MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....those rolls look good.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, sheeesh, I'm truly an Oxymoron.... I just got the joke, Kel had to explain to me that "Bags" are the old ladies :D There are still a few slangs that escape this foreign born mind!! Now if they were referred to as "broads" then I'd get them right away! But there are no planks on the diamond!! Tee heee heeeeee.
ROFL now...bags are loaded!!
Staying indoors today, enjoying the rain, so I'll be sewing and cooking and reading and I know my kitties and pups will enjoy having mama in the house today!
Any coffee left, BJ? Half a cup will do.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning All,
I overslept, but it felt good. Must be from working out in the warm sun yesterday. I was getting pond ready, I'm bringing some of my fish home from my mom's.

We are going to this place called Apple Hill. I've lived close to this place all my life and have never been there. My mom was born and rasied in the town called Placerville, which is close to this Apple Hill. I will be taking pictures, for sure.
I'll be talking to you all when I get back or maybe in the morning. Gotta hit the shower
TTYL, Sistahs

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... got coffee... but Don made it at 3am this morning...
I'll make a fresh pot for you, my sistah.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oooooo Apple Hill sounds like fun... enjoy for all of us, Cindy.
AND WE WANT PICTURES !!!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!!

Been up early this A.M...Yuckola, got a cleaning bug so have been working on my b-room, LOL, no room left in draws so
trying to sort, get rid, and put away summer stuff, Wahhhh, Fall is really here.

Yummy Jaye, Cinnamonnnnrolls, yikes how deligious, got my coffee.

How was the night out, did you have your crustations.

Marion, Sounds like you had great Grandmas day.

Phylis, was thinking about you the other day. Son's bus was a half hour late. Was getting worried the bam, said his original driver never showed. Geesh, didn't hit me something might be wrong, for him to just not show...So hope he's ok. But made me think about you.
What a wonderful way for the kids to show how they will miss you. What a sweet thing to do having a Pizza party...LOL, great way break the rules having your DH deliver the pizza, thought that was just so cute. I am glad you had a nice sendoff to new job.

BJ, So happy you had such a nice at home vacation. What a neat idea, nothing like just spending time together.

ahahah, Linda Kay, thought that Baseball joke was hysterical.

Kathy with the Bird, wow, how neat, I always said , my next bird will be a parrot...Neighbor has one, and oh my gosh...it's really cool when they have the doors open because i can hear him...So do enjoy raising your Parrot...Are you going to teach him to talk? and Tricks??

OK geesh break is over BBL.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

mmm thanks for breakfast yummy

Judy was nice to know ya was thinkin of me
mmm bus break down, driver out sick, sub driver not knowing the route or the driver just having a brain fart and forgetting to stop are things that come to mind as to why they never showed

well girls am off to Arlington for the RU over there will be back later this afternoon have fun dont work to hard cleaning anything it is Saturday the Weak end ya know

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Wow, Phyllis, y'all sure do have a lot of RU's in Texas. Did you go to the one BJ went to recently? There's a mini RU at a DG'ers house in north GA but it's too far for me to walk. LOL j/k But I can't make it that far off.

Those buns do look yummy, Jaye. I seem to be sleeping late everyday now that my meds are working in the right doses. I'm letting my dogs stay outside for a while. Nice to not have dog hair flying around everywhere. My cat still lives inside and always will though. She doesn't shed that badly.

BJ, where do you buy those novels? I've never been much of a reader but I need something to occupy my mind. I am working on a cross stitch bell pull that Jaye gave me. When I'm through with it, y'all are going to have to help me put a dowel on it. I may have to mail it to Jaye to see if she'll fold it over the dowel and sew it in place. Would you mind doing that for me Jaye?

Judy, I wish I had the energy to clean out closets. Seems all my spare closets are for stuff I never wear then all my good stuff stays squeezed in the mix and gets so wrinkled. I really need to have a full house cleaning of all closets.

Yes, Cindy, I want to hear more about Apple Hill.

Linda Kay, hows your foot doing? Didn't you tell me your surgery on the other foot would be in 5 weeks? That will be around Thanksgiving? Is that right? I know you will be so glad to get that done and all over with.

I planted some potted plants I've been putting off yesterday. Pulled out some of the Burmuda grass while I was planting. I need to really clean up several beds around the house and put down wheat straw then top it with pine straw. Would help my feelings a whole lot knowing my gardens look decent going into winter sleep.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'll keep the rain here, so you will have fun there Cindy!
Judy, when you're looking for more rooms to clean, I'll dmail you mine okay ;)
Thought I'd get my behind in gear and do something. But instead sunk in the recliner, with BJ's rich coffee, cinnies in lap, and watched a tearjerker on IFC! Love mornings like this!!
No problem Deborah... but you might not get it back!! Lolol!! Hmm...we'll pray hard sistah that He sends you a sewing machine for Christmas. You know He listens and will do what's good for ya!
Again this year, we'll be mulching with compost. We'll get a load next week, and spread about 4 inches all over them. Don't y'all love the look of black gold over your beloved plants?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, where do you get your mulch?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

sending three pictures for y'all to see two of my butterflies that host on one particular plant, Passiflora (maypop).

