Yellow and orange, gold and red, browns and tans and greens.. these are fall colours , tho wrapped in rain, still vibrant for all to see..
A Brugs Life My Back Yard Monster Peach Versi
I turn around and run into my Duke, he just can't leave me alone, he walks beside me everystep of the way, snooping and sniffing with me. He looks up and asks "are we done yet? I am cold ", he shivers and groans to me.. "Oh ,come on old Dukerdo, a little bit longer, please ,for me? " He grunts and sniffs off as I wander around , being drawn closer to the spot..
that I had started out with today so anxious to inspect, she still stands there in all her glory, defiant of the wind, embracing the cold and the chilling rain, commanding all my respect...I pet her leaves and croon to her softly, all over again, you see. She has my attention, first out and last in, she will always be my main lady, my little monster brug out back, my pretty sweet peach versi..
Awesome pics Debra!!!
Still no bloom?
It doesn't look like you got the rain we got here.
We'll be back in the low 70's at the end of the week, maybe a little warm air and sunshine will bring her out in the open!!!

Yeppers
Debra came over last weekend,we had a great visit, she was very helpful in showing me how to identify seeds in flower heads,I guess what I really need is magnifying glasses!!!!
Everyday, you were the first thing on my mind...Before I went to work in the dark, I'd trudge thru the wet grass to see you, you were there to greet me..a little hint you gave me of what was yet to come..all day at work I would be worried that you would be plucked or torn before I could see you.. yet here you are still standing tall.. you had to be cold, you had to be shivering, I know I was, beside myself with worry.. will she freeze? I would ask myself over and over.. would she be better off inside? No, you nodded to me, leave me outside.. so I went to see you yesterday and the day before..
This morning I went to see you, no one before. The Glorys still blooming, the sage standing tall, the zinnias and cones have faded.. you are the queen, standing so tall, in the middle of this beautiful Fall. I was plucking a seed , looking down instead of up, I felt a gentle cool touch on my cheek, surprised I looked up and there you were, looking at me so sweet.. your petticoat is showing! Your skirt is coming down! What joy what Joy ! You are coming down! I decide you are hungry, I mix you a meal, and then I go off to work... I came running home early just to see you, neverminding anything else.. it was worth it, you see.. you nodded again! I swear you are talking to me! Did you say thankyou for the wonderful meal? Was it a whispered I love you to me? Thankyou Peach Versi, it was a treat.. to be touched by something as wonderful as you!

So , I leave you alone to enjoy the day.. while the rest of my rounds I go.. seeds here, seeds there, my pockets are full,
Duke following me , in the way. I leave you alone, while I do the deed, a mother loves to do, take Joanna to Coxs' , hurry MOM.. to get a pumpkin or two. I come home , we unload , she sets about her play, I make up a lamb stew with fresh breadsticks, and sneak out to check on you.. you had shown some more, about to bloom, slowly taking your time..
I sigh and pet you, leave you be, and go enjoy suppertime. The meal, the dishes, the pumkins, the mess. This has all been done. Seed sorting, plant moving, you know the rest.. and now night time has come. I use Duke as an excuse to go out, into the blackness of night.. I tiptoe back to your precious throne corner, and I can see you in the dim light!
My camera ready, as it always is.. I ask you to pose for me, You smile and nod, sway this way and that, and show your skirt to me. "Will you be done by morning?" I ask ... and wait for your reply.... I touch your leaf gently and pat your smooth stem, and leave you to your task. I sit here doing nothing, but thinking of you, caught up as I am, I love you my sweet Peach Versi, thankyou for all you do. I will see you in the morning, I am sure I will not sleep.. but I will try and then I dream of the beautiful, gentle you...
Maybe Tuesday night, supposed to be warm in the mid 70's and will move her along a little faster!!!
Great story Debra, She is about to, hope your weather does warm some. She will not be long now. Ahh, but the last 24 to 48 hours before the bloom seems like weeks!
Deb cannot wait..soon..soon!! Just a couple days!
Good Morning , my lovely brug, how are you today? I pet your leaves and admire you, in the wind you gently sway..
The birds are happy to see me, Poppa Cardinal acknowledges my steps, bird feed into the feeders, I hang the feeder in the pear tree to a farther branch, so the Squirrel baby will quit trying to get to it, and fall. I worry so, about my backyard family, all in harmony, everywhere I look I still see colours, like a gift God has given to me.. Fall is here, the leaves are finally falling, I peruse my tasks for the day.. mentally tucking them away in my mind, and go in the house to start the day..

