Garden Photos - Part 39

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi RC
I always applaude the flowers that still make an effort this time of year, when all the messages are to go to sleep for the winter.

Nice Shelly. No, I have the straight species and Early Amethyst.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Shelly, I'm surprised about the Norway maples out your way. They are considered an invasive alien species here, and they crowd out the natives. I like your hibiscus bud and callicarpa.

Boojum, nice allium.

Great pics Dawn and Victor.

I'm impressed with everyone's photos! Well, not so impressed with all of those turkey vultures!! The geese have been forming up for about two weeks now, I guess the real freezing frosts are too far away!! *sigh*

Thomaston, CT

The vultures are probably migrating--they don't go too far south, & they're usually back in CT by late Feb. Saw a kingfisher yesterday, & quite a few jays--other than that, not much! Here is a black-stemmed aster that I like.

Ditto on the toad lily and I love the orange color of the dahlia.

I have a vision of you being drawn to the light of the computer screen as you are moving on to your bed thinking 'I'll just post a few pics'. lol

Funny, Jan! I was just thinking the same thing ... like a moth to a flame!
Sleep well, Shelly!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Love the toad lilies. Mine quit weeks ago.

I had seeds for the callicarpa this year, but no luck starting them. I may give it another try. I had both white and purple, I think. But I really want the purple. The pics of the berries are so pretty.

booj, your allium is sweet. I bought a couple this year, but I think they are both spring bloomers.

my little blueberry bushes are all crimson. they need to be weeded and some mulch added. I have a huge box of pine needles I ordered just for that.

Beautiful roses!
I still have some buds on the Memorial Day rose. I'll have to cut them today, as we had a really hard freeze last night. I don't know if they will bloom indoors after the freeze, but I'm gonna try!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

wow roses
wow

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

they might. recut the stems after you bring them in and put them in warm water.

Beautiful, Jan.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Very nice Jan, what do you do with the pressed flowers?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Put them in a pressed vase?

Thomaston, CT

Great roses, Jan! Hope the hibiscus blooms--it looks interesting. Loved the orange dahlia, Shelly--it's a color I probably wouldn't order, but seeing it live so to speak, I guess I would like it. Here are 2 totally different blooms on the same dahlia bush---I didn't order the yellow one!
