Was asked to move over, with all the photo's it's just too difficult to download...
So here we are, comfy new room, colorful with all the leaves showing brilliant reds/oranges/yellows....so come on in and stay awhile, keep Betty company..lol...
Thought because we were in a new room I'd post the following question... and we would like to see some of you lurkers join in the fun, see if you know the answer......
On the day that the DOW Jones tanked 778 points, stock of THIS company went up! I guess people are putting their stock (literally) in things that make us feel better. What stock went up on September 29th?
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #64 visit with friends...
I guess gold, or maybe something in the food line. I know food prices are going up?
Linda Kay
Hi...
Found ya!
Betty, Are you wearing one of your pretty new outfits? Glad you got a good nights rest.
Had a ball at craft table last night. lol, kids lined up with items needing to be sewn.
Breenie got in the creative mind and made an ornament with some clay flowers, ribbon and material, kept me company while I sewed a few items.
Hiya GG, nice to see you. Did, you go on your friendship cruise to nowhere yet??
DH pulled our boat this past weekend and the pier. So cottage resting for the winter.
It was quite chilly last night so i pulled out the heavy blanket.
Geeze, have no idea on the question.
another boring day at the office and not much new.
Judy, yes I'm dressed in pink...just got back from lunch and I'm sneezing away as well..should have bought some cough candies when Suzanne did, looks as though I'll be needing them...
Come on Judy take a guess at the question, might surprise you...
Breenie is quite the little artisan, will she be doing a santa?
I'll be driving myself in all week, Suzanne has mega meetings so will afford me the opportunity to go pick up velvet for Mrs. Claus...costume material then another day I can pick up odds ends of materials I need for this Saturday's course...
If I remember correctly, didn't Ruby go on her vacation this week???
Hi Judy. Yes, I went alst weekend on my "girls cruise". There were 14 of us and we had a blast. It needed to be another night!! I needed more money for the casino too!!
Know you told us Jeannine, but how far from where you live did you have to travel to in order to take this cruise AND if you don't mind my asking (sure you don't lol) what would they charge for such a cruise...
One never knows..always looking to do something different..
When I was in Miami I took the 1 day port cruise to the Bahama's...really enjoyed it..
LOL, must be the day for new threads, just about all the one i watch have started a new thread.
GG...So glad you had a fantastic time on the cruise. I forgot they had those casino's on them.
No Betty, kids won't be doing Santas, I asked but they just laughed and said it was too early for Santas...LOL, Never too early, huh.
OK my guess,Chocolate, lol it always makes me feel good.
Hope you find material for Mrs. Clause.
Day was long and uneventful. Well two weeks left to wait. Everyone must be feeling the "boot", cuz i have been asked for good paper by several...resumes!
The guess on day is Mon, Wed, or Friday of next week. But we did learn, that they have to give a 7 day notice. We figure it won't be this week because We have a big fundraiser on Friday, so it will be next week.
Judy, got your envelope today, thanks....
You just might be surprised Judy and they'll keep most of you on...efficiency does count...
Laughing at the kids, yep, Kyle loved spending time with grandma doing gifts for all special holidays to give to mom/dad, grandma/grandpas, teachers ...used to come every Tuesday to play bingo, now he's just toooo big, and what would others think knowing he was doing crafts...knew it wouldn't be long coming...sad though isn't it...
Sitting here yawning...must go put eardrops in, have a bath to warm me up, got the santa hair finally so will get it cut, bagged ready for shipment...
Betty, you need to see a doc for that bad ear. You have had it for too long now, and they can get bad, if not treated right away. You don't need that ear ache, on top of that cold!!!
Please take care.
Linda
Since all of you have colds now I hope it doesn't move over to Stacey and me but I think it already has. Feeling tired, achey, nose wants to run... and I go back to work tomorrow for the next three days. Oh, well, pay check at the end of the week so guess it could be worse.
Take care of that earache. Do see an ear, nose and throat man. I had a back case of vertigo; had to call the EMT's since I couldn't get out of bed. It turned out to be infections in both inner ears brought on by a simple cold. So don't fiddle around with it.
LIsten to MOM, eh?
Betty, how old is Kyle? There is always the chance he’ll grow out of the “I’m to old for that stuff” phase. I know it didn’t take me long to grow out of some of those, and at this point I don’t really think there is anything I’m “too old for” just things that are too inane, but that includes some “adult” conversations I’ve had.
