Peg, I have the Blue ROS that is in italic for Linda Kay and Faye. I thought Karen also wanted it but it is not by her name now. I have 2 very small plants and will get some cuttings started. I won’t be able to ship these until spring.
Pix is of the one that bloomed.
She's About To #25
feel better deb. good mornin everyone man im cold .. its all in my mind cause i feel winter creeping up behind me .this is my first winter to get through after grdening all summer . i dread it . have a great day people !!
Mornin!!
It's a gorgeous day outside!!.. NOT that I have been out though..lol... a lil too cold!! Here I am complaining about the "cold".. I ought to be ashamed!!
I have finished my 1 cup of coffee.. and am ready to go out, but I guess i'll have to put on some more "clothes" before I head on out! I feel better this morning.. nothing like a good nights sleep!
Donna... you said it well!! This thread IS the place to come, take your shoes off and sit a spell!! I am glad you are feeling better, and yep.. you HAVE to get up and do a lil... take your time (which I bet you wont..lol).. Believe me.. even though you will have disability.. you know life goes on and you will find plenty to keep you busy!! Maybe now you can do something you have always wanted to do, but couldn't because of you having to go to the job??
Bonnie.. Bonnie.. Bonnie.. what are we going to do with you?? Out with a flash light to enable a dger to want more and more??..LOL I think we should dub you Santa Claus!! You LUV to give!! I am proud to call you friend!!
wolfie!! that loch.. thing has really grown!! WOW
Audrey.. LOLOL..yep.. at least the brugs help us "older" folks get more exercise..lol
Karen.. I forgot to say that I would be interested in the Christmas Ornament swap too.. TWO DAYS!!!
Peg.. you are a card..lol can't wait till we get to meet!! No telling what we will get into!! My cousin is game for anything too!!..lol
Ok... I'm going out and see if my plants are still living..lol.. I am kinda like Pegs "other" plants... I am ready to put them to sleep for the winter..lol.. it's just "some" of them want to PARTY ON..lol
Mornin Iris!!
Sorry.. Deb.. I am hoping you feel better soon!! ^_^
Now I am outahere!! hehe
Good morning all! Iris I know just how you feel, you think it won't come back and next thing you know there are little babies all poking their heads out and greeting the spring! We'll help you through the winter!
Donna don't you worry one second about a blue hibiscus for me. Don't even think about it in your condition. I mistakenly asked for Brug cuttings from Mike not knowing it was for hotties who didn't already have a wish on the list so I am getting something already. Next spring I will find what I'm looking for, which truth is, I don't even know right now. Now that I realize it is an Althea, I'm not certain that is what I want. I already have 2 huge old Altheas in the yard, 50 years old, and one of them is the double purple, very similar in color to yours. Please don't give this a second thought hon.
Peg, I hear you on the too early for Christmas hon, hahaha! The only reason I mentioned it so early was because if everyone wanted to do something like the ornaments it would take awhile to make/buy them and mail them all to me for re-mailing.
I am so sorry girls............when I posted last night I was tired. If there were 12 people in the ornament swap each person would have to make or buy 12 ornaments........not 1

Wow Peg, I love that Nana.
Yes I have one ripe seed pod that I picked and will try to germinate. The plants I have are small and only one bloomed this season so I’m only sure of the color on that one. I is the one in the picture. I should be able to get 3 small cuttings from it. It will be a while longer before I can do much of anything so I am thinking I will have to ship in spring. I have the plant in the mini greenhouse now and if at all possible will do the cuttings soon and ship before frost as they all are in warmer zones than I am.
Morning Iris
Debra, hope you feel better soon.
Morning Karen that is the way I understood it anyway. BTW the idea sounds good to me also. I hesitate to commit to much right now but I believe I will be able to participate by November.
Hi ladies! Ok, just to repost my #23 posting here:
I'm doing fine! My brugs made it through the hurricane just fine. They lost all of their leaves in the 80+ mph winds, but they began putting out tons of buds the next week! I took 4 large cuttings of my possible CG brugs and stuck them in a pot of water with root tone and fertilizer (testing it out) and they are blooming like crazy in my garage with no roots yet!
I was very blessed to get a Dola this year on eBay so I planted her AFTER the hurricane (she's just a baby) and I can't wait for her to really grow! I also was able to purchase a cross from Liz (The Chief x Jacayna - not sure if that's the right order or not) and that baby made it through the hurricane just fine and now seems to have sprouted wings! She was about 8 inches tall above the soil line (grown from seed) about 2 months ago, and now she's about 3 1/2 feet tall! No Y yet, but that's not bothering me!! I hope she gets to be about 5 or 6 feet tall before the Y because of where I've planted her. I cannot wait to see how she performs! I also have a resiliant NOID Double White that is about 2 feet tall now. This guy has been battling mealybugs since the hurricane, but I'm out there daily attacking those guys with my sheers (yep, I'm snipping them in half!).
