I'm excited that my polyneura is about to bloom after 2 years.
October Hoyas
Very nice, boonjum! Such a pretty hoya. I had a polyneura but it croaked within a couple of weeks being in my care. :(
So sorry. I've lost a bunch too but this one looks good!! I hope to post the open flowers soon.
Oh yes ... please post a picture of the blooms when they open!
Boojum, looking forward to seeing the flowers! congrats!!!
Jan
Good job, Kathy! That's one I won't even attempt to grow. Can't wait to see the blooms open.
Barb
So is this one hard to bloom? I thought so, because I have such better luck with multiflora and brevialata.
Blooms would be a bonus. I can't even get it to survive in my care!! :(
Congrats boojum! I threw my polyneura out this summer after starting it over about 5 times. It is one of the Hoyas on my never again list!
Doug
Gosh. I'm getting prouder by the minute! this one came from HD and gets mealy bugs now and them (oh joy!).
I have had difficulty keeping H. nummularioides alive. This is a cutting from a beautiful, large EA basket I had last year. The vines/stems were drying up and dying and I kept cutting them and trying to root them, some in soil, some in perlite, some in water. I had no idea any of this was still even half alive but when I was watering plants out on the deck this afternoon I found this little guy hiding amongst a bunch of little pots of cuttings in deep shade, just blooming away. Smells so good, really sweet! Maybe there is hope for me and this plant after all ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
WOW, Jan... one day mine is going to grow up and look like that!!! Gorgeous plant.
Barb
Holy cow!! That is beautiful, Sunshine!!
That is one really gorgeous nummularioides!
I have waited 2 years for a cutting to start growing........but, about 4 weeks ago, it stared, and already has 3 peduncles with buds coming.....Its going to get special treatment after seeing your photo
Thanks everyone for your kind words.
Jan
Just got back from vacation, to find several hoya budding up - including my polyneura also. She's got 3 or 4 peduncles with buds - this is a first-time bloomer for me! Can't wait!
Karen
Edited to say that I FINALLY got a new camera - so excited - now if I can just figure it out........

Is that your polyneura? Doesn't look at all like mine. Congrats on the new camera. It will be great to see what you can do with it!!
Sunshine: That is a great nummularioides! What is the secret on growing that one, or rather I should say, what is the secret for keeping it alive? Mine looked like that a year ago but unfortunately all I have remaining is that little pot in my picture!
Karen: Wow! That is a great shot! Which hoya is that? Polyneura is one I have not had luck with either, haven't quite figured out what it takes to keep it alive. What kind of camera did you get? I hope you will post another photo when those buds open!

Lin, nummularioides seem to like drier tham other hoyas I have. the plant got water damaged during a storm and I noticed some of the stems were pretty wet( my DH put the pot on the ground so it won't blow away), those parts are kinda dry but the rest looks ok so far. I need to trim the dried stems after flowers are gone. The plant stay under truss in the shade for ever, but one day I hung it outside got way too much water but didn't kill the roots. Thank goodness!
Looks like maybe your plant can go into a smaller pot for now so the roots stay drier.
Karen, great macro shot! Hoya buds are so intricate, its hard to appreciate them properly without a good, clear closeup image like that.
Woohoo - thanks boojum, lin and Mark - it means alot! My pictures have suffered from blurriness for so long, it's fun to finally have a chance to take some decent ones. I'm just imagining what I can do when I actually learn how to use the camera! I got a Nikon D40 - and I'm already scoping out additional lenses to get REALLY close up. Thanks again!
Karen
Lovely!
They look pretty healthy to me boojum! Have they changed since you took this picture? My polyneura hasn't bloomed yet so I don't know how long its buds take to grow to maturity, but a few weeks isn't unusual. In fact from the time I first saw H archboldiana's buds until they opened it was two months! I know its hard, but I think you'll just have to wait a little longer...
Great pics this month everyone!
Christine
Thanks for the reassurance! I can deal with any amount of time once I know to wait, but last year one of my hoyas blasted in the same room four times. The only change is that the color is getting richer. Fingers xed.
Christina, that is a great looking australis! I have a couple of australis noids and one finally has bloom spurs, I can't wait for the flowers!!
Barb, what a gorgeous Pink Silver! I got one from a friend last year but no signs of peduncles yet, I sure look forward to seeing blooms like that one day!
Boonjum: Oh, what a nice polyneura! I killed one of those ... I wonder if it was the heat? I look forward to seeing a photo of those blooms when they open!
boojum, georgeous bloom. I just wish mine would bloom. I think it's distressed. Some of the leaves are turning yellow.
bjf, pink silver is such nice bloomers with nice fragrance. I love mine too.
Christina, your autralis is very pretty. I have a huge one but no flowers, I wonder if I should pot it down.
Boojum, that is really pretty! I think Florida is too hot for polyneura to flower but I keep waiting. LOL
Hey, good growin', Kathy! Such delicate, pretty flowers.
Thanks Jan and Lin. Everyone's flowers are so pretty. I have buds on nummularoides, australis ssp tenuipes and (shhhhhhhhhhh... don't wanna jinx it!) linearis! waiting.. waiting.. waiting......
Barb
Oh, Karen, that is pretty ... nummularioides is one of my favorites for fragrance!
Wonderful boojum! Congrats, they're really lovely flowers. Mine was just a cutting last year and took until this summer to start growing so it'll be a long time before I see any flowers I'm sure.
And Karen your nummularioides flowers are very pretty; and I agree, their scent is just wonderful.
Christine
Thanks everyone. I am very proud and happy!! That nummulariodes bloom is wonderful!
Boojum: Oh, how did I miss the open bloom on your polyneura? That is a pretty one, the buds were nice but I love the color of that flower!