Janice, I’m in about the same boat. I can’t quite make up my mind if I’m sick, but if I’m not I sure feel horrible; achey, headache, not being able to get comfortable temp wise (like sweaty and shivering). But, what’s one to do, you’ll either get better or worse.
That is the truth, isn't it. Well, if I am going to get it I want it now.
On Halloween I am going to St. Louis, Mo to visit my 100 yr old father. He is in great health and while he lives in a retirement community he is still in his own apartment. I was lucky to get in between his bridge, visits to step-family, two chorus's for a visit.
Don't want to be sick for the visit nor run the risk of giving him anything bad. Pic of Dad at 100th party with all the little ones.
Janice, sure looks like he's going strong. We could all be so lucky.
OMG, he looks wonderful Janice..don't think it was Rita who passed it on, everyone around here is walking around here with colds...just put drops in my ear, think I'll take meds with me to work..only passed through St.Louis and it was at night, bridge lit up, always wanted to go back and visit...lucky you..will you fly or drive?
Zhinu, Kyle will be turning 13 going on 30 in December..teen...has his snowmobile license, boat license..not into girls (yet)...so like his father, never really a child, always carrying the troubles of the world on his shoulders....the other 3, well that's a different story but none into keeping grandma company with crafting...
So cold out there this morning, wouldn't doubt we are at the freezing mark, even Sailor did not want to go out..with travelling to the city on my own today I'll leave in a few minutes as it's a heavy rain and who knows might even be icy patches...can't believe its here already..calling I think for warmer temps the next few days....
Stacey, jaw is hurting as well, lol, think it's because I walked around in Bonners all morning with my jaw open in awe of the beauty..good news last night..all the hair came in..it's now cut..pkgs ready to go out!
So off I go...
Talk later when I reach the city...
hmmm-that is a tricky-something that makes us feel better-I am gonna guess Ben & Jerry's
Answer to yesterdays question:
Campbell's Soup. Comfort foods are doing well in these tough financial times. Campbell's will start their new marketing campaign soon, "Warm Hearts without stretching budgets."
OMG here I was worried about possible ice on the roads because of how cold it was..shortly after I left the house for about 30 miles it was snowing, then snow turned to rain for the rest of my journey...just don't like the thought of it....
Here I am, 1/2 hr. early - all my cardstock out so I can start cutting cards...doubtful anyone will be in the office today because they are trying to get the men moved into the new location...
Praise be the Lord!!!! lol
Now tell me what you have planned for the day...
Is anyone able to chat and keep me company?
OOOOPS forgot the question of the day...
A recent study shows that the more of this you have...apparently, the more intelligent you tend to be.
So lets see.....
It can't be kids, cause they suck your brains right out....
It can't be money cause I know some pretty stupid "rich" people.....
So if it's sex, please don't tell my husband!!
Betty..Campbell soup is getting pricey.
My friend and I were looking at Chicken Rice soup yesterday as she likes to stock up for the winter cold season.
It was $1.57 in one store and $1.69 in another.
I told her to just make her own Chicken rice soup using soup base from the Bulk store..and some rice and freeze it.
Just a guess at the answer to your question.........friends?..or maybe money?
Sheila and I have our square dance class this afternoon.
Can't believe you had snow on your way down..wow!
Jeanine...LOL
Jeannine, nope not sex so you can relax!!! lol
Square dancing..I love square dancing..sure wish I lived closer to you and Sheila...I taught line dancing for 5 or 6 years..should get back to it even if it is on my own and in my own home..
Are there a lot of square dancing clubs that compete in your area? Sounds as though you are enjoying yourself....
Called Sharon last night, when she was admitted to the hospital a few weeks ago her new doctor was just getting ready to attend a conference so said another would watch over her needs..well on the Saturday he sent her home, said she could rest just as well at home...
She was in severe pain, couldn't move but home she went..she asked if she could stay as she's on her own..but said he needed the bed..not true...she was rushed back into hospital and morphine has been upped..pain increased..her doctor visited yesterday and asked what to h..... was she doing going home..guess the other doctor said she asked to do so, she told him absolutely NOT...he said he would be in contact with him and the hospital to determine how they could have possibly under her condition be sent home...
Today she's waiting to find out when they will operate? Imagine...
Betty, sounds like a practical kid, that’s usually the type to get over trying to “be a grown up” early. There is hope, but he probably won’t do it for a couple years, but come high school I could see him coming back, just depends on how into girls he gets.
