Iris I find myself counting all the time. reciting the abc's when I can think of a name and I won;t stop till I do....

Everytime the DH would walk by them he'd move them around....

Yeah the 1st 22 years I stayed home raising kids then when they we're grow I went with him...
My DD and her DH lived here and took care of the house while they were building..then they moved into their own place in Feb...So the timing was right...

It normally doesnt get that cold here, usually down in the teens only a few weeks each winter. I was just really shocked to see a layer of frost on everything this morning :( so that got me worried! I think its a fluke cold front that we are getting and hopefully it will warm back up again. I'm most worried about the $500 worth of irises I just planted UGH!

Im 49, widow of 4 yrs and single mom, son Tyler 22
I have a jack russell/wire hair terrier, Rosco, 3yrs
2 cats skeeter, 9 and Pandora 2 and a 55 gal aquarium
I own and run a Wildcrafted/Organic Herb/Herbal business both off and online
I grow most of what I use in my peoducts but also have wildcrafters I get me herbs from, small mom and pop farms.
I am a Master Herbalist of 25+ years, am still learning and adding to my knowledge everyday
I have been growing things since I was big enough to dig a hole and drop in a seed, it is my therapy, and stress release.
Im also opening a garden shop online and will have all kinds of plants and seed there. And a vintage shop, as I love all things old.
I am a walking medical file, 4 heart attacks, Insuiln Diabetic, Spinal Cancer, neuropathy, fibro myalgia, Bi polar, manic depression,and the list goes on. I used to take over 36 medications, now I am mostly on Herbs and Herbals, Raw herbs with no metals, preservatives or other crap in the over the counter stuff. The only thing I cannot take herbs for is the coronary artery disease, so I take 4 meds for that.
I love Gardening more than anything......well since I dont have my farm and critters anymore, which I miss desperately.
I live in an apartment so everything is in pots, I do have a small plot of land from a friend Im using for growing herbs for my biz.
I take 1 day at a time, and try to have a positive attitude, which is not always the case
I cant wait to meet everyone, most the friends I have are online, and I prefer it that way, with the exception of 2 friends, that I go to coffee with now and then. Just got tired of all the games and lies, so am solitary for the most part now :)

Welcome LavDragon, glad to have you here. It is a wonderful thread to be a part of, such generous, caring people here. So nice to have a herbalist here, I do believe you can get great results from the natural meds in plants but I don’t know much about them. Love the pix of your furbaby Roscoe.
Phyllis, Could have been hunters. Deer hunting is legal here in the fall, I no it is done is stages and guns are the last to get used I believe in November. I hate when I hear the shots go off in the woods. I know that they have to keep the deer population down but I just can not kill anything. Well then again yucky bugs I don’t have a problem squishing. Arianna is getting so big; I’ll bet she loves riding the ATV. I do understand the OCD, my mom has it really bad and I don’t so growing up I always just let her put my stuff away and tried really hard not to get upset because she would move everything. Once in a while my Dad would tell me to do the dishes (before dishwashers) and she would take them all out of the cupboard after I finished and re-wash them. The great thing was nothing ever got lost in that house, she knew where everything was. Both of my girls seem to have a touch of it and my SIL has it also. Somehow it skipped me I can let things stay out of place but usually everything is where it’s suppose to be, more because that’s how Mom did it, than having OCD myself.

Anjl, don’t stress over the Irises. That is a lot of $$$’s but they will be fine. They survive winters here in below 0 temps and we plant them in the fall. An above ground frost will not hurt them they are under the dirt even if it is only an in or so. The grandbaby of your is beautiful, Love the David too. Hugs for Sheldon, he is a trooper.

Peg, I know I was out of it for a while and had a hard time reading but I keep seeing the same comment from you “I heard a little story” what is that all about, I guessing it is about the plant list.
I’m praying for you Faye, COPD is not a nice thing, most smokers of 30+ years have it. A lot of them do not even know it, and some that do continue and they have there reasons. We never know when our number will come up so live everyday to the fullest and enjoy those grand babies.

I have a christmas cactus from my Dad's collection which looks like it is going to bloom too. That one means alot to me since he passed.

We had weather wise a perfect weekend. Wish I would of cleaned out the watergarden cause I think next weekend will be chilly and my teeth will be chattering....LOL...I can't seem to get around water and dirt without getting wet and dirty. A clean gardener I am not...

Problem with planting iris late I think at least around here zone 5) is freezing and thawing. I am going to keep a close eye out on mine that they don't get heaved out of the ground. How cold does it get

good morning hotties . welcome lav.dragon im new here too . ive never seen a brug bloom . i have 2 cuttings growing their heads off now .. i had a dream about smelling pegs yellow one that just opened . it was short . all i remember is it was dark and foggy and someone was behind me i assume it was peg . it was the owner of the bloom . and i lifted the bloom ,i guess it was on a short tree lol .. and i put my nose in it and said wow it does smell like baby powder . lol i woke up laughing about that . im nuts .
