ET Fall RU 10-11-08 Trade List Pt. 3

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Ok links above added for cando and ddtex for their lists and

Please stop by the food thread and give a head count for you so we can get that count for name tags and food.

Gilmer, TX

Is anyone else having trouble getting the trade links to open?

East of Nacogdoches, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Ya'll,

We're gonna have to miss this RU. DH and I became sick on a trip over Labor Day and while DH is in the pink, I'm struggling occasionally.

I had promised EastTxYardBoy and darkmoondreamer a cutting from a Vitex. If you're ever in the Nacogdoches area, pop in and I'll give you cuttings of that and anything else. Just D-mail me and I'll send you directions.

Anyone else from these boards has the same offer.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Well you work on you getting better that is more important then the Ru

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

We'll miss you! Feel better soon!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I've been saving the seeds from a few special varieties of my giant zinnias separately and now think I have enough of this particular one to share if anyone wants some.
It's an off white cactus bloom and gets about 3" across.
Depending on how many people want some will depend on how many seeds I can put in each packet. Even a tablespoon will give you a good start... I've only had ONE plant this year with this bloom, and it's been a serious bloomer.

Oh BJ, may I have some of these desert white seeds? Is there anything from my list you would like? Those are beautimous!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Karen, the photo doesn't do justice, as usual... but, of course... I'll put your name on some.

What color are your shrimp plants? I'm looking for the fruit cocktail if you have any.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

haha, I am looking for fruit cocktail too! Isn't that funny? I did find an online nursery that sells BLUE ones, I'm going to buy some next summer. I have the regular pink kind if you'd like one.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, I would... I have yellow and red... but no pink... thank you.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

Thanks Phyllis, for adding me to the list.
BJ could i have a few of your cactus Zinnia. I don't need many seeds as they will go into a container.maybe 4 or 5 seeds.TIA

Becky,I'm sure i'm older than you so i had that title first. ROFLOL

Texas gardener, My garden was neglected for 3 or 4 years and i was amazed at how much survived. Definately worth the risk and effort.
Vickie

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Vickie....OK ok.... lol maybe you are a lil older... soo we will have to share the title.. cause I need it too..LOLOL

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

You got it Vickie...

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

bj I just realized that you said you have yellow shrimp plant and I have that on my want list...may I have a little please? Be glad to make another trade with you.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure Karen... but you're already bringing me some pale pink and purple Althea cuttings... I think I have one new little yellow shrimp plant coming up...
Not sure how to propagate them... cuttings?

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

bj I haven't had good luck with rooting cutting of the shrimp plant either, although it's supposed to be easy. I killed about 6 cuttings of the yellow this past spring...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I just looked it up... and see that simple layering is the way to do it. Too late to do that now for the RU, but I'm going to try it, and I'll be sure you get one if it works. OK?
But I'll see if I can find the little one and bring it.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ok kids what is this??? my CRS syndrome has kicked in and for the life of me I can't remember unless my brain is tellin the truth I wanna say Mexican hydrangea???

whatever it is there are number of lil ones comin up that I can dig up for trade if anyone is interested

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It looks like a hydrangea leaf alright... but I've never heard of a Mexican Hydrangea... and I didn't know they come up around it like that... thought the only way to propagate was layering... hmmmm

Gilmer, TX

Mibus, I don't know what it is but I like those leaves and would be interested in trading for one. I will have other things up soon, I promise.

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

i found this:

will get the lil ones dug up and ready for the 11th

Lufkin, TX(Zone 8b)

thanks!

tracie

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, please put my name on one of your Mexican hydrangeas too! According to this link, it is very invasive, so it should be right at home here. lol I can plant it with the apple mint. Seriously, it appears to be deer-proof and drought-resistent once established, so I can use it. Gorgeous flowers too! http://www.floridata.com/ref/c/cler_bun.cfm

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

will do if I counted right there are about 10 lil ones coming up so 6 are taken for sure now and will dig up others if wanted.
But now that I know and will remember what it is I am going to move it to a spot it can spread more to make like a privacy screen LOL

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I'd like to remind you all again that we are doing door prizes. You must bring a prize to get one. Anything is acceptable as long as it is nice, and something you yourself would be proud to get. Crafts, food gifts, bath baskets, seed baskets, whatever you can think of. Can't wait to see you at the RU!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Hey Becky, mine is the same plant...give it some room.lol

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I just dug up the ones asked for and OMG these puppies spread I had more then 10 and the roots run not far under ground and that is where the new shoots come from .....some have roots I wrapped in a circle to get them in the containers LOL
