I've been trying to become a lady of leisure since we sold the marina... been 3 years now... and so far... it's not working.
۞Sweet Interruption۞ 32
I was just wondering if I had been married long enough to be batman?? Ya think??
Hey Phyllis!!
Yes BJ, but you get to do gardening and crafts all day and stuff like that and not having to go to work every day-I think that is waht Phyllis means-but you are never leisurely-you are one busy lady:)
Hey Stacy ...LOL on batman I would guess the answer is yes you are LOL
yeah like she said BJ LOL

LOL-aw man-I didn't want to be batman yet!!LOL
Yea... maybe... but I still work harder now than I did when I made money for wearing myself out.
Well, Don's home for a week... and we're discussing what to do with ourselves...
I think he's thinking a building project... I'm thinking shopping...
Hmmm.... maybe paint the house... think?
Hey Batman!!
Mosquitos out there look like flying hypodermic needles! Thanks for your concerns. We've been through bad storms, and at least we're not displaced. Poor Joey..
Marion, Walmart pizzas are good too. They have more meat and not too acidic.
Tina, Tia.. hope you're okay. Haven't seen you lately. And we do care.
Well Tink there is one way to find out if your are batman!!
I do understand BJ, being retired is more work than not being retired. Seems like hubby and I always had more to do but then it could be because of his illness and we got further behind. Considering all, I think I like being busy better--keeps one from stagnating!! I think. LOL
Jaye, I would definitely recommend staying inside with an army of mosquitos that size around. Think the blew up from Florida? Haven't miss any so far. Now what is Kyle going to do.
I miss Joey and hope she is doing well. Such a horrible mess to have to deal with where Ike traveled.
We usually go for pizza but I was thinking of the fish sandwich I get instead. Don't cook fish as I am the only one who eats it here so I usually get some when we go for our weekly family outing. This place make a "to die for" blackened mahi mahi sandwich!!!
I know you work hard BJ-you are always busy:) It is a labor of love now:)
Auinte M-I don't own anything like that and don't have a couple hundred $$ for it-one day when I do, I'll let you know if I am really a Batman;)
Jaye!!LOL-needle mosquitos-that is just plain scary!!LOL
Anyone who is sick of the storms can come see me-3 guest rooms here since I have rotten eggs:)
Okay, niece. Let's be candid here. Your birthday's coming, and you know you're getting pressies.
Tell us what you're wishing for, so we'll make sure you won't get something that will be put in the dungeon.
A cowboy
A cowboy named Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in California when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him.
The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, RayBan sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?"
Bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?"
The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.
The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany
Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.
Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."
"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says Bud.
He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.
Then the Bud says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?"
The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"
"You're a Congressman for the U.S. Government", says Bud.
"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"
"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You tried to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a thing about cows...this is a
herd of sheep. .
Now give me back my dog.
Phyllis, Did you make those? How long have you been doing this? Last summer I went to an auction and there was glass grinder and evrything to go with it. I bid on it but lost out. It went for $200, and if I would have had more money I would have bid higher. There was at least $500 worth of glass, a kit for a Tiffany lamp. OHHHH I wanted it sooo bad. I want to learn to do that.
yep just finished them.
I've been doing it since ummmm ...let's see my youngest daughter is 25 and I took class when I was in Monticello Illinois...soooo umm close to geez 25 yrs....I feel old now LOL...
do a search for stained glass class in your area you'll get a number of shops listed ...I just tried it and 10 to start with came up
Well Phyllis.. you've truly created an amazing work of art!
You should be proud of yourself!
We'll try to go to Aynor next week, and check out the crafts store. Bad weather all around here.
I LOVE the cowboy story... thanks
Phyllis, that's something I would love to learn to do too... but, I have too many irons in the fire already... so, that's one of the things I have on my to do someday list.
Jaye... those storms are getting the best of your area... hope you and yours are all alright.
dang storms go away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we don't want any more storms
shelly (my DD) told us last night at dinner that the couple in Houston getting married on the 1st of nov have to figure out what to do now a the glass palace(?) is no longer a glass palace and that is where the reception was to be
Cindy, loved the Cowboy!! Oh so true!!
Phyllis those are beautiful!! Is there anything you don't do? Like BJ, to many irons in the fire. Need to put a few out before taking on something new. I keep telling myself that!!
