۞Sweet Interruption۞ 33
I am soooo excited-I LOVE it!! It will have one purple and one blue iris to go with my kitchen!!
No, not my dog... just a pic that was emailed to me from a friend.
I'm finished planting all the plants I had in pots... whew... now, I'm off to start a new bed for sticking cuttings of some trees that someone is bringing to the RU for me.
SYL.
BJ-did I tell you that both of the trees that arrived in good shape are doing wonderfully!! The one the bunnies ate all the existing growth on, but that just made it branch and get more new growth and the other is doing great too-I am going to mail that to my gpa-thanks again soooo much!!
6's & 7's... one of my mother's phrases. (Notice I am turning into my mother!) It means being at odds with yourself; not knowing what to do.
I got a million of 'em!
You're welcome Stacey... you're a good tree mama...
I'm still pulling them up like weeds... want some more?
OOO-I see-OK:)
LOL-not right now, but I will let you know:) Thanks!!
Haven't read all this thread yet, just checking in to say hello. Been in the yard since 9 but got a lots done. Taking a break, going to buy some groceries and then back home. Check in later but have a good day everyone.
TINKY--I got the package yesterday and did post somewhere--can't remember where. Everything arrived in perfect condition and I love the vase and flowers!!!! I will post pic when I return from shopping. Good time to go--everyone watching foosball so stores not crowded!! Later4
Good afternoon! Missed the morning crowd - had to run off to the farmer's market to put in time at the Master Gardener info table. It's fun to sit there and visit with people passing by. Lots of dogs and babies. Beautiful day here - in the 80's with very low humadidity. (that's what DH calls it)
Stacey, I'm interested in your coop. Would you send me your list? Red pants is here today. He hasn't taken his shirt off but he is wearing jeans ripped in the back with his plaid boxers showing through. Interested in that???????????????? LOL!
They just came in from cutting up two oak trees that fell in the storm. Better go get them some lunch. Later .....
LOL nah you can keep the plaid boxers I get to see all kinds around here with the school kids LOL
LOL, Jaye! I KNOW Bush is not up for election again!!! Tee hee hee!!!
Yeah, Phyllis, I bet you do see plenty of 'drawers'. LOL!
Ah, your eyes are still good then Debra!!
Okay, is 6s and 7s like 9s and 10s?? So, the further north, the higher the numbers?
Wow, that got Audrey in a cheery mood. Has anyone seen the debate? Not me, and I normally pay attention to that kind of stuffs. But these political debates are all alike. No specifics..
Maid Marion, wonder what Kim's cooking tonight? Us, is a some down to earth fried chicken. That will go well with the game. Have I said Geauxxxxxxxxxx LSU ??
He he he.. btw... I hope my swap buddy likes eclectic stuffs. Got to warn her I'm color blind!! Wait, anyone of you can be my swap buddy..
poor you ;)
Neevr hear of 9's & 10's but sound right to me. We always get less of everything but snow up here. We have two seasons in Michigan: snow and road construction and this year I thing all we have is the road construction. Cana't get anywhere from here.
Got over my frustration about not having my sewing machine (mine in shop) and borrowed one from a friend. I planned to sew all weekend and now I can. Of course, I had to go out and pick it up and just happened to pass the fabric store and since I just joined a new quilt block swap...well, you know the rest.
SOMEBODY BETTER LOCK ME AT HOME!
You are grounded young lady-no more fabric stores for you til you get whqat you got done!!LOL
Marion-glad you got it-I was nervous:)
Debra-coming:) When it opens I will post a link here....
Hello ladies, I am back home, and have to go back on Thursday, to get my stitches out. Doc is still in the hospital for testing, so keep your fingers crossed he is better by Thursday!!!
I had a wonderful time with my Granddaughter. She is growing so fast.
You ladies are real chatty.
I thought I saw a smaple in San Antonio, but wasn't for sure. I just saw this blur of purple, and green, and yellow go through my DIL backyard. I tried to find him, but he went pretty quick. And I did not know they liked smaple syrup!!! LOL
Maybe if we pour a trail of syrup, they will be lured in???
