This is my October favorite - Happy Times.
I looked for it on strep-info.com but only found two Happy Time, ( no "s") both different. I believe I bought it from Gary Mikita.
It is a great big floozy of a flower!
October Blooms
Gail, if by getting ready, you mean disbudding, no, ha. I hope some of them will look good enough to at least bring to the show.
I will enter a terrarium, design etc. for sure.
Glad your Apollo is blooming.
Kivit, that Happy TImes is a floosy indeed. Very pretty.
Sally, I was laughing at the leaves on Apollo. Happy Times seems like Cherry Pie or Midnight Flame when propagating. They get so big so quickly for some reason. That is a nice picture.
Pretty pictures ladies!
LOL @ Gail having more plants than a vender.. goldleaf you might be right!
I have two good starts Of Happy Times if anyone wants a leaf!
Lin - your home inside and out is filled with beautiful plants. Lucky with your Fla. weather, so many can be grown outdoors like orchids hanging in trees...aaaah.
Sally - I am happy to see Mac's Virtually Vevet which reminds me of this guy who was a novice and entered a show for the first time and won Best in Show with it along with Best Variegated. Talk about happy!
Gail - Apollo has the nicest bright yellow blossoms. Another yellow I like is Early Bird.
kivit - Love that Happy Times floozy flower. Very Pretty! Nice photo.
Jannich - Hi!
thx for the photo compliment! The nice gray background is the windsheild of my Toyota!
Goldleaf your tray of leaves looks picture perfect..I need lessons..lol..I hope you have wall to wall babies soon!..Love your other pics too..very pretty!
Gail..wow now you do have the leaves down and where in the heck do you put everything?? I am always running out of room with just the few I have! Great Growing!
Sally your av's have got to be the prettiest I have ever seen and your stands are always so well organized..I could use a few lessons from you too :o
Kivit Happy Times is a beauty..I have always loved the bloom on that one..yours looks especially pretty!
Hope everyone had a Great Weekend and has a Wonderful Week Ahead : )
cedarnest, You don't need any lessons growing streps! Don't forget, lots of those leaf cuttings were from you and they were so nice, fresh and healthy. I so much prefer buying on the DG Marketplace or trading than taking a chance on the online auction site where I like everyone else has received disappointing plant items for high prices both for plants but especially for shipping charges. So far, I have been pleased with ordering from Lyndon Lyons in the past. I am holding off getting anything now from them as I hope to pick up some plants at the MAAVS convention in November where Paul Sorano will be a vendor along with many others. So much more fun seeing and buying plants in person I think. Also, there is a local club fall sale this coming weekend which I just might have to check out. While trays and plastic shoeboxes of leaf cuttings are wonderful, I do feel the need to have some more actual plants to look at. ;-)
Speaking of plants, I do have one I've had for a while, a gesneriad called 'Pearcea Hypocyrtifolia". If you look, you will see it has a flower bud. The blooms are like red balloons. This plant likes high humidity every bit as much as an episcia.
Wow! Now that Pearcea is a Beautiful Gessie! I hope you will post another photo of the bloom when it opens! Love the foliage and the description of red balloons sounds great!
I just had to go google Pearcea! These flowers are so cute! http://www.gesneriads.ca/pearc2.htm
What gorgeous foilage-- I had to google it too!!
It's a plant that would like terrarium conditions but not absolutely necessary if the humidity is high enough to suit episcias, sinningias, etc. The link says the buds won't open unless in optimal conditions. If it opens, I'll know it's happy and i will take a photo of it.
How beautiful kvit! That is one nice fence! Very attractive and I like the flowers spilling out like escapees. Yes, unfortunately the outdoor flower season is drawing to a close but we still have the glorious autumn to enjoy.
Goldleaf Love that Pearcea Hypocyrtifolia..Such neat foliage..looking forward to a pic of that bloom..cool plant!
Kivit your gardens look wonderful..I especially like the Dahlias..they are a staple in my garden..ooo I am like you not looking forward at all to that 1st hard freeze but I will try and stay optimistic like goldleaf said..I will try and see the glass half full..lol...
Those are so Beautiful Nicole! The ones you sent me are still alive...and looking great I must say..I am so excited...I think I just might save these ..I sure hope so because I sure do love them..Thank You : )...I just can't get over how Gorgeous yours are! That Le Soledad Bronze has the neatest foliage ever....
I also have Strawberry Patch, but the main part I cut off over the weekend is still in the greenhouse. I'm not sure that it fell because it was top heavy . . . the 4 leaves that were still on the stem in the pot were wilting so badly, I'm thinking it was something in the pot itself. 2 of the 4 leaves were beyond savings, so I stuck the other 2 wilted ones in a cup of water this morning before work (yes, I know I don't have to put them in water . . . :-P). The two leaves are looking MUCH better now . . . tossed the pot.
kivit: Wow! You have lovely gardens! What do you mean time to tear them up for the winter? Everything still looks so pretty! Don't you just leave it to die back naturally? I've been in Florida for a long time (41 years) and our winter landscape is a bit different than other areas I guess.
Syrumani: Wow! Great photo's of your Episcia's! You should consider uploading them to Plant Files. I love the yellow bloom on that Suomi, so pretty, I'm going to be getting one of those from Susan51, can't wait! And, WOWZERS that Silver Skies foliage is absolutely gorgeous! The blooms just really stand out against that silvery foliage!
Thank you for the compliment, Nancy! I'm glad the ones I sent you are doing good! Give it a few more months, and I may have even more for you . . I haven't taken pix of the stolons Gail potted for me from the ones she received from LL . . . (if it wasn't for the Lone Star Gourd Festival in 2 weeks, I'd consider making another order!)
I do also have Cotton Candy, but just plain forgot to take a pic! Tomorrow will be AV/Strep night for me, so I'll take a pic of it then!
Thanks, plantladylin . . . I will post some pix in PlantFiles, but I think I'll wait until I replace the batteries . . . these pix really don't do them justice . . .

Very pretty, Hillbilly_Gran! Can you put me on a waiting list for a cutting/stolon? Do you have any others?
Well, I had a long post saying I love all the ones I missed above. Something is going on with my computer tonight or DG ... I keep getting hung up and then it loses the connection or quits all together! Arrrgh!
Anyway the gist of my post was Syru, you have some Awesome Episcia's! I love that one La Soledad Bronze but I think I have to say my favorite would be Ember Lace!
Hillbilly_Gran: Love that one called DeBary's Embers too .. I'm really liking the yellow flowers and will be getting a Suomi from Susan51 in the near future!
Thanks y'all for sharing your lovelies! I'm shutting down for the night ... computer is tired and so am I. Have a good night everyone.
Tommie that DeBary's Embers is Awesome..I have never heard of that one..love the name as much as the plant!
