How goes it down yon way Capt. Josh?? I need to look you up.. I have quite a few friends in, Queensland, Perth and near areas, as well as Dunedin, NZ...
By the way...I woke up to Frost warnings from 2am til 9am Sunday, so I guess winter is officially beginning...Fortunately, I snagged the last of my plants that needed to be inside yesterday...
I sure do hope I can get moved soon before that white stuff starts falling..
My luck, it will be pouring rain the weekend we move...
Have a great day all...I have to go down the hill and collect my paycheck, and run a few errands...You ChickenHeads behave while I am away!!
The Crazy Chicken Crew and Their Titles
No--he's put out a lot of albums that still sell well--just not for everyone. Rollingstone and MTV both tried to give him awards and he refused. He is a bit tempermental and snarky. A lot of people think he is an American Southerner cause he read a lot of Faulkner in his youth and writes very dark and gothic songs--other people compare him to Tom Waites and Leonard Cohen--Johnny Cash did covers of some of his songs--"The Mercy Seat" is one about a crazed murderer preparing to be electrocuted. Sounds dreadful, but it is actually incredible.
Uh, oh--inner geek escaping. I'll be quiet now......
Thank you Catscan, for the alternate spelling of grael. I stand corrected, in part. Although grail is still allowed. At least Monty Python says so.
General Dusty, with all due respect, Ma'am, you are confusing two troop members. The Chicken Control Officer is CCO MaypopLaurel. InnBetween wanted to be Chief Between. Two different troop members, Ma'am. Salute!
Chief Petty Officer Moxon had suggested a more elaborate title for Chief Between, more befitting her status and previous military title of Chief Warrant Officer. She could be Chief Warrant Officer Between. But this has a lack of chicken-ness to it. Of course, so does my title, but it relates to my petty corrections of spellings as the official Chickenhead Spelling Police.
What does a Warrant Officer do? Do they put out warrants for arrests? Perhaps Chief Between should be Chief of Errant Chicken Behaviour or Chief of Preventing Chicken Naughtiness or something.
Moxy over.
OFF TOPIC AND HAVE TO RUN OUT THE DOOR, BUT HARMONY!
I'm so excited...I woke up this morning and remembered BUGALOOS! Yes...another fave of mine. I was getting worried because bugaboos (I THINK) is kind of a racist name? Or something like that..because I work with antiques and remember an old advertising piece that showed a 'white only' bathroom, no bugaboos allowed...something like that.
Anyway...bugaloos. My husband reminded me that the creators of all those shows I liked back then, were Sid (or Syd) and Marty Croft. Ahhh...good memories.
Anyway..gotta run. MTO Musicnotes is on leave today, singing with her band in the "Hernando Heritage Festival"!
buh-bye

So sorry, I'm late!!! (: KPO Jan 112351 reporting: Salute~!!
I think I got everything in. lol. I was exhausted trying to catch up on the thread. My brain doesn't work that fast.
Reporting - no cupcake dilemmas. The pe-cahns are staying on the cinnamon buns, and the Key Lime pie is still a wishful thought.
Hopefully Harmony did well at the fleamarket.
Yes, I remember Sid and Marty, but how many remember Spin and Marty from the Mickey Mouse Club Show waaaay back when?
How many remember Amos & Andy???? On the RADIO??
You are checkin' people's ages?
I remember, radio and tv also.
Excellent reporting KPO Jan. Glad to hear you have us all under control with our food issues. I am currently enjoying a Bud Light with Lime and some Cherry M&Ms. Talk about all the food groups - fruit, chocolate, sugar, alcohol....excellent snack I'd say!
I don't remember any of the TV and radio things.
Lieutenant Major Harmony - please give us a report on your flea market adventures.
CPO Moxy out.
Yeah but.....Do you remember Amos & Andy on the radio, or the Lone Ranger, The Shadow (Only the Shadow Knows) Fibber Mcgee & Molly, Boston Blackie, Cisco Kid, Jack Benny, Bing Crosby, Tom Mix, Burns & Allen, Arthur Godfrey, Ted Macks Original Amatur Hour... all on the radio before they hit TV...
I remember Liberace and Swing & Sway with Sammy Kaye and Red Skelton and Phil Silvers and the Nelsons, and Imogene Cocoa and Sid Ceasar, and Sing Along with Mitch (Miller) when they hit TV...Not to mention the infamous Ed Sullivan...and the Masterpiece Theatre, Innersanctum, Loretta Young Show, Gale Storm Show with Charlie Farrell, ALL of the Westerns, with Dale & Roy, and Hop Along Cassidy, Gene Autry, Tex Ritter... YIKES!!!!!! I am reallllllllllly OLD!!!
Don't remember listening to the radio. I'm sure I did.
When Monty Python was mentioned above I started cracking up. My boys loved 'The Quest for the Holy Grail' Most guys love it and the girls don't. But it always cracked me up.
I remember some of those shows on TV Gen. Dusty.
