kids are small you worry, doesn't change just because they age does it...hope he gets in touch with you..look at that photo...just too cute..
Betty, for poutine the cheese curds melt and become a nice gooey mess when the gravy is poured on . . . . mmmm. With homeschooling we don't do tests or exams. I realized that tests are basically a tool for teachers to see how much their students know. Report cards are a way for teachers to tell the parents how much their children know. Since I'm able to spend more one-on-one time with Sonora, there are other ways for me to see how well she understands things. I was considering having her do course work where she'd have to send work in to a centre and have it marked and get a report card. Then I realized that if/when she decides to go back to school they'll just put her in her age-appropriate grade so a report card doesn't really matter that much. Universities and colleges are also more accepting of home-schooled kids now too.
I hope you get the news you want, Judy. It must be frustrating to feel like you're in limbo.
Gillian, wondered about testing..that makes sense..know the schools around here regardless of how well they are doing in the school system they are promoted to the next grade..don't think that's right but there must be data showing it's the correct way ...
Any consideration being given for Keith to find employment closer to here, or north of here for next year???
Home, had my bath now it's costume time...
For those of you who have been following my sister has been quite ill for quite some time, only in her early 50's and has been using a walker..for the past several months off and on, more on than off she's been bedridden..for the past 3 weeks she's been in the hospital on morphine drip...pain even when moving her head is extreme...
Finally this afternoon her doctor said they would be moving her downtown Toronto to another facility for a major operation, one that might leave her without use of her legs..right now if they say 'no more pain' she's happy about that..can't take anymore...
Talked for awhile but because of the meds she dozes off in between conversations...at least in Toronto I'll be able to call as much as I want and not long distance, not that it matters about the telephone bill but at work I try not to call, bad enough I do crafts all day let alone use up long distance...
So please if you can a little prayer would be appreciated...
I was in bathing when Greg arrived, came to get the gorilla costume for Noah..all 4 are going to a costume party on Friday.. so didn't soak as long as I wanted to...
He never sees anything out of place and tonight I've material everyone...extra santa's, Victorian Santa velvet, stuffing...body pieces, a dead 'groom' lol and he shook his head said he'd never seen my house in such disrepair..lol that's okay, a few days and we're back on track...
Off I go..mega things to do...
Some of you have been following the Gunnar thread on the prayer line...this little boy fought a hard battle, now with the Lord...prayers for his family/friends and Shar who has helped out so much...
Life is not always easy is it...
Betty our prayers go out for you, your sister and family and to all the friends, family and everyone involved with Gunnar....we will just have to continue with the faith that the Good Lord knows what is best......
Prayers for all Betty.
Bev, you too, I sure hope your son, appears. I know how you feel, I have a Brother that always get involved and does not call unless
something is terribly amiss. With a a wish his gf will get a message to him pronto.
I am going to say goodnight.
I love you all..
See you on the morrow.
Thanks Trisha...means a lot...
Bev, a few more prayers and I'm sure he'll call..boys (men) they just don't think do they...here you are worried as can be, probably can't sleep/can't eat and he's just going along not knowing anyone is worrying...hmmm..well let's hope you get a call by the weekend...now what would happen if something happened to you or DH??? and you couldn't reach him..tell him Auntie Betty said he just HAS TO make himself available...
Talking of kids..
I always drop what ever I am doing when the kids or grandchildren ask me for something...after all they are my life, but, just got a call from my DIL Melanie... what is it 10:08 asking what I'm doing..getting ready for bed..hello.. I get up at 4:45am...tells me Kyle is e-mailing me a picture...
Now you have to know my schedule ... I just finished all the Victorian Santa kits-out in the mail..painted more for the other 2 workshops...on schedule....have all the packages together for a class on Saturday that I'm teaching...have things to pick up tomorrow after work for it...my craft room is upside down, needs a cleaning..working on Caleb's Abominable Snowman costume, Noah just picked his up, Braedon's just has a few things to finish it...Kyle well he didn't think he'd go out....
Soooo Melanie says, the picture that Kyle is sending you is of a Blackberry..he's decided that's what he wants to be...ok..if I don't sleep I can manage...then she goes on to tell me they have a costume party Sat. night/Wedn. and at School Friday so it would get a lot of use...
Now where do they think I'll find time to fit in a costume...
Saddens me that he'll be disappointed, but HELLO...wakie wakie I'm only one person....
So that's my quandry..what to do/what to do?
Betty! Betty!
Just say "NO!" Sorry! I cannot!--do not have enough time--have 99 other projects to finish, etc.....no other explanation is necessary.
If you do choose to "kill yourself" with one more thing to do--like--just yank my chain, and I will comply--you are teaching them that you are a doormat and they can walk all over you anytime they choose....without even wiping their feet!
You are also teaching Kyle and Noah that they are entitled to anything they ask for--without consideration of the other person.
Melanie asking you this! Geez! Teach her to sew--have HER spend a fortune every year on the kids costumes! You just can't keep doing EVERYTHING anyone asks of you! ....unless you choose to......???????
Being "used" by anyone really, really gets MY gall! Why do YOU allow yourself to be used??????? You are being taken advantage of--and you mistake complying with all this as LOVE! I am sure there are a million other ways you show love to your Grandsons!
OK! I am off my soapbox......Phewww......
Gita
You say "I'm really sorry but..."and then you tell her what you told us. You are just one person and can only do so much. If you had had more notice maybe but under the circumstances, "NO!".
My one DS is very big on telling people the truth, even if we think it may hurt them...or us. Used to try and please everyone and felt quilty when I couldn't, but lately I have been seeing the wisdon of his way. When I am up front with someone about what I can and can't do, they seem to respond to that and frequently even apologize for asking me to do something that put me into overload.
Be kind to yurself Betty...even one with your schedule can only do so much.
You said it better Gita... Go Gal!
