I agree. It's so nice when you have a supportive community like that.
Todays Weather in Your Garden - 31
One winter my uncle (the best uncle, everybody loved him) was driving by and saw a little old lady with her car stuck in her driveway. He stopped and helped her get dug out, then "adopted" her and would keep her driveway plowed and see if she needed anything. When she died, she left her house to him. It is a beautiful old farmhouse. He deserved it, he really is one of the greatest people I know. Sounds like that is the kind of neighborhood you have there Candyce!
Candyce: that is so great that your area has such a large group of decent, caring folk. I had thought, from my own experiences in my own area, that decency like that was extinct!
Now I have respect for DGer's, the four-legged and the Monadnockkers!!

Drove home from the farm last night after celebrating Anni's 2nd birthday---bits of leaves are still plastered to my car--it was a wild ride--swirling rain, leaves, small branches---kept thinking a tree was going to stop us somewhere along the way, but we made it home safely. Lots of areas lost power--so glad they didn't in the middle of the party!
Oooo. Glad you and that Special Package made it safely home!
The rain cut quite a gully into our front lawn last night, and washed away all of the strasw that had been put down to keep the grass seed in place. And the wind!! Wow! Was it ever blowing!!!
But, as it usually is after large storms here in NE, today the sky is crystal-clear blue and gorgeous! The temperature is very comfortable as well. I love days like today!

What a storm on Sat! Our gutters couldn't take it. It looked like I was standing under Niagra Falls when looking out into my back yard from the sliding glass doors.

It's snowing, again. We had an inch overnight last Wednesday that melted off quickly. This week looks like we might actually have a bit hang around for a little while, someone said 5-7 inches on Wednesday. Ah, the snow belts!
Oh my I'm not ready for that yet!
High of 59 today and sunny..... calling for rain the next 2 days.
Our area will get mostly rain. Sherrie may get a dusting of snow where she is.
Raining right now, coming from the north.
raining now and 44... now all i have to do is pray that our halloween stuff doesn't get busted up with this wind tomorrow
:(
Morning everyone! Rain here.

Very windy and raining. Only getting light now. May mix with snow. Good day to crawl back to bed! 39 degrees.
If there was any significance to the "s" word around here, it must have been well south of the Cataract City. Nothing here. Mentioned again for tonight and tomorrow.

Upper NYS will not get the worst of it but this is the season of gray, we all dread it.
Miserable morning. I agree with Victor and I'm planning my nap time right now.
Dahlias look sad! They're not nearly as nice when they're knocked to the earth.

sleety snow all night off and on, grey grey grey.
Hey, Willie, we're the 'south of here', but no accumulation yet this week.
The winds here were strong yesterday and the day before, but today seems "calm" for the most part.
Happy "baby's" birthday, Pixie!!
Oh yeah! I like the snow, but don't mind waiting until late in the season for it.
Kathleen, you are about as south of me as one can get! I bet you get all that great Erie, PA lake effect! There is a snow belt that is about 10 miles south of here, Chestnut Ridge, which usually draws the snow away from my location. Seems the flatness of the Buff/Metro area isn't as attractive as all the hills and valleys just to the south.
One thing I have noticed, if the snow belt forms over my town, it's a strong, stationary one that seems to hop over Buffalo and land right on us.
We are at about 1800 feet, give or take 5 feet, definitely a 'higher elevation'. We have our very own snow band that sets up and keeps Peek'n'Peak ski center in snow and then gives us a good dose. Stan used to drive school bus for Clymer. He'd drive into town with an eight inch coating of snow on the truck and the guys would all give him a hard time except for the guy that drove bus out here, he knew how much we get. Generally speaking, if you drive about 2 miles in any direction there is much less, not necessarily the kind of bragging rights anyone wants! We average 200 inches.
Wow - 200 inches! Rain stopped for a while here. Have 1 1/4 inches so far. Still lots of wind. Feels very raw.
ottawa canada today it is cold and rain tonight 6 inches expected with blowing around with good winds the kids are happy but me I still have work to do so not so happy but this weekend is going to be good so the rest will have to get done all summer bulbs are in and now its down to getting rid of the rest of the leafs and cleaning the garage to park inside it is the worse when morning come and wasting half an hour cleaning off ice and snow is not the best way to start the day a warm car and a coffee is so much better.
Ugh! Good luck!
Isnt it a good feeling when the bulbs are in.200 assorted
lilies
tulips
daffs
narcissus
allium
scilla
tirellia (sp) you know that blue floer in may
for me that was last years job since we moved in september of 2007 so it was the planting for three months every weekend we planted bulbs my husband kept on complaining about all the work well he finally got his gratification when spring came and every bed started blooming and then of course it just kept on going all summer with lilies the days and orientals now he says we should plant more hahahahah
he is finally starting to get into the gardening so we are now after 16 years we are on the same page lol
Lucky you to have a digger.

Double yuck is right! Skipping my art class today--takes a 1/2 hour to get there, & with high wind warnings & rain, not worth it---the s--- word is forecast for tonight! I'm afraid of what this winter will be like!
Rain! No wind to speak of.