It’s cold as frog toes today, but not quite freezing; Google says it’s 35 degrees, it’s supposed to freeze tonight. Looks like I need to get my plants in.
I plan to get the kids off to school, go back to sleep, get up, go to grocery store, get Sage, fold laundry, load dishwasher, clean bathroom, bring in plants, cook dinner, put Sage to bed… other than that it depends on how I feel. I might get to work on my next pumpkin, get photos sorted into categories, play video games (Trent needs help), watch DVDs, I don’t know…
Imagination?
Betty, in the future if it's 6-8 am and you want a chat buddy d-mail me and I'll pop over. I didn't get here until 7:15 this morning but I'd been on for an hour at that point.
Well, I woke up this morning to SNOW! It's the first snow of the season. Now I'm glad that I was able to finish up most of the yard work last week.
Betty, I loved seeing your pictures of Frankenmuth. I can't believe that Christmas is only 2 months away.
Yesterday was DH's birthday so the kids and I made him a black forest cake. I usuall don't like cheeries unless they're fresh but I have to say that the cake was delicious. It must have been the container and a half of whipped cream that we used on it.
For the past few years we've had a scary party around Hallowe'en but I just don't think it's going to happen this year. I need to get some of the junk in our basement cleared out and I just don't have the energy to put into putting together a haunted house. I really enjoy doing it but for my own sanity I need to set limits.
Thanks Zhinu...
Shucks just got into a hmmmm would one call it a discussion or 'fight' with darling mother...
We were talking about Sharon .. Sharon had already told me that mom came to visit her yesterday, came in, said hi for a few seconds and then left because Jim was in the van with her 'doggie' so I said Mom you know Sharon is really down because of all of this, couldn't you have left the dog at home and stayed longer...oh oh...
Then for those of you who remember Aunt Muriel and our trip to Florida I happened to ask if she was going again this this..she said that Aunt Muriel said with the exchange being as it is not likely...then mom says to me, 'imagine, he dog (who is 10) is starting to go blind and Muriel says she can go blind because of her age and it costing about $8,000. to have eye operation' mom is totally disgusted, so I said that if Sailor went blind at her age, sorry she would just have to go blind as there is no guarantee and $8,000 could be spent other ways... again...not the thing to say..
Said people like me shouldn't have dogs then if I'm not prepared to look after them...imagine...I said I care for people and their needs more than a dog..although I love Sailor and she's my trusted companion I'd probably spend $1,000 0r $2,000 but that would be it...
She says 'bye' hangs up..guess I won't be on her Christmas list..
I'm a lover of animals but lordy, humans do come first...at least in my opinion...
Mom's the lady that spend about $6,000 just to put artificial eyes in her last dog so you wouldn't see the blindness in them and the vet had told her she'd have some pressure feelings if she didn't...then burried in a top notch cemetery...
ggggggrrrrrrrrrr
Good for you Gillian..not many of us know our limits...glad you do! but, once those kids start asking/begging sometimes you just can't resist...
Doesn't the school do something for the entire community to attend?
Your snow might stay correct? Ours today hit the ground and melted as quickly as it touched..that's today...
Tell Keith happy belated birthday..cake sounds yummy...
2 months away..yep...are your relatives coming up? didn't they last year? not easy for you to do with the children and all....
Hi Gillian,
I have heard there is snow all aournd today..a friend to the east of me ..in Pontypool..
and another north west of Tornot..and then Betty saying it snowed on her way down to work today..
I guess we are going to have to accept it.
Wise decision for you to think of yourself and not push, just because you think you should.
You have your hands full with the children.
Black Forest Cake sounds yummy with all that whipped cream on it. LOL
Betty don't know about square dancing at all in the area. Sheila and I just signed up at the senior's centre to get a bit of exercise.
No plans to carry any further than the once a week class for the next 7 Tuesdays.
Glad to hear your sister has her own doctor back and will give her the care she needs.
I know what you mean about pets, Betty. I have a black lab that is a sweetie. Everyone that meets her falls in love with her. This summer she was found to have two masses; one in the kidney and one near the stomach. Original estimate for surgery was $5300 then went up to $8000 with finding additional problems! Shadow is 12 yrs. old. While I love her and will miss her very much, I decided not have surgery and let nature take it's course. She is showing no symptoms and eating well. That was 6 months ago and she is still showing no signs of illness. When she does and is in pain I'll will deal with it but until then I just love her for every day I have her.