I guess I'll learn all the names eventually, but for now, I have to go to the top of the thread to put 2 and 2 together.
LOL on all the food groups CPO Moxy. In my book, as long as chlockit (as my GKs say) is involved it is balanced. You won't have any issues with this KPO.
Off topic, but I spent the morning harvesting more veggies for my chickens (that are not really mine, but I like to pretend they are). I get so excited about seeing them! Forget the kids and even the grand. Gotta have some chicken love.
I'm hoping for an official title to be confirmed (is there an official title "conferer"?), and perhaps some perks for having chicken lust (like a title). Maybe I can shop at the PX (that stands for poultry exchange, yes?) I'm worried about possible age discrimination on this forum. There will be no comment from me regarding retro-media.
Today was a good day. I got a double yolk for brkfst. The second time in two weeks. Who could ask for anything more? BTW, garlic was left out of the food groups. What's with that?
Laurel
Dusty: I remember all of those except Boston Blackie.
MayPop....As Commanding General Chickenhead, I shall promote you to Captain Maypop, CBO (Chicken Borrowing Officer)
However this is based upon your revealing your knowlege or lack thereof of the aforementioned Radio programs...There is NO discrimination of any kind amongst the ChickenHead Army...Envy yes....
Yes, we're entirely indiscriminate here!!
I believe Laurel was already confirmed CCO... not sure of the chain of command here, that's why I'm a covert op...avoidance of all standard protocols...also not sure if this was chicken coordinating or chicken control officer...
Gen'rul?! Ma'am?!
Woohoo! A promotion after twenty four hours (maybe?)! I might be digging grubs and netting bugs in appreciation. Chicken envy is cause for counsel here.
Okay, I confess to being an "Ovaltine" ad girl. Howdy Doody was big. Sky King and Rin Tin Tin too. I cried when Farmer Brown's barn burned and Lassie couldn't get Jeff to understand there was a fire (I cried at every other Lassie crisis too). Roy Rogers was whopping it up with Tonto (going round and round the same set). Trigger was always golden and perfectly palomino-like. Not stuffed. Didn't know they had Mane and Tail back then.
Send borrowing chicken photos please.
Laurel
yer we should make a list of who is on top to who is on the bottom although that would always change when people go from captain to commander for hatching times
I never cried AT a Lassie episode--I never got past the opening credits. The music swells, Lassie lifts her paw and I start sobbing and rush out of the room.
I think I had a crush on Spin--or was it Marty? I was very young:0)
But nobody's really on the bottom. Of course, General Dusty is on top because she's the General.
I still have not heard or seen any of the programs mentioned. I am pop culture ignorant.
That's okay, Moxie. We like you anyway.
I am famous in my family for insisting that my sons "Stop reading those books and go watch TV".
They both turned out to be nerds despite my best maternal efforts.
nothin wrong with nerds just means u can borrow money of your kids when they get the good jobs
i like the colours ont that rooster they are trippy
Thank you Captain Catscan, I'm glad I'm still acceptable to the troops.
I am familiar with the following pop culture things:
Boston Legal (love it!)
Desperate Housewives
Wallace and Grommit
Chicken Run
Mr. Bean
Every movie Hugh Grant ever made (I think)
And a few other movies of note.
I don't watch much TV but I like Desperate Landscapes on HGTV.
CPO Moxy
LOL very modern of you commander
He's my favorite rooster cuz he's so wild looking.
And regarding your nerd comment, this is precisely why I didn't have kids, because mine would have undoubtedly been nerdier even than me, and then they might have been mind numbingly clever, and that would have made me nuts. Fortunately I already have a good job so I don't have to borrow off anyone. Of course, in this economy, maybe I won't have it for long!
What a guy! With that "do" the only things missing are tight pants and pointy ankle boots. I'm open for the adoption and thanks. Who are the women in his life (he does look a bit on the young side).
L
Well if you're into sewing, I'm sure he'd be willing to model tight pants! ROTFL....
His favorite woman is my buff orpington gal. He is very active in his pursuit of her. He is also very attracted to Goldie, and here she is... (I don't have a pic of the buff orpington, but I can take one tomorrow...)
Goldie is an Easter Egger barnyard mix kinda gal. Wrong side of the tracks but a heart of gold.
Ummm. Viz the rankings in this joint...Visualize, if you please, a tight cluster of about 25 frantic chicks. Gen'rul Dusty is tallest. The rest of us are clambering up, down, around, over and under, as we jockey for position. This is a CHICKENy group. We model our ranking system after those we most admire.
Noticing that Kelly in Moxee and Galles and a few others have yet to acquire rankings. I nominate Kelly to be Minister of Chicken Defense (civilian advisor)
LadyBugs and Patchy (ooli-ooli) are also as yet untitled...
Where's the fun in allowing others to be discreet when we're not?!;-)
Ya'll just can't stop talking for a day can you. We have been gone all day to a poultry show and then I popped in real quick and back out to feed birds. Just got back in and I will never catch up unless I read for a solid day.
