She's About To #25

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

We do all have a "little nest" It's right here.

I have no frost yet, and probably won't until December, different zones, but it is fun to learn about everybody's different zones here.

But the leaves are falling and the plants are pouting. "It's time to go to bed, Mom!" Oh ,no, it's not. Nobody goes to bed until the brug blooms. Murmur, murmur, "Where did he come from anyway? Usually by this time, we're asleep" "Yeah, who does he think he is?" One poor little plant that has done her best this year, "But did you see his buds?" "Shh, "say all of the older plants, "we are not going to talk about that. That's as bad as the H word. and somone named Beck has wet noodles."

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Louise, I would have given him drugs with a glass of water. It would not have taken 4.5 hours for him to be in custody. That is scary.

We had a bank robber this week, was waiting at the door when the bank opened, demanded money and his getaway vehicle was a bicycle. The surveillance cameras got him good. He had a team ball cap on and a team sweatshirt with his name on it. They still have not caught him. True story.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

omg...that is a true idiot!! Sheesh..well they sent in a bomb robot and found the guy face down on the floor he had taken morphine..ambien..and oxycontin. He is facing 7 felony charges and he is 28 years old. He used to work at the airconditioning place in town. Wonder if he was the one who fixed our shop unit. LOL

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Sandra.. glad to see you posting.. it's never good to hold our problems in.. especially when you have soo many willing shoulders here to lean on..

ALRIGHT.. dad gum.. yep.. I do have the wet noodles..lol... here I am finally home.. and ya'll abandon me... ya hear??? abandon.......!!!!

hehehehehe

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I was in SoCal when the LA riots happened. Now that was scarey! I did go home though. Was not gonna hang around for the 30 sheriffs shooting things up if it went wrong!

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Frrrrrossst!.. I can't even imagine it yet. 69 outside right now and I am about to go sit in the jacuzzi and relax my back. Brug is about to bloom.. cooler days is slowing down the blooms.. I feel like that old Mervyns commercial "Open, Open, Open" watching every day! Sorry to hear about all the roberies... and bad things going on everywhere.. trying to just stay quiet in my little yard. Here with my three doggies.. invited the electrician over for steaks when he comes to redo the electrical for the jacuzzi and the new ceiling fan... hey, I'm single.. he is single.. same age..... you can imagine from there... LOL

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OK, I have lost so many posts this week that if I repeat myself (this time) don't think anything about it.
You know you have too many brugs when you water and find one in bloom you didn't even know you had.
Bonnie, I want to thank you for Cassie Curl cutting and I will cherish her, but look what I found blooming. It is one of the $5.00 cuttings I got from park seed.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

ATTENTION HOTTIES! Bonnie and I were talking earlier, and I mentioned that I would like to maybe draw names for a little Christmas gift with the hotties, for whomever wanted to participate. Bonnie mentioned that a group she was in once had like 12 people...Each person made a little Christmas ornament, and then mailed it to the group organizer. In turn, each person got 11 other ornaments, all made by the other members. It would not have to be anything elaborate, even buying a ready made ornament and personalizing it would be fun. If we were to do something like this, we would need to organize it now, in order to give people time to discuss ideas, what we would like to do, make and mail the ornaments, etc. I will volunteer to be the group organizer should we choose to do this.

The other choice would be of course to just draw names and send a little something to our hottie Christmas pal.

Please let me know what you are thinking, I appreciate your thoughts on either not doing anything or doing something. You can Dmail me or post here. Love you all!!!

OK one more picture post.
A Hallween flower bed.
A guy stopped by and ask if my DH went out for cigarettes while I was digging my flower bed.
Couldn't understand the question cause DH has never smoked. Then I looked at the flower bed and started laughing. Must really look odd from the air!

OH, I would love to make Christmas ornaments! Love Christmas.....it is sooo much fun and the house feels so cozy with all the decorations up. Count me in no matter what we do.

Hope everyone is having better days it is so sad when good people have such challenges.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm still up and have not catch up but can follow now, so Karen that is a cute idea, problem is I'll rather buy the Christmas ornament than make it, no time for me
.

Clemen, have DH worried...LOL The flower bed is suppose to be alot longer and curved with another curved end, but I ran out of time and energy! Pretty appropriate for Halloween.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

It is perfect for halloween, lol, i stopped decorating and spending $$$$ on those holidays, my girls do not care anymore and i'll rather buy Spring bulbs at this time! nice to see some people still have that spirit, looks GREAT!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Joyce how do you get your ginger to bloom?? Clemen not even a pumpkin : }....

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I got to punkins from my garden! Joyce loveeee the pics! That brug flower is amazing and would lovee to smell the ginger. I have nite blooming jasmine on my sunporch..that smells really good! Glad it is not in full bloom anymore I think it would be a little too strong in there. Strong enough Just with one branch. Joyce that flower bed is hilarious! Your DH should be worried!! He is IN the house isn't he? LOL

I have monsters in my dining room!

