Am loving your african violets, Bonnie. All I have left are trailers where I can cheat and have many beautiful crowns in one pot (lol)

We all fuss about Space Dust reverting to her parents, but I think she looks pretty with all kinds of blooms at one.

Lin you are just so sweet! Oh now that link with the article you posted just made me almost overwhelmed..I always knew DG had the greatest people..just amazing how they went all out to help a fellow dger in need..Amazing group of angels at work in the garden..

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes we do have allot of very nice people here... I loved the story... I also wanted to say that Gail sent me two AV trailers yesterday and also Roxanne sent me cutting of Sinn's and also leaves of AV trailers.. Thank you both so much...
Hugs,
Susan

Susan............I am just jumping in and out again............I knew that the big trailer would fall apart...........could you replant it again and make it look good?????????????? Other than me taking it apart, I didn't know how to ship...........

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Gail,
The big trailer was packed GREAT and it did not come apart.. What I was potting up were things that Roxanne sent to me... cuttings... I did add a little soil to the two you sent but other then that all was wonderful... I am thinking I am going to like these little girls... I like them already so much better then the big ones...LOL Now if I understand correctly these do not ever go into a big pot as they hang right? I read that you can put them in a long pot and let them grow, grow, grow... So tell me if I am doing something wrong.... They are just so cute.. Roxanne and Nichole have sent me leaves and also tiny, tiny ones... I killed 3 of the 4 that Nic sent but after I put the last one in a jar she is growing nicely now... Yeah.... I need things for winter so is why I am happy to play with these new babies...

Susan

When that small one starts to produce a lot of crowns, move her on up to be little bigger pot and before long..................she can have her own shallow bigger pot.........that big one made need a bigger pot pan but not anytime soon. She is really producing lots of crowns.
You can put them in a big pot but they need to be shallow ..........

Little kohleria *Peppermint* blooming now. It's a small compact grower with dark leaves but the flowers are full size....

No blossoms in this photo but I am proud of my strep propagation tray filled with leaves from Cedarnest, Gessiegail, and Mrsbonnie. Many great varieties here...
Looking forward to growing them over the winter and with any luck lots of plants in the spring.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

My goodness, look at Goldleaf's tray! I am smiling as mine don't look that way..........leaves are planted in every direction (lol). I can tell that you are a very organized person in your life.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm laughing at you, gessiegail! Want to hear something funny? It even bugs me that not all the labels are straight! LOL!
Hey, however you plant them as long as you get good results, that's all that matters and I know you do get great results ^_^, that's for sure.

(Zone 1)

Wow! Look at all those leaves! You are going to have lots of Strep's come spring, that's for sure! Love that Kohleria 'Peppermint' ... looks yummy! Of course I'm a big fan of Pink!

That sure is a very organized leaf tray! I used to be that way ... very organized! I still am to some extent but am getting worse the older I get! I'd hate for anyone to see my house! ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I must........just for fun..........take a picture of one of my leaf trays.............you will come unglued.........
now, this is my tidiest one...............wait until you see the next one........

I haven't even cut off the bad part of the leaf as she makes babies...............haven't had time........the others are worse looking than this but they grow babies...................

Now we know why Goldleaf is one of those people who probably cleans her house before the housekeeper gets there!!

I see lots of nice babies coming along in those trays with their wayward mothers. LOL!Gail. Having fun ^_^ !

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I love that 'wayward mothers'! Have to remember that one. I think all my plants may have a wayward mother in me..........smiling!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Let's see...hmm....they say "plants are like people".

Beautiful!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh my gosh............did you grow that from seed? The reason I asked is because someone gave me some speciosa seed grown plants last year. They bloomed so beautifully that I am currently potting up seedlings (many of them) of varied kinds of speciosas.........(they call them hybrid but they won't be when I grow them........as they are a mixture of Early Giant, Jack Evans red, etc)

Here are the two from last year.

What I love about them (sorrow..........this one was given away)............but the other one kept blooming. When one set of blooms dried up, another set came along...............

The first one I thought of when seeing Goldleaf's photo was S. 'Merry Christmas': http://www.gesneriads.ca/sinni091.htm

I just love the ruffly edges and the color is amazing!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I will take pictures of the other one that I took cuttings of and they are going to live!!!!!!!!

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin, I will have hundreds of them.......................to share...........I sat in the chair last night preparing solo cups with names for all of these..........needless to say I didn't get through.

Here is the cutting I took from the mother plant of White with Red Dots........

Next time.....I am going to just save one of each to take a cutting from............this is like having a new plant

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Here is my Merry Christmas.............Goldleaf just reminded me of how much I love these speciosas as opposed to the smaller ones. (I like the smaller ones, too).

I bought a box of surprises not knowing what anything would be.........I am loving it. I have already found 5 micro minis........this is one in bloom for the first time.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have already forgotten the name of this episcia I got from Goldleaf on DG marketplace. I took her top off today (the saran wrap)..............if you wonder what those tiny pieces of white are, I put that under each leaf to root her as I was afraid the leaves would die touching the soil on this one.

Wonderful photos! MrsBonnie, I love your Mac's L.Liesure. I have Virtually Velvet. Strong good plant.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

My...look at all your sinningia seedlings! Super! I know lots of work to divide and pot up also. Good growing there, Gail. Everything look so nice.
No, I didn't grow mine from seed. It does look similar to Merry Christmas but the blossoms on this one are single and not double.
I like mrsbonnie's Mac's Luxurious Leisure too. Love ruffed variegated leaves on any violet.
Lin - do you agree that Gail has more gessies than any vendor? ^_^

(Zone 1)

LOL, I think Gail has more plants than a lot of vendors, she has a Greenhouse inside her house! I wish I had the patience to propagate like that! My attention span is just too short, LOL ... I could pot up cuttings or sow seeds and then lose track and forget about them (even if they were right in front of my face!) I guess you might say I'm a bit wishy ~ washy, enjoy sowing seeds and potting up leaves but then don't want to take the time to check on them or care for them properly and they end up kicking the bucket! I used to be better in my younger years but the older I get, the worse I get. ^_^

Just took a picture of my Mac's Virtually Velvet. She is always so pretty.

Two other pics. of two of my shelves. The biggest ones are together. Some are getting huge.

(Zone 1)

Wow, Sally, that Mac's VV is stunning! Your shelves are so nice and neat and yes, those certainly are some huge AV's ... very nice!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Wowser, Sally. I hope you are preparing them for the show the first week of February!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have to show you all something funny. I had ordered back in the spring a Columnea
'Apollo'. I overwatered it and you can see the leaves have never recovered. So...........I cut back all the leaves and started new plants from this one. Today I saw these blooms and almost started laughing at the pitiful foliage to join it!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't this a yummy yellow.........I may have to order some more of her so I can have more than one little square pot of her that I rooted.