Here are Gulf Fritillary cats

Thumbnail by Cordeledawg
Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Here's a Gulf Fritillary on Porterweed. Y'all need to grow Porterweed if it's hardy for you. Great nectar for butterflies and hummers.

Thumbnail by Cordeledawg
Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

This fellow, a Zebra longwing (Zebra Heliconia) also uses Passiflora to lay eggs on. This is the first time I've ever seen one in my yard or in real life for that matter. Just goes to show you, "If you plant it, they will come!"

Thumbnail by Cordeledawg
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Deborah, I have beaucoup passiflora vines, but no flowers this year :((
Next year, in spring, I'll check with you on what to grow. I know parsley is one :D
Last year we got bags of Timberline brand compost from Lowe's, but this year, we think it's cheaper getting a load from a yard store about 30 minutes from here. But those Timberline (40lb) sells for about $1.50 a bag.
Thought I'd stay in all day............ nooooooooooooo......... Papa Kel had to tempt me with some shopping... what a wife to do?
BBL!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone, I just got back from shopping. My first shopping trip since my first foot surgery!!!! ^_^. I got the regular household stuff, but I bought some flannel, so I can make my Granddaughter a rag purse for Christmas, I got some real pretty purple, and some pink with kitties on it. I will take some pictures when I get it going, and finished.
BJ, what did you put in the bottom for stiffener? I looked for one of thos strip cutters, but did not find one. I will look when I go to San Antonio for my next foot follow up.
My next foot surgery is in about 4 weeks, so I guess that puts it about Thanksgiving? Somewhere in there. But it will be just hubby and I. I don't think kids are coming in. If they do show up, I will put them to work with the cooking!!!
Wow, this year is going so fast! Just I'm having too much fun here on Daves!!!
Later
Linda Kay

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The big problem I have getting caught up is that you all start in about an hour after I am finally getting to bed!!!

Jaye I would love to have one whole day to just stay in and do (or not do) just what I want!!!

Judy I wish a cleaning bug would come to my house.....we seem to only have clutter bugs around here...lol.

Deborah Porterweed would be great!!!......my sweet dogs name is Porter!!

Cindy have loads of fun and don't forget the pi!!!ctures

BJ, LK, Phyllis, Marion and all........waving to ya

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Waving back at ya Trisha.

Well... I'm soooo proud of myself. I was running out of horizontal surfaces on the back porch to root all the cutting I got from the RU, PLUS take the cuttings from my own plants and get them started for spring. SO, light bulbs wen't off in my head this afternoon, and I went to Lowe's to look into what it would cost to make me an indoor greenhouse... They had this plastic easy to assemble shelf on sale for $32... and I went to Walmart and got 2 $6 clear vinyl shower curtains... and voila... I do believe it's going to work...

NOW, I'm off to get those cuttings from some of my plants...

Very clever!!!!!! Hello Sistah's : )

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey BJ, I like that idea. I just need to find something bigger, for my 6 foot brugs!!!
Hello everyone, hope your Saturday is going just fine and dandy!!!
Linda Kay

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sorry I missed the coffee and cinnamon rolls but DD made breakfast burritos with locally made sausage!! Oh my will make more and share with everyone next time. Do have some wonderful Greek pasteries in the kitchen I will share. Oh my wedding cookies, baklava swirls, regular baklava, sesame cookies and I have forgotten the names of the others. Stop in an help yourselves to some of them.

Really cool morning with what must have been a heavy rain last night. Boy was I a sound sleeper to have missed it completely. Spent the day searching for some ruby slippers we could add glitter to so they would be okay for the costume. They are hard to find let me tell you!!!!

Phyllis, the pizza party sounded like fun and was so sweet and very thoughtful of your group. I am sure it was a bittersweet day for you. Ah on the bigger and better things now.

Clever, BJ, that is using your noggin--let us know how it works as I might have to do the same with some of my things.

Oh Judy, sure could use someone who like to clean down this way. LOL That will top my agenda when I return from my Mom's. DD will be gone for 5 days so I am going to do a massive overhaul on some things. Don't have to worry about getting dinner ready with just me here. Guess I had better be careful saying what I plan to do--she might cancel her trip. Can't have that!!!

Trisha, it must seem odd to just be going to bed and we are up and at 'em already. Although not as early a riser as some. I have gotten really lazy in my old age! Earned it for sure.

Kim the exotic, what are you up to these days? Busy I am sure. Fill us in lady on what's happening.

Apple Hill, wow Cindy sounds like a really neat trip, Pictures are eagerly awaited of your outing.

What stripping thing are you referring to Linda Kay. The cutting thing Jaye was talking about?

Deborah, if you are worried about Jaye not returning the bell pull, then let me know--have machine will travel girlfriend!! How is that. Sorry Jaye, protecting Deborah's hours of work for her. LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, it was ruler with slots, to cut strips or squares of fabric.
My Wal mart does not have them. I am going to look for one when I go to San Antonio next week.
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I like that idea BJ, It might work for us too!!

Hello/goodbye all I have been running all day, just popped back by the house to change for Church, now have to leave again.........oh for one whole day to just stay home and play!!!