This is after I cut off 2/3 of the cold dying leaves.

ok ok Kim some gourds for decorations inside and a cheap little pumpkin outside, happy now, hee hee. And my house is so set back from the street that kids do not even come over my house on Witche's day, only the little neighbors show up! about 5 of them grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

lol Clemen. Our town is so small the kids go to syracuse so they can get more candy...greedy little goblins! We get maybe 10 kids or so and that is it. The lazy ones come to our house and get handfuls of candy.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

I see Louiseeee, i used to bring my ee's inside and gave up, too many plants indoors, I have gotten myself in to big trouble with all of the tropicals!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Oh louise but the kids are all over the neighborhood here, it is mainly my street where there are few houses since they are spread apart, not like the hotties, but normal in NY standards, lol!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

zzzzzzzzzzzzz for me, long day driving tomorrow with Andrea! love to all good night and good morning too! Sorry I did not get to chat!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

nite nite Clemen..have fun tomorrow!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Kim, I didn't do anything to get the ginger to bloom. This is my first and I know nothing about it. I traded a guy some plant for it and didn't even know what color, when, or how it would bloom. It was in a small pot and now it is huge. I do think when I repotted it I used miracle grow potting soil. Otherwise I have just been watering.

I really didn't plan the flower bed to be that shape and didn't even realize it until the guy walked up and mentioned it! Since then it has been a real hit. Think I will get some syrofoam and make a headstone. I haven't decorated for halloween since I moved to the county. Use to love all the kids.

Lav, love the ee's. I can see where you cut off some huge leaves and it is still full.

I have buds on a lemon brug I purchased from Park Seeds for $5.00 also. All three brugs were all y'd already and in really good shape. I was amazed I could get a brug that cheap and pretty.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Night all, I can't stay up like I did last night, need beauty rest.....

Sleep tight.....

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Nite Joyce!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Joyce.. that is the way I will like it from now on.. just have a bloom and not even have to worry on the wait of the bud..lol.. love the pics too!! Yeah.. how did you get that ginger to bloom?? I do think that is what I have also... what is the name of that ginger?? BTW.. alll you need to try and find Karen's scarecrow.. IF he blew out your way( LOL), and put a RIP headstone out, and you are all set!!
Kim.. I never have been into Halloween.. so I don't even put out a punkin... yep.. I am BAD.. but.. being 1/4 mile off the road, most don't even know we are back here.. no trick or treaters at all!!
weese.. man.. that is a huge EE!! You gonna carve your punkins?? I want to see!!
Clemie.. my baby chickie!! have fun tomorrow.. and wear shoes that you won't be sorry for tomorrow night..lol nite girlie!!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

ok Clemen that's better lol!! Louise my DH will flip when I try to bring my EE in the leaves are huge..I just don't want it to go dormant!
Pretty blooms Joyce.great deal on your brugs : ) I hope I can get my ginger to bloom next year. Do yours go dormant?? Well i'm turning in. Nite Hotties!!! ZZzzzzzz........ : )

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

I came back to say I don't do Halloweem either..I just like to see the decorations : } hee hee! ~ Have fun Clemen!!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Kim I keep mine growing. They make bigger leaves the next season. My husband is used to my mad plant habits. he just says the same thing over and over.."omg..you are killin me here!" LOL

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Karen I LOVE that cement planter for the RU!!! waaaaaaaa! I can't go! I have the perfect plant for it, I've been looking for a reasonably priced head planter since Joyce and I went to Arnolds GH last April... found a few head planters but too rich for my lil coin purse.. that is so cool! If ...I mean WHEN I come down there, would you make one for me? You crafty little Hottie! Mask threads??? wha? I know you girls will have a blast, and again may I remind ya all - pics.. Louise! I didn't even recognize it with "hair" and it looks so BIG! LOL, you got me on that one...it's hair grew fast! But that's because you such a great grower and groomer! I'm keeping my Pete's Blue hibiscus you gave me upstairs this winter (sitting by the dining table right now) and it's opened a bloom today, it's a beautiful lavender, just like you! So special!
SandraD thanks for stopping in, I was getting worried about you.. sorry for your woes with Chelsea .. I think if the cuttings were frozen, they would be mushy or slimy.. how bout the Big Box of Cuttings from Dollie, have you got yours, yet? I have 1 in spagnum and 12 or so in the orchid moss, they are making nervous, but I'm not pulling one out, yet.. I'm a worry wart, they are probably fine. Hang around girl, good therapy here. (((HOTTIES & HANDSOMES))) oh! ok, I know yer out there.... (lurkers)
Audrey, how many times did you check the bud today? (I know you were, I still do that) With cooler temps, mine are taking a while to color up, but I'll have a pic of my first bloom on Day Dreams, soon. Versi smelling it up tonight..
Peg, you are a prize I tell you! I love that plant story, "did you see his buds?" ROFLMBO I can see you apprehending the drug store robber too! "bookem' Peggers!" lol So I understand this, the bank robber was on a bicycyle, (2 wheels w/pedals) on camera, a sweatshirt with his name ON it, and they haven't caught him??? And I will agree with you 100%- we have a comfortable welcome nest right here...
Donna I don't see why you couldn't get disability... I know people on disability with less problems than you are dealing with...So, do you get one of them stickers for your car so you can park in front? (bonus) I'm sorry, bad humor, but it could be a little silver lining.. I'm glad you are back here with your Hottie Sis's and Bro's and look for you here everyday.. I feel we've watched you start feeling better through your posts.
Joyce, keep reminding me of what I told you to do winterizing your brugs, remember I suffer CRS and it's not real simple putting it all into understandable words, but that winterizing post isn't going to be a 1 or 2 thread composition. so bear with me Hotties. I did edit some on fertilizing today and will add the keeping the pot off the cement floor tomorrow.
Hi Kim, the popper inner and Santeelissa, and Phyllis and I hope I didn't miss anyone - oh, Clemen mother of Copo ;) Ya'll have probably run away from me again with this thread and look at the time! I had to pack an emergency brug box for a new lil dg brugger so she could take cuttings with her camping mid week next,... or wait till closer to the end of the month. There I was, out there with the flash light again and make a snip so she'd have a nice assortment. I hope to have my list checked off by the end of the month! Now I need to check my d-mail cause I have a couple of those girls confused (so I don't send to the one not camping) but you "old timer" hotties know I'm usually in a confused state about something. It's not an affliction, it's a way of life! I've learned to live with it, guess you hotties have, too... tehehe Good Night Sleep tight .....Sweet dreams.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Nitey nite Bonnie! Hugs. Sleep well. that little piggy planter is really funny! Reminde me of the chia war my sisses and I have. Someone gets a chia pet for xmas every year! We scour the internet for the ugliest and rudest ones!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Girl, I've checked that bud about 6 times today, and showed it off to my friends! They're all jealous!!