I thought after the hurricane that I'd lost most of my plants (some of which I did lose, including some palm trees), but not one of my Brugs was affected, thank God!
It's been hard to get on here very much since the storm because we have had SOOOOOOOOOOO much work to do around the house. We'd evacuated for 2 weeks, had some roof damage, electrical damage, very minimal vehicular damage, and lost some plants. The worse thing though was being without power after the storm, which is why we left. The clean-up has been crazy for us, and I'm having to baby pretty much all of my plants in hopes of getting the ones remaining back to full health before the winter hits us in January-February. So most of my time while at home has been spent on that. I'm going to try to log in once a day from work though until I can get on while at home again. Glad to see everyone is doing so well!!
Now in addition, here's a video that I put on YouTube of the Ike aftermath in my hometown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaRgvVGK93k
Our house is on the end there (our silver Camry and brother-in-law's gray Dodge truck) of the first strip of homes in the film. The scene where water is coming up over the road is on Hwy 35 in front of the western wear store there. The power lines in front of that place were all shredded and hanging open in the water. The one with the tan strip center actually has a billboard laying in it's parking lot that fell and blew from nearby. Shortly after that there is a shot of the railroad bridge in front of Wal-Mart on Hwy 35. The road actually dips down far there, but was impassible due to the standing water. We were blessed and faired pretty well. It turns out - the Cosmic Dancer hibiscus I thought I'd lost is putting on new leaves!! Yay!
The photo attached here is of an antiques store that was basically gutted by Ike. It's right by my house.
Amanda so sorry to hear of all the trouble that Ike caused you. I’m glad you are doing alright now and things are getting repaired. Great to hear that your burgs made it okay.
Please count me in on anything planned for Christmas. I would be willing to do both.
Love all the hotties, Mr & Ms
Hmm, not very clear. Sorry, but one of the buds is opening! Haha Tee hee, Whooo Peg
Thanks, Donna!
merpeg - can't wait to see that one open!
peeking in, needing a lil hottie help.....Karen, on Color it reminds me of pics I've seen of MEM, let's see her from the side.... no way of knowing unless you have parentage... I'm interested in the Christmas Hottie Fun, might be easier to wait see how much interest we get as to HOW we want to do an exchange... Sound good? Karen you are a doll to coordinate it (((Karen)))
Hotties, I'm tryin to catch up... will comment later today...
ALERT ALERT PLEASE READ
but IF anyone knows Texasgrower Jeanne, she' the lil camper that had me out with the flashlight lastnight (not really I chose to do that)... She isn't in the addr xchange and I d-mailed her... so if you TX hotties know her addr or can message her some other way, I'm sure she & I would thank you, wanted to get her pkg in the mail today... thx so much
AMANDA! So glad you checked in over here, it's so hard to keep up with these hotties!
Karen, that looks exactly like the picture posted by violabird in 2005 in the plant files, even the leaves look similar. Go look and see what you think. I think that would be a pretty positive ID.
Thanks Peg...It was given to me by Kenboy and Maggi and MEM is one of their favorites, I know that they give away alot of them, so I am pretty sure..will check out the plant files.
My goodness, I just found this link again, I keep loosing it!!!
Karen, I love the face, you can just put my name on it now!!! LOL
Donna, can't wait to get the blue hibiscus. It will be so pretty. Thank you very much!
Lots of pictures posted, and very pretty. I still have no buds, but waiting. We still have about 3 -4 wekks of decent weather, so hoping for a bud!!!
I have a question about dats. I had the real pretty double/triple/quad yellow bloom this summer, and now it is full of seed pods, and hardly any leaves. I know I have to leave the seed pods on the plant to ripen, but will this plant come back next year, or do I just let it go, and hope to get some decent seeds?
If someone wants some of the seeds, email me, and I will get them out when ripe.
Thanks for any help
Linda Kay
YAY!!!! PEG!!! I told you so..lol... yep.. now you will be a happy camper at the RU!!
Oh Amanda!! I really hate all the damage and the clean up you are experiencing! Hopefully, you haven't lost many plants and they will regrow from the roots!!
Karen.. that's the way I understood it too!! 12 for 12!!..LOL
Linda Kay.. now we are going to fight over Karens face pot..lol.. BTW.. I'd love some of your dat seeds if you could bring them to the RU Saturday?? Please mam?? I think the dat's will reseed and come back on their own next spring, for our area
Bonnie.. sorry I don't have Jeanne's addy
Beck, I will probably have to send you some Dat seeds later. They are still real green, and dry yet.