Take care, and I will be lurking, trying to catch up on all the threads.
Linda Kay
Now, now, to be fair. You can't tell a fabric addict that Stacey! What if we were to tell you, no more co-ops or swaps?? You won't want that do ya?
LK, everything has a reason.. glad you managed to take advantage of time and spend it with your grandaughter.
LOL-OK-you are right-she asked for someone to stop her though:) I was just bein helpful;)
Marion and I understand her completely. Sheesh I have materials older than you Stacey!!
LOL-WOW-they must be dusty and very retro;)
LOL... I still have a scrap of fabric my mom made me a dress out of when I was a little girl... 1st or 2nd grade... it's still rather nice too.
Retro? More like relic!!! Surprisingly they're still in good shape. Tight weave and it helps when yarns were very good then.
BJ, do you have that dress still? My mum used to sew me and my sisters dresses. The one that stood out have these big apple prints and large collars.
No, I don't have the dress... but I do remember it... it was a bodice waist dress with a full skirt, sleeveless, and collarless... had bias tape binding around the arms and neck. Big tie in the back, and buttoned up the back.... remember it very well. The fabric is a blue background with yellow keys all over it.
Awww.. you remembered it well ...
Yeah, every dress mum made must have a big tie. That stopped when my younger sister was too close to a fire.. short like she was, that tie was aflamed!!
Remember rick-rack? Then mum went into rick-racking for every blouse she made :(
Yep, those sashes could be a problem sometimes. Mom quit putting them on my dresses when I wouldn't keep them tied, and they'd get stepped on at recess and usually got tore off. Rick Rack was on almost everything she made... somewhere, somehow she'd always find a way to sew it on everything.
Looking back, my sisters and I laugh at that. We were known as the rick rack sisters.
Thank goodness for school uniform.
I never wore a school uniform, so mom had fun gussying me up for school everyday...
Problem was that I was such a tomboy, the PRETTY things she made me never lasted long... the hems got tore out, sashes tore off and buttons were always missing.
She finally learned to keep it simple for me... just plain jane dresses... we couldn't wear shorts to school when I was in elementary school, or I would have definitely been better off.
School uniforms are mandatory in Singapore for as long as I can remember. Always a white blouse under a blue pinafore. And they were polyester! Poor us, in the heat, no airconditioning nor fans.. we practically studied in sweat!!
P.E.. those ugly giant bloomers!!
Ladies, remember a month or so ago, we were talking to potagere from France, and about me asking for the liquor filled chocolate covered cherries, (mon cheries). well, I got a box of them in the mail today, and ohhhhh, are they so good.
Thank you sooooo much for the cherries potagere. They are so delicious!!!
Just goes to prove one more time, that we can truly have a wonderful time here with our gardening friends!
Linda Kay
I'm glad you enjoyed them, LK... Stacy traded him some seeds for those choccies...
He's in Houston visiting and brought them with him from France to mail from Houston so they wouldn't melt... I hope they didn't melt too bad...
Well LK, whenever my sister sends me some, instead of giving them to Kel's brother, I'll just mail them out to you!
They won't melt if sent out during the winter months, from France and provided customs don't confiscate them.
You are so kind Stacey :D
My grandmother made all my clothes when I wa a kid. She sewed beautifully on a treadle machine (I learnt on that machine) and never used a pattern to cut out clothes. I longed to have something from the store; just didn't appreciate what she did until I had kids and did sewing for them. They, too, laugh at the clothes I made back then.
Guess that is why I stick to quilts these days.
My mom tried to make me clothes-but they were always like lopsided, like the pockets not being even or one leg tighter than then other-stuff like that:)
Yes-I did send Jim his seeds this last week:) So enjoy your choccies LK:)
That is so nice! Both of you, Stacie, and Jim. I've been wondering where he went. Hope I didn't scare him off talking about 'the change' and my 'mamaw panties'.
I don't think that did it, Debra... he's a good ole' egg.
I thought it was the one with the most fabric when she goes wins ...that's not how it works???? LOL