I can't imagine them sending your sister home in her condition. I hope the original doctor will have a very stern talk with the guy he left in charge. And that your sister wont have to use HIM again. I can be a really problem when you live alone and have any kind of medical problems. It's nice to be independent but there are definitly things that need two people to do or times when you need someone to take care of you. I have struggled with this problem myself.
Janice, you said it, love Sailor to bits but when it comes I won't prolong her agony, I'll make the right decision...
Sharon raised 2 boys infact one is 41 and the other 38 then she re-married and although we tried to talk her out of it she adopted 2 girls..one now 15 the other 14..got Nikki only hours after she was born..divorced about 6 years after..thank goodness she and her hubby were wealthy, she wants for nothing nor do the girls...
The eldest of the 2 now lives with her dad as Sharon cannot control her..think same is happening with Nikki, love of Sharon's life..she has spoilt her beyond reason and now she'll pay the price...
When Sharon was home the other day she asked Nikki to help out, she heard her tell her sister, why bother, she'll be back in a few weeks and she can do it herself...Sharon wasn't in the position to get up and do something about it..they are soooo lucky Aunt Betty wasn't around!!!
I love children, will spend endless hours with them, one thing I will not tolerate in my children, grandchildren and others children is being mouthy or lack of respect...has gotten me into trouble more than once...guess that's why I'm living alone..lol...then she has her 41 who is divorced, living with her (don't know how many times she's given him a date to move out and yet he refuses..she says the only time he will move out is if she sells and moves...sad...much of her bed she's made herself...still sad though...
Just so excited, picked up the material I needed for the Abominable Snowman...wow.... when these boys get older will have to tell them just how much the yardage was to make them...guilt trip/guilt trip...just kidding...
Did see my material though for Mrs. Claus..will go on Thursday and pick some up..I couldn't do both in my 1 hr. shopping and lunch...
IT IS COLD out there!
Betty, make sure we get pictures of all these costumes please?
Stay warm
LK
I was going to purchase white fur Linda Kay for the snowman but he had one that resembled sheep texture..thought it might look better..who knows, only for one night right?
Make me feel bad Linda Kay lol how cold is it in your neck of the woods...
And I am keeping warm, have one of my new outfits on and the tops are sooooo comfy and warmmm....
Uh Hum, it is only 79 right now. Still wearing shorts, and tank tops here!!!
LK
OMG 79 degrees, what I wouldn't give...now when does your weather start to change or are you going to be very brave and tell me you'll wear your shorts all year round? Would you enjoy having 'now'?
It gets really cold here usually late December, early January, (30 degrees) but just for about 3 - 6 weeks, then it is back to shorts. No heavy coats here though. Just a nice sweater, or sweats. Now hubby stays in shorts year round, but I like my sweaters to cuddle up in. 2 years ago, we got a real bad freezing rain for about 2 weeks, and that was really cold, but our winters are usually about 30 derees for a month or so. Then it creeps back up to the 40's... And my the end of April, I have my new garden all planted.
LK
Aren't you the lucky one, Rita just called to tell me maybe I should be leaving early, snow storm up north...yuk
Drive carefull.
LK
Suzanne has specialist appt. tomorrow so is leaving at 2:00pm...she said if I wanted to leave my vehicle in the underground parking and didn't mind going to Midland for 1/2 hr. she'd drop me off and pick me up..that way when she leaves tomorrow I'll have my vehicle...
The Rita was telling me that my girlfriend Shawnee who lost her husband last year and who had a daughter with a heart/kidney problem (born with it) now 28...was rushed into the hospital..Shawnee is having fits..is sure she'll be left along..poor soul...Shannon moved in up north, left her job in the city and found alternate work so she could keep an eye on her mom, now it is reversed.... prayers needed...
Decided to drive myself home, bad for about 40 miles, the other 60 I just had to be cautious..just after my last post Paul came in and told us to leave which took us about 2 secs. and out of there we were...
Stopped at the post office...A letter from Revenue Canada was sitting waiting for me...isn't it funny, we all start to sweat when we see their letterhead...
It read..
The Canada Pension Plan periodically reviews the accounts of clients to ensure that they are receiving the correct benefit amount. As part of this process, we have recently reviewed your account and have re-calculated the amount of your benefit...
We have determined that WE OWE YOU $724.59 which will be issued to you with your next month payment..as of October 2008 your new monthly pension entitlement will increase by $4.05!
Oh happy days, more Christmas shopping....
made my day...