LOL about fighting for the face. Karen you will just have to take orders for them. make mine purple or green please??? LOL
Or share your mold, so we can make them???
See you at the round up. Got everyting ready to go, I just have to go get the rental car, pack it up, and on my way.
Linda Kay
That's quite alright Linda Kay.. just figured we could save the stamp..lol since we will be seeing each other!! Not long now... I sure am getting excited!!
Oh HOW exciting for you hotties going to the RU... like Christmas in October! Thx to Phyllis I have Jeanne's pkg read to go! Karen, maybe you could just make us all a "face"? lol I like natural, but any color is fine.. ;) What a fun project, I haven't gotten the courage to work with cement... but how ingenious with putting the clay pot behind it... so clever of you.
Here goes, I think I'm caught up (to this post anyway)
Louise, what fun with the chia pets and Christmas... I love simple fun inexpensive traditions like that.. And I bet your little town is still a buzz about the drug store hold up... and how
Audrey is the talk of the town with her brug bud(s?) They take longer when you check them more than 10 times a day, so you might keep that in check! :)
Wolfie, CAN IT BE?? Did you shorten one of those growing tips on your Royal Blue Iocroma? Was it getting kinda top heavy, or are you just wanting it to bush out or WHAT??? hmmmm? What cha doing that to it for?????? (I pronounce it Eye-O-Chroma, course I murder the English language everyday)..
HappyJoyce, I love the looks of that ginger plant... I've been trying to ignore you hotties talking about gingers.. I really don't need any more plant addictions... and they smell, too?? You are so welcome for Cassie's Curls, I was trying to be considerate as I know you have many BIG brugs and I thought Cassie would be something refreshingly "mangeable" cause she's small enough to move in and out with the weather... (mine has become my little pet along with Antique Lace).. cause they are more "mobile" shall I say, than my big girls and boys..I'll be sure to post the bloom pic, IF the bud ever hurries up and produces one... (I only look 9 times a day)
Donna, you have a way of saying things so eloquently... I'm so happy you had a good nights rest and I hope you notice more improvement like that each day. I'm glad us hotties could be even just a little part of helping you feel better, in any way. We ALL missed you and are so glad to have our Donna back. It's like Peg said, our nest of comfort. And when one of our chicks are not in the nest we all start squawkin'. (BTW-I d-mail hottie Posy-Lu-anyone seen her around?)
Debra, I hope you are just down with the sniffles, I probably missed something trying to catch up... noting serious I hope... rest and plenty of fluids type of thing..
I've sure enjoyed the pics up there, too.. Peg that nanner is incredible, your place is so pretty!
Newbie Hottie Iris.. You'll be okay in winter... we still have LOTS to cuss and discuss about here and it's a great time to acquire new addictions..... I MEAN make new plans for our spring/summer gardens.. Hang out on the hottie threads, that's where I'll be, or in the basement fussing about bugs or brugs or seedlings or something.. then spring will come and us hotties will celebrate our 1 yr Hottie Thread Loop... tehehe wonder what # we will be on by then? (prolly 1,000 if we keep going at this rate) lol
Okay, I'll see if I'm still caught up... must get busy here.. -HottieBon
One tiny bud left on brug, not growing and now drying up. Picked it off and tore off end and sure enough one of those nasty green worms inside. Now couldn't find any little hole so how did the nasty get in. Looks like no blooms this year, but I'm not giving up. Determined to be able to post a picture. Out come the sprays again. Hoping the new cuttings I'm getting will help cheer me up.
Karen I don’t know if it is MEM but she is beautiful and it does look like the pix Kim has posted of hers.
Yay Peg it will not be long now, you will have your bloom before the RU. BTW I am soooooooooo jealous of all of you that get to meet there.
Linda Kay I will do what I can with the blue ROS if it is possible I will send before spring. They are losing their leaves now as they should be but I am going to try and root a piece as soon as I can. The dat is an annual plant. It will only live a little over a year. Leave the seed pods on until you see them crack and then dry them like any other seed.
I also think in your zone if you leave the seed pod to explode on it own the seeds will germinate next spring.
Auntb yes getting a little better everyday, there is still a vast difference between now and the day Aidan was born, but I can see a reasonable improvement since last Friday.
I am forcing myself to move around even if it is just from the bed to the pc. I’ve had enough confinement and there is no way they are placing me in a rehab center. I for one know that is just a fancy name for a nursing home.
Hi Beck glad you are here with us today
Hello to all the hotties and hansomes, and Hi to the lurkers too.