Sunday, I went out and there you were, waving in the wind, being touched here and there by a falling leaf, The music of the wind all around, you nod at me pleasantly, and still you hold your ground. The duke dog was hunting, he was on the scent, of a Squirrel that he could not find, crying out his Beagle yelps, and running all around. Papa Squirrel, up on the tree, hanging on the feeder and watching you and me.. I listen and close my eyes, and embed the moment , to a sweet memory.
I call to Duke to come to me, so he can see your beauty, Duke doesn't care he is on a mission, and ignores both you and me..I put the camera on video, so I can save this moment, Duke yelping, Papa Squirrel eating, you waving with the wind and the leaves, the beauty is so powerful, I want help with this memory...
I walk away and look around, admire the morning glory vines, the blue asters smiling up at me, as I pass them by, I see the Ivy on the north side of the house, and once again I am amazed, the Ivy had bloomed earlier, and now it was going to seed, i run into the house, get my reaching pole, bring down a hanging branch or two and pluck them for friends to sow...
I clench my treasured ivy seed branches , my camera, and some collected 4 o'clock seeds, make my way to the patio table, lay down the bounty i had just found, and turn to inspect the tomatoe garden, still making memories, I put a marigold to my nose..as I bend down I see the red, of a hiding tomatoe bunch, I claim them as mine, and pocketed them, knowing they would be part of lunch..the marigolds have grown tall and thick, the blooms are as big as a plum,
I find a roma tomatoe hiding behind one!
Yellow pear tomatoes, red plum romas, little minis and the big boy, blend in to the marigold hedge I have built, and I tend to forget one..I find a few on the ground, under neath the mother plant, I decide to let them stay and seed, and think into next spring already..I gaze at all the reds, the oranges and the yellows, see spots of fuschia and pink, those are my daisey/asters and four'o'clocks, they are near their end I think.. For I have plucked and picked, every seed looking up at me, and now their little tops look nearly empty to me. I sigh and stand up, look back at you, and sigh again.. for now it is time for me to go inside, cook brunch for the visiting children that on their way, and they won't care about the outside like me, so I am in the house for the rest of the day.. Goodbye Peach Versi, I will check on you tonight..just please don't bloom to early, I want you to be just right..
Inside the house , I cook up some bacon and ham, little sizzlers and hashbrowns, all together in the old electric fry pan. a special omelet for Rose, scrambled for Joanna, Charlie calls to let me know, he is on the way to the KC Chiefs game, and won't be over today I suppose.. I sit down at my desk by the window, and listen to the sizzling sound inside,
mixed with the wind blowing around the yard, the sounds coming inside, I look out my window, just so that I can see, my wonder filled back yard, and my Monster Peach Versi... wait I thought I saw a change in her bloom to be! I must go out and see, but then the girls come clamoring in, and in their arms each their own kitty..
pretty Little Oona in Rose mamas arms. sniffs from the protective arm cradle, she meows her little noise and I kiss my GranFurbaby, Joanna is a little out of breath, Her arms full of big Lincoln boy, her sister Rose had brought him to her to visit, and he was going crazy.. Aww come to Granma I coo to him, settle down bigLincoln Boy... Joanna holds him tightly and moves him to me, for a Granmas' kiss to another GranFurbaby... they go to the rooms that used to be theirs, one blue and one pink you see, and get their little Furbabies settled in, so they can eat their feast.
After brunch and the dishes, we all settle in, the girls and furbabys to the tv, and me to my desk , as you can see..
the story continues and will go on, as I wait patiently, now Sunday has gone and Off to work tommorrow, I hope I come home to see, a beautiful bloom all new and pretty, on my Beautiful Peach Versi..
Sitting here on the edge of my seat....waiting to see that beautiful bloom....esp. since I have a "baby" one in a pot...next spring for mine....
I rushed home from work, changed out of my good clothes, put my sweats on, and called my Duke. I grabbed a handful of old bread sticks, and out the door we flew..I didn't go running to the corner today, like I normally do.. we went to the feeder on the tree, and we ate breadstick bites, Duke and me.. I meandered all around the back, camera armed and loaded, always looking for the perfect shot, of something I never noticed... ofcourse I couldn't resist the peek, from way across the yard, so I decided I'd get a peek, and see you from afar..I took a pic and looked, you were standing so tall!
and then Duke and I we wandered, looking at the wonders of this Fall..
As we walked out to the back fence, by the little pear tree, Pappa Squirrel did a flying leap, right in front of me! I laffed as Duke started yelping and sniffing, and went back to the feeder, put in some more of the bread sticks, looked up but couldn't see him..I did find some flowers to shoot, and some bright ornamental pepper berries, Duke found a corn cob, and decided to chew on it for awhile..
