A few years ago I was watching a turtle trying to bury her eggs, while a racoon was digging them up from underneath her and eating them. She really tried pushing the racoon away with her shell. The racoon just kept coming back for more. I didn't have my camera with me, and it was one of the most fascinating, sad things to watch. I was afraid to get too close or to try to help...

Thanks to you all! DH has the camera in the Adirondacks this weekend, so I'll have to hope that some of the pretty spots I passed this morning will hold onto their leaves for a few days. It really looks like Fall out there today! Cold, cold, cold for the weekend!

Lovely pics, everyone. Still have not taken any pics to post for this year. Soon, I'm hoping. Plan to get a lot of work done this weekend in the gardens, but I will be taking a break to go to a corn maze with a friend and my Dad. Maybe there will be some fall color there. I have noticed that the leaves of the red maples are changing quickly around ponds and other areas where there is water, as they do each year.