Tinky, why would you need $200.00? Use your imagination!! I am sure you could do that.
Okay, I am not getting hammered by bad weather now but I for one am getting a little tired of it everywhere. Be safe Jaye---Kel and critters also.
yeah I don't knit, metal working I have not tried, tole painting, ummmmm I know there is others I have not done yet but mind is blank LOL
my goal is to get wood working tools to try and make more "bowls" and I really want to get a kiln and do the slumping and fusing glass stuff ...someday when I am rich ROFL
Cindy, having lived in Idaho with many a sheep rancher, I've already emailed your story above to every one I know - after changing my clothes.....
getting some trades mailed out today. beds are soaking wet and can't get into them.
smaples also eat maple syrup
What happened Bon, forgot your depends? LOL
had a dear friend haven't heard from in 20 years that is a stained glass artist. She does landscapes, animals, no patterns used. her stuff is so great, I'd never even try. I'm no artist. she did a "caribou on the tundra in autumn" scene, all in shades from ivory through tan - it was ART. She's still in Spokane area. she did a 3'x4' carousel horse, complete with carbocons (spelling?) stones in the harness, pure FUN.
I've lost her # and if I ever find it, i'm going put together some cash and commission her to do something in irises. She did a doorfront panel, about 2.5' x 3' of daylilies for her sister as a wedding gift, and I've been wanting something like that ever since.
yup, left 'em in the back of the new pickup truck. kinds forgot things back there get wet in rain, two days of rain....
darn it all !!! sun's out, I'm out side sifting through a pile of irises to be planted, and the skeeeters attacked! Chased me back inside.
What kind of truck did you get? I wished we had a small one for hauling stuff to dump. I use my 4runner to haul stuff. Even had a rototiller in it.
Do have any lavender? I heard they don't like that
I'll have to look and see if I can find the picture of the stairway window I did back in Illinois ..left it there as it went in the window so you didn't have to have curtains in it...plus I glued it in LOL
some day when we have the money to redo the kitchen here I am going to do it in all the top cabinet doors ...make panels that is for them
Cindy... I want a new car... but, we'll have to keep the truck for those hauls...
It's a full size, long bed pick up... and sometimes it's still not big enough...
BUT, when I get my new car, it'll just be parked most of the time... except for Lowe's runs, and Plant Center runs... Flea Market runs... well, you get the idea.
That's what I want to do in my kitchen window... it looks out onto the sun porch, and I'd rather have it pretty than useful.
what size is it??? idea of what you want in it??? ROFL
Cindy, I can relate to you and your 4runner. I have a Highlander and it has been so long since the seats have been up I don't think I even know how to do it!! Using a neat sheet to cover as it is waterproof and washes. My son has my truck and he stores the trailer. Yes, he is usually right here with both when I need them to haul things. It is amazing what you can put into these cars if you have a mind to!!!
Phyllis, when do you find time to work? What a list of crafts. I don't knit either but have always wanted to learn. Not sure if it would be a good idea now with my wrist problems. Quilting sometimes can do me in for a while.
Bon for a change I will take some of the rain. It is getting really dry here.
Oh Sandra if it would only stay that temp!! It has been cooler here and the humidity lower that helps a great deal.
Oh, how cute. My GDs have a chocolate lab puppy but only the youngest seems to be able to play with him. She doesn't have an thoughts about telling him no or stop! The 5 yr is still leary of him when he jumps. Funny thing is when he jumps he is over the head of the 3yo!
How long before you will know the judges decision? Or did I miss that? Here is praying it is in your favor!! She looks so happy.
Phyllis, I haven't measured my kit window... haven't got that serious about it yet...
HIDEY little Amiyah, Nana BJ is waving to you... smooches.
Wishing you all a happy weekend.
Be safe, have fun
LOL, chat lots see you all Sunday...
I will be thinking good vibes for the decision!! She sure is adorable and I am positive so much joy in your life.
Is that beautiful smile for me? How precious is that?
I'm really needing a grandma fix here... can I pinch her cheeks?
Wishing you a good weekend too, SeedTosser !!!
Keeping my fingers crossed here too... and praying constantly that the grandma that loves her the most gets WONDERFUL news next week.
Oh BJ just think of all the fun we could have spoiling that one for sure!!! I just had a call so I guess I will be getting a grandma fix a little later today. Of course, you can see I am complaining!!!!