I'll try and check in at least one more time this evening.
Beck - thanks! I've got to read up and it's going to take me HOURS to catch up on what everyone is talking about!! :)
Hello Hotties and Handsomes!!! Hi Amanda I am so gald that you are ok!!!! Debra hope you feel better soon.
Karen I agree with Donna...you have a beauty there : ) MEM has HUGE blooms if that helps any... Peg it won't be long now : )
TTYL I have Moravian Sugar cake baking :P
hi hotties , i did a little seed starting today ...some daturas , bird of paridise , and i did lilsistas plumie seeds yesterday . i potted some chocolate mint , sedum and a key lime my dg friend gave me brought my hibiscus in and freaked out a little because the leaves on my new brug were curling , i looked it up and it said broad mites or something . so i picked the leaves off . ill have to get something if the new ones are curling . oh and my passi incense came today it was like 2 ft long . i paid 4 bucks for it on marketplace . one of the laterals was bent so i cut it and of-course put rooting hormone on it and stuck it in a pot lol.
donna and deb hope you all are resting today !!!
Heya hotties! Donna so glad you are moving around, I was worried you weren't, it IS important to move around and keep everything flowing and muscles working. I know I was very sick a couple months ago and I had to be on steroids and breathing machine. When I finally started moving aroung it was such an effort!! Can't even imagine what you are going through honey.
Amanda so glad you posted!
Hotties have buds and cannot wait to see pics so we can oooh and aah like the others posted here!
BONNIE, you are such a DOLL! Thank you for my presents. Sent me the scarey plumies too! Now what??!! What am I supposed to do for those? The cypress you sent me is very different from the one I have. Much bigger. So NOW I have it. LOL Thank you so much for all the hibby cuttings..hope some of them root!

Life is too short and friends are too few!
A friend, out of the blue called me today. After over 30 years. He e-mailed this to me. Some of it got lost. LOL
good evening hotties and handsomes, Sandra that is awsome thanks for posting that, it is great when old friends come back into your lives isn't it Feeling a little better but still too weak to even go outside, luckily I have my binoculars and a window right next to me to check on the brug out back and I don't see any signs of any slip or skirt yet:P~ hope you all had a great day, going back to bed ..
Bonnie, you are a sweetheart for going out under the cover of dark to get my brugs. God bless you. I am so excited about getting the new additions to our little brug family. "Miss Gargantuan" is my first, just like the first born child. You make your big mistakes on the first one as you learn to parent. By the time the 2nd and 3rd and so on come along you have the basics down. So it goes with "Miss". I fret over every little thing with her. But I'v learned how to get started so now the new additions will have benefitted from "Miss'" lessons.
What a process it is, learning to care for these delightful plants.
OMG hotties can't you give me a break, I leave for two days and it is chattie chattie, anyway, i can not catch up today, long long day today away from home! Anyway i thank you all for wishing me a good trip with my baby Andrea and i did have a good one except for getting lost in the morning and missing the scheduled appointment at the college, lol, we made it back alive, that is what is important. now taking care of dinner for the family and DH, love you all, i hope to get back on line, I am so beat up! Clem
Been a long day here too...
I was home for a couple of hours this afternoon and it took me the whole time just to catch up....
Donna glad your getting up and around more....
Take it slow one step at a time..don't try and do too much at once...
Peg just loved your frost and plant thing had me LOL
So Clem how many more colleges left to go to??
I'm so glad my DD only picked 1 and that was it...She wanted to be close enough that she could travel back and forth everyday and still live at home...LOL
Guess she had to stay close to her mommy.. : )
Joyce sure your not hiding something or someone in that new flower bed??
Where's your DH?? LOL
Becky glad to have you back and glad your momma's doing good...

Phyllis, I have been studying up on peonies. I am scoping out the perfect spot for them in my yard. I have a lot of trees so It is proving to be a challenge but I think I have a spot. I can hardly wait for them to arrive!
By the way, where is Osceola? My parents hail from Dallas/Wilkes- Barre.
My dad was born in Dallas and as my GP's were gypsies moved around alot my mom was born in Swoyersville/Luzerne...(sp)
They both grew up in Luzerne County....
I spent most of my summers there..Still have some family in the area..
My Aunt lives out in Harvey's Lake..
My brother lives in White Haven
Osceola in in the middle of the state 5 miles south from the NY border..
oh wow, a small world. I spent summers at my Grandmas in Dallas. I had family that lived in Scranton. I've been to Harvey's Lake. My family's homestead built circa 1860's is just across the highway from College Misericordia in Dallas.
All you hotties that have the roundup...have a blast and remember..we want pics!!!!