Sheila
Sorry Sheila, you see, you leave and all chaos breaks out! How was the show? Did ya buy anything...huh? Didya? Didya?
Did not buy anything! I know I am going to the Doctor on Monday, I promise. I know something has to be despartly wrong for us not to by something. Actually I was going to buy, but someone beat me to him. He was the most beautiful Partridge cochin roo to go with our girls and I walked past twice and then finally decided right as the guy was collecting money from someone else.
I am thoroughly confused about the poultry showing process. See my new thread.
Sheila
I did see your thread but had nothing useful to say cuz I've never shown. I am going to a show on the weekend after Thanksgiving in Iowa City. I am hoping to learn there. The state fair show here was mostly 4H kids so not quite the same. There is a chapter in one of my books on showing. If you want I can scan it and send it your way.
Hello all very tired from fleamarket sold all but 6 Doves the pigeons went fast at $20 pair the folks really liked those and the doves sold well.
It was a very interesting day people telling me their chicken stories and me listening and commenting some.
I didn't get to shop but did sneak over to a man who had chickens and guess what grow he had a leg bar looked just like the picture on hunky roo.
Thats the third one i've seen so they are out there.
My Biggest deal of the day was a man ask me to trade for some of my doves and when i ask what he had it was something i had been wanting Diamond Doves!
He really wanted some of my Ash colored doves and i said i would have to see the Diamonds first and with that he said i will be right back.
He drove to his house 50 miles away and brought back 2 pair of the cutest little blue doves but i didn't let on how excited i was (Can't show excitement during a deal).
He said you give me the 3 Ash and $20 and you can have both pairs......I countered with no i will give you the 3 ash and 2 peach for both pairs...........He said no give me 3 ash and 2 peach and $10.......I had him and he was thinkin I said no deal I'll take the dark blue pair and you can have the 3 ash and he began to sweat............He said are you sure you don't want both and i said "NA" don't really need the one...........he said okay the 3 ash for the dark blue.........He removed them and i put them in one of my cages and he said but i like all these doves and thats when i knew i had him good.
So final deal he got 3 ash and 2 peach which i have 0 dollars in cause i hatch them and i got 2 pair of Diamond doves that sell for $35 to $50 a pair.
So do yall think i got a good deal and i will get a pic on here soon as i can.
But i had a good time and made some money for my vaccine and of course a little extra for me and i met alot of people and several have my number wanting chickens, rabbit's, dove's and pigeon's unfortunately i had to tell them it's off season for breeding anything and i would have plenty of all come spring.
So thats my day and it was an adventure as always.
Music i meant Bug-a-Boo i know the term you were talking about and it is spelled different.
Yes i recall now it being Bug A Loo.
QFFF silkie 032677 reporting: SALUTE!
lol, i've been sick forgive my MIA today. i'm still here, boy ya all chatted alot while i was gone.
i say we nominate a leader if we do nominate i would go for dusty i think every oone else would to so mybe there is no point LOL
Thanks for thinking of me grow! I don't know what my title would be, but rank PO? Not familiar with all of it. My dh was in the Military, with the Coast Guard, but doesn't talk about it much. (other than all the places he has been) I guess I could be something like MIA often or something.....I'm so busy these days I just don't have time to pop by as often as I would like too. Going to school full time, after not being in school for 16 years with a family and working too....whew, I'm still trying to adjust. I keep telling myself that I will get used to it all, it's just taking time. (I'm being naughty now....should be studying and not visiting) You all sure sound like your having a lot of fun with it!
Harmony....dang lady....you are one cool customer...errr, seller. I don't think I would have ever been able to pull that off, not showing ANY excitement. Boy, I envy you! Way to go, awesome deal!
Christy (off again)
I hereby give Ladybugsabound the title of Coordinator of Missing Chickens, and for short she will be CMC Ladybug.
Harmony - what a day for you! I loved reading your stories of the day, and your deal on the diamond doves is fabulous. I can't wait to see the pictures. Maybe you already posted them on a new thread. I have to go look at new threads after I catch up on my reading. One of these days I'm gonna end up with doves or pigeons because of you!
CPO Moxy Over.

All's quiet on the kitchen front. Will be making banana bread later though.
Great haul, Harmony. Looking forward to pics. Isn't it hard not to show eggscitement?
Lovely roo you adopted, CCO Laurel or whatever your rank is LOL. He is a dandy!!!
Mr. Bean cracks me up. We are supposed to be getting cable (I can't believe it) so maybe I can get reruns on BBC.
Shoot, I had a crush on both Spin AND Marty.
Holy chicken you guys!
You've been chattin up a storm!
Moxon,
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. We dont' watch much TV in this HH. As a matter of fact we haven't had cable for 8 years and since we've lived in our newest house we don't even get some of the basics for free. So there is NO TV except for DVDs. I am totally pop culture challenged as well. ha!
