It's about to............#28

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Repeated for Hummingbird: Humminbird, I use plain water initially to wet the moss. Then, everytime I re-wet the moss when needed, I use 1/4 tsp. Super thrive mixed with a gallon of water. I spray the recipe every day on the woody part of the cutting and continue on when it gets leaves.

Karen's recipe: 6 TBS. per gallon (some people use 1 TBS. some use 1 cup per gallon, you really can't use too much as the ingredients won't hurt anything and they are so thinned out with the water)

2 cups water
1 12 oz. beer
1/2 cup ammonia
1 cup Epsom salts
3 TBS. Tea Tree Oil
1/4 cup unsulphered blackstrap molasses (available by the gallon for organic gardening for $10.00 at most farm stores or may use grocery store bought)
1/2 cup liquid kelp algae (available at any organic gardening center)
2 TBS. Miracle Grow or Bloom Booster (depending on whether you want growth or blooms)
15 drops SuperThrive
1/4 cup fish emulsion (not needed but I added it anyway)

Melt Epsom salts in the 2 cups water, warm. Add rest of the ingredients, stir well and store until needed. No refrigeration needed. Shake well before using.

I mix a batch in a seal-able container, then mix my 6 TBS. of mix to an empty gallon milk jug, fill with water, and shake. I then take the milk jug contents and pour it into a spray bottle to spray the cuttings with. Always shake mix well before using.

Hummingbird fill about 3 inches in the bottom, stick the cutting in and continue filling about 1/2 way up the cup.

Clemmie what are you up to tonight you silly hottie? You need to find another scary plant to frighten us with for Halloween!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Oh, Hummingbird! What fun for you.. those cuttings are going to love you.. might d-mail Cat.. I've met her and she's A-1. She'll get you fixed right up. LOVIN' that pic of Peggy and Becky.. don't WE wish we were there, too?? There's been phone calls and d-mails flyin' bout a Hottie RU.. Still in my front mind, Hotties.. we'll come up with something. Karen how sweet to post that again, I had to search and search for it today.. but I found it up there...I'm only missing fish emulsion.. think I might forgo it and add a bit more fertilizer.. ?...

(Cathy), MO

Hi Clem, yes I got them, thanks so much! Just hoping they will root for me. I wasn't sure how to do them so just stuck thjem in some damp potting soil.

Hummingbird dmail me your address.

Glad everyone had such fun at their roundups. I didn't get to go to ours a few weeks back. BUT when we have the Hotties gathering next year, I definately plan to be there!

(Cathy), MO

LOL, 2 great minds Bonnie! I really do think we should have a Hotties RU

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I just lightly filled the cup, stuck the cutting in part way and smooshed it down and around it, till it felt like it was comfy and secure.. they probably look a little less than 3/4 full. I'm using the coco chips I had on hand, now.. mixed a little more than half with MG.. The orchid moss was a little less messy.. but they seem to like either.. cute lil things and fun, too. Like a newborn, I'm checking on them quite frequently.. tomorrow they all get a Recipe shower.. just do it Hummingbird, you can't go wrong.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Bonnie none of the original recipes on "The Recipe" thread called for fish emulsion...but they all called for kelp.. I just added it because I happened to have some and didn't think it could hurt. A hottie RU....Boy I can see it now! What fun we will have!

Hummingbird since the recipe is for foliar feeding only, I went ahead and sprayed my sticks every day even without leaves...I do believe it helped the sticks sprout leaves quicker.

Clemen I'm here for Hottie time, tonight.. it's Saturday and I saved a little for chattin tonight ;) Your lil DD, poor thing had to take her test all ugly??? HAHA, I know she was just as beautiful as when she's all "fluffed up". So fun having girls.. boys too, but most of them aren't into makin up.. and frilly stuff.

Cat, I just know we'll have the greatest time and I told Becky, when I see them having such a grand time, makes me want the Hottie RU even more. I'm thinking early spring, before we're hauling stuff out.. that way we can concentrate on "socializing" and hottie antics, not so much plants, but maybe we could take in a botanical garden or something.. I'm workin on it and open to ideas, as we want as many that want to come, to be able to try to make it. I'd open my house and yard, but I'm so far out in the boonies..away from civilization..

(Cathy), MO

If we decide on a central location, we can find a park or something if need be. And we would probably need to make sure there are motels close by for any hottie who comes from aways off and wants to stay over.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Now THAT's a great looking couple-a Hotties! If I've ever seen them, and I have seen some hotties! (whistling the cat call) Cuties!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Me thinks exactly, Cat. KC or St Louis?... some hotties that don't mind flying could prolly get cheap fares into those places, if far enough in advance.. I know Southwest has some good.. Can't you just see us Hotties, making a Hottie pick-up, at the airport... gosh, we'd create clammer and a spectacle, I'm SURE!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

hey fellow TM... did we ever get to 500? I cant count today...these pain killers are makin my eyes cross! teehee!