Psssstttt BJ, I picked up a clay book today that I don't have yet and few of the things Donna Dewberry is putting out, I have an idea for a project for my swap buddy...we will see what happens!!!!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Marion, if you'd come to see me bringing you machine with you, Jaye would understand completely!

Ok all you woodworkers here's a cutie turkey that appears to be easy to make. There are little dowel wooden rods in the back to stick into a pumkin or and kind of veg or fruit you want to make look like a turkey. I just stuck them between a fruit basket since I didn't have a pumpkin to spare.

IN all honesty no we really don't have that many Ru s in Texas it just happened that since we had the First East Texas Ru the End of June this last year they wanted to do a fall one someone had wanted to do it the 18th because of the rose festival in Tyler but I said no that was not a good idea as it is a mad house with the rose festival and for anyone traveling in would be awful for traffic so we went with the 11th plus that way it left the 18th for the North Texas one.
Doing 2 a year is alot as time seems to go rather fast and you have to time it so you can get thing s in the ground and going before the frosts start.
so personally I think one a year in the spring would be better.
As for the one BJ went to yes I was there I was the main planner of it getting the threads started and the reservations for the park....was smaller then the spring one but that is okay as I got to see BJ and Linda in person!!!!!!!!!!!

Marion it was the Jr. High kids that did the pizza party on the bus for me leaving but until the new driver is trained I am still driving my route.

mmm shower curtains didn't think of that I used plastic shelves I got last year at HD or Lowes I think it was for my starts and used clear trash bags to give them the green house effect ...will have to remember shower curtains this year though will work better and not tear like bags do LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Waving to all of you too... Deborah, Phyllis, Stacey, Linda Kay... I know I'm forgetting a bunch of you... but it's too late tonight to tax my brain like that... forgive me.

Yeah !!!! Stacey made it home !!! we want all the scoop... hope you took notes, and pictures... cause we want to know details.

Yep... it took two shower curtains, Phyllis... and they're that thick vinyl that should hold up for a very long time. Then, I just layed a clear plastic trash bag on the top to enclose it completely.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well happy birthday night Tinky. Sounds like you had a really good time and it is nice you got to met Betty.

Deborah, how far are you from Moultrie? Yeap, I do have machine and will travel. Just finish the bellpull and give me a hollar.

Okay now, Judy assists us cleaning by looking at pictures? Live and learn, maybe I should give it a try also!! LOL

Sending a big hug and hello to everyone, off to bed. Didn't realize I got sunburned at the Greek festival today and it is making me a little uncomfortable. So I am calling it a day. Should have some color to my face tomorrow other than red--I hope.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

nite marion and nite girls I am beat and Dh says we are doing cement work tomorrow to smooth out the bird bath and maybe make stepping stones ....OR...LK ya readin this??? another bird bath for someone that has asked for one to be made for them since I do have another BIG leaf LOL

sleep well everyone see ya tomorrow

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

If I'm really quiet, can I come play? I'll stay in the corner, promise.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Marion, I'm 61 miles from Moutrie. Depending on how I drive, it's about 1 hour and 21
minutes for me.

Phyllis, I just recently bought a butterfly stepping stone. Will you give me some pointers when I start to buy the cement mix to get started? I'll d-mail you when I before I start. Your EE bird bath would also make a great butterfly puddle and sunning site just laying on the ground a butterfly garden! Cindy is going to make a bird bath too using EE's.. I can't wait to see yall's finished work.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Lorraine! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You need to hollar more often, girl friend. Please come play with us every day!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

And LOUD! Don't get in the corner, no no. We want you to talking!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Deb here's the link to the Hypertufa and Concrete Discussion Forum
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/hypertufa/all/
'
just popped in there tonight to look instead of going to bed like i said I was ..LOL

was a bad thing to do too as I found this link for molds
http://stores.ebay.com/MOLDS-for-Plaster-Concrete-Cement

I really need to find a way to get rich quick to start doing all this stuff I am finding then find a way to make a business out of it then I could work for myself and play all day LOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I just came in to see what's happening tonight. And I think you girls need a little direction...

Judy, you take pictures so Marion gets a visual course in house cleaning.

Phyllis, you get rich quick ... and teach us all to do the same thing. Keep churning out those beautiful birdbaths.

Deborah... you get Lorraine to come out of hiding.

Lorraine... you TALK to us.

Marion... you pack up that sewing machine and go visit your sistah Deborah.

Jaye... you have to tell us what you shopped for today. AND what goodies you brought home with you.

Stacey... you get that camera flashing so we can see the goodies you got on your trip.

Trisha... lets talk clay... what book did you get?

Me... I'm going to bed now.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Well, Phyllis, some people teach ceramics, so why can't you start a business as a side line and teach Hypertufa (whatever the heck that is) and Concrete art and yard art crafts. Then, when you get really established, you could just do this for a full time business. If I lived closer to you I'd be your first student. Why don't you think about setting up a space and advertise by word of mouth for Tuesday and Thursday evening classes for friends for a period of time it would take to make one project and charge a fee plus supplies to see how it goes?

I'll study those links before I get ready. I'm kind of nervous about doing it.