Audrey, that is what Burg buds were put on this earth for, so we and check on them every 20 minutes and show them off to our friends and family. It is kinda like what we did with our children when they were babies.

OMG Louise, I haven’t seen a Chia in years, if I remember correctly they are all pretty ugly.

Well AuntB all I can do is apply, the dr has been telling me for over a year that I really should not be working and I’m way over the minimum range for disability. He has offered me the handicap plate for the car before also. I’m just stubborn and felt if things were too easy I would get lazy. I also use to enjoy my job but since my boss quit last summer and the co moved an additional 20 miles away, I really don’t much care about that job now. I still can’t imagine what it would be like not to work though. Seems to me I will be very board during the winter. Well not this winter because Christina has LOA until March with Aidan. We’ll see what happens now, again only time will tell and I’ll do the one day at a time go with the flow thing. We’ll be applying for the plate today because the dr insists I have it. This does not mean I have to use it all the time but it will be good in times like these.

I’m up early this morning but I slept last night for the first time in a week. The head is a little clearer. Next I need to move around some during the day, dr I saw yesterday is one that I see every 3 month or so. He really noticed the weakness/loopy ness, lack of mobility. He wants me to do a little every day, this is a good thing because every time I try and put something away or water a plant, one of the girls jumps in and stops me. So glad Lisa was there when the dr said that the steroids weaken my muscles and if I don’t get a little exercise he would have to put me in a rehab center. Now they will let be do what I can.

Sandra, even with the bout of depression please try and check in here once a day. These wonderful people make even the worst situation bearable. We will all try and keep your sprits up. I think this thread is the best therapy available.

Clemem have a great day in PA, hope you and the girls have a good time. Can’t wait for the week you will be checking out the RI schools. I will find a way to meet up with you.

Joyce, I love the garden shape, I usually do a little Halloween decoration. This season I think I will let it go with the exception of a pumpkin or two. Siobhan has already ask me when are we going to paint them. She remembers painting pumpkins in my garden last year.

Well long this morning and I know I miss several Hotties and Hansome in this post. I do want all of you to know that every single one of you have helped me recuperate. By being on this thread, it gives me a reason to drag myself up in the AM and try to read and respond. I know it is really helping with my recovery. So please know that every one of you has made a difference.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Good Morning Hotties and Handsomes in the Brug Forum, Just popping in to say hi to everyone, have a great day, thinking of you all in your lifes' journey, gotta git back to bed, sick. Debra

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh, its a gorgeous morning here. 55 going to 80s and light wind. And it's my day OFF (unless I decide to put in OT). I'm going out to play!

Please look at the list, there has been some changes, and we really need to work on those italic wishes. Also, remember to d-mail me if you consider yours closed.

I'm so not ready to start thinking about Christmas, but would definitely participate in a Hottie exchange. I get pumpkins for Halloween at a local church that has a "Pumpkin Patch fundraiser." I use them to line the flowerbeds where I do not want the little ghosts and goblins walking in as they trick-or-treat. Our neighborhood was all older people when we moved in, (now we're the old ones!) and we have a bumper crop of new little ones around. So, we get flooded every year. They are soo cute and soo excited. :)

Werewolfie, I'm not going to say what I think I'm seeing, I'll wait on AuntB, LOL!

Got to get outside, it's just too nice. Get well and stay safe everyone. Peg