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

No pictures of the day but I will get pictures of everything I recieved from the others. I forgot to take my camara darn it or I would love to have taken some pictures of everyone that was there.

James

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Cool James, bet you guys had tons of tropicals, huh?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

BECKY!!! Wanted to tell you......... (keep an eyeball on that AnjL, girl.. she's headed down the wet noodle path ;)

(Cathy), MO

I would be more than willing to help get everything organized if it's close to me. I'll give what help I can if it's not close too! :-)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Oh Thanks Cat.. I'm sure Joyce would help us.. we can all put our heads together and come up with some ideas.. Southern hotties? Eastern Hotties? Northern Hotties? Western Hotties? I can start checking hotel prices, maybe something a little off the beaten path, less expensive, yet close enough for restaurants and an outing or two?

(Marymac) Statesvi, NC(Zone 7a)

Ok ....got my cuttings all cupped up in the mosss...mixed a batch of the recipe(sure has a strong smell))) do you think I should spray the recipe on them tonight or maybe wait till tomorrow?/Ps..Thanks to all for the help..

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL, yes, it's pretty nasty stuff, but diluted in water isn't so bad. The minty freshness of the Tea Tree Oil is actually refreshing once you get used to it. I'd wait until tomorrow to begin your spraying regimen. Whenever you need to water the moss? Just pour a little bit in around the stick, and then turn the cup upside down and drain out whatever water is extra to prevent root rot from occuring. The moss shouldn't be sopping wet, ever. Good luck! You'll be rooting up like an old pro in no time!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....going to bed early tonight hotties, I did alot of hard work in the yard today. Boy I remember when I was younger and just getting started on a Saturday night! How time flies.....

Love you all, see you in the morning! {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Abrazos karen, and sending my love

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

WAIT!! a wet noodle??!! I dont want a wet noodle! maybe a wet tulip tho? or a wet bruggie? teehee!

hey all, I am going to do one final co-op for this year ...the atlas gloves but this time we are doing the thermal ones for all those yucky winter chores! LOL!

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/914537/

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Nice idea anil, i have way too many gloves now though!!!

Cat, i hope they root in potting soil. Have never tried that only in water and they do well after a while, just need to be patient.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I am going to bed now, REALLY this time, but I just had a thought. Why don't we make an official list of hotties that plan on trying to be there, with their location added, and try to work it out on the map where it is an equal distance for everyone, with driving ability. I know myself, I want to be there so badly, but we live paycheck to paycheck and there is no way I could ever afford to fly, motel costs, etc.

(Cathy), MO

Hmm...maybe I'll take them out and put them in water Clem. I want them to have every chance!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

We should take that into consideration dear Clemen.. and Copo, too, of course. Maybe Chicago? Southwest flies into Midway, I've gotten there from KC for $29 one way.. course not since gas went up... BRB There are just SO many things we have to be patient for... gets me cranky sometimes..;)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Cat.. funny.... maybe I'd try them both ways, if I had enough.. I've rooted them in water before.. I say go for water..

(Cathy), MO

No planes for me. I will be driving, whereever we decide it's going to be. Even if it's cheaper to fly. I'm a wuss, want my feet planted firmly on the ground! :-)

(Cathy), MO

I like the idea of a list Karen. Put me on it. Unless something major comes up, if it's next year, I plan to try to be there

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Great pix Beck hottie and Peg hottie.
Mary, glad you got those little ones potted up
Anjl, no it’s not at 500 yet, you get some rest, and us TM will wait for you.
Jame, post those pix when you get them, love to see everyone.
Bonnie, SW fly’s out of Prov so anywhere they land is good for me; they usually have the best prices. I will not commit until the last possible minute, if I’m doing good when ever and where ever you hotties plan it I’ll be there.
Clemen it is going to be ouchie either way, gas or plane. If it is drivable we could go together and split the cost. Your dat still looks great, so pretty right by the water.
Good night Karen, I’ll be following you soon.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

BONIeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Chicago is 8 hours away, tm girl! Why did we have to meet, this is awfull, I really wish i was close to all of you, honest, so sad! Will never make it, wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Cat, if they are still fresh, by all means put them in water up to their throats, otherwise, you will get more soon, when i get to cut them down more. Bonnie, how bout you?? You did not get them right????//////

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

I took to long to type again.
Last time I took SW to midway a couple of years ago, RT was a little over $100. I like the idea of a list, we need to find a central location.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

OK car pool with Donna, I'll take that, lol

(Cathy), MO

Seriously, several of us could car pool. Sure would save on gas

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Woo woo, Car pooling with Clemen maybe some of the PA hotties too. I agree Cat we need to try and keep the cost reasonable for everybody.
