Joan, nice idea, but I am at the whole other end of California, and not likely to take that trip. Would be nice, though.

That Agave is tremendous...and magnificent... I wonder if palmbob signed up for this? He'd know. (I want one...but my chances are about as good as visiting the Land of Oz)

I'm so happy to hear the positive feedback regarding our magazine.
I've passed your words on to the editors who work so hard to try and put out the best gardening magazine with the strongest content.

Another batch of names should be mailing shortly, so keep an eye on the mailbox.

Thanks DGers!

As per Michelle Gervais (one of our editors), the agave is agave americana 'marginata'. Hope this helps!

North Augusta, ON

Oh, that helps...you've just saved a few members from going insane!!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Kyla, I'll just come up and collect you next time I visit my daughter in McCloud and we can zoom down to Encinitas to see that garden and all the other fantastic gardens and nurseries! I love road trips! And plant road trips are the best! With a camera and lots of memory! and money!! LOL

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thank you Jessica!

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, Sue! That would truly be wonderful! Only problem of course is the durn money, LOL! But even so maybe we might just work something out one day. If you do plan to be up this way shoot me a Dmail, okay?

Yes, Jessica, thanks very much both for the ID and for t he reassurance that we remaining Magazine Orphans will receive surcease soon!

*grin*

Ok Kyla, maybe ours are in this new batch. Magazine Orphans. LOL

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

hahahaha

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 7b)

I am going to get a shirt that says..."No I'm not crazy, I am magazine deprived"
Maybe that will throw them off. ^_^

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Ah, you might get the wrong magazine that way, subscriptions to the National Enquirer or World Mining.......

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Whoop!~ Mine arrived just now, along with a check that had been delayed, I am a happy grrl. ;-)

Chris, check your mail yet?

thanks Jennifer and all!

Kyla

Fine Gardening came in the mail today. Thank you. Very nice!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Got mine today as well, Dec. issue!

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 7b)

Yes, I checked. I am still Mag. Deprived.
Anticipation is still here though. LOL

Davenport, IA

Mine came today (Feb issue) although the bill arrived several weeks ago...

Looks like a very nice magazine.

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Chris, can I still be an honorary magazine orphan and keep you company? ;-)

Kyla

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 7b)

Sure Kyla, sounds good. LOL
Waiting for this magazine and realizing that some are getting different months, got me thinking.
I wonder if we could buy the magazines they have left from the month before.
Actually have a subscription for 1 month old magazines. At an amazing price of course.
What do you think?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I like the idea but I wouldn't hold your breath...I can't speak for Fine Gardening, but there are some other magazines that I subscribe to that sell back issues on their website, and they are always sold at the cover price.

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 7b)

Wow. I wouldnt think that anyone would pay full price for a back issue.
Then again, I know people who pay ridiculous prices for ridiculous things.
In hindsight, I guess I have bought some things similar, but I usually try to buy "smart".

If I was Fine Gardening and could sell them for full price or even close to it, I would be very happy.

Guess I was just looking for a really good deal. ^_^ Can never hurt to ask. LOL

I'm not sure how many people really buy the back issues, I just know I've seen some magazines offer them. But when you think about it from the magazine's perspective, if they sold back issues at a really steep discount then why would anyone ever subscribe at regular price or buy this month's magazine at the newstand for full price, they'd just wait and buy the back issue a month later.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

The February issue arrived today, lovely. I'm not sure my husband was thrilled at all the drool on the pictures of greenhouses.

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL!

I now understand too, the excitement over the photo of that Agave in Quail Botanical Gardens. Some very lovely things in there......

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Well shoot, I'll either have to go buy that Feb. issue or just subscribe!

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

Hang on! ;-)

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Maybe we could have a back order co-op. LOL

I'll be happy to pass mine along when I finish with it.

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

"a back order co-op" LOL! Or a lending library..... Or a reading material trade swap and give-away thread....

Sue, you have D mail. ;-)

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Yeah, the greenhouse on the back cover caught my husband's eye when he brought in the mail...asked if he needed to mark off a spot out back for it. (I told him that I didn't have that much Windex)

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

You can put it in my yard!

I got my copy a couple days ago, and the greenhouse on the back was the first thing that caught my eye, too. When Trish saw it, she said, "Oh! Is this the greenhouse you're planning to build for me?" ^_^

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I'd move my furniture out there and never go back into my house.

Dave, can you get them to do a contest with a greenhouse for a prize? Just for DG subscribers? ;-D

Wow, that would be very nice. :)

Yes indeed! I don't usually enter contests...but I would run a mile and jump through hoops for that "greenhouse!" ;0)

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

I've already started dreaming of all the winter produce I could take to the food pantry, and people with that winter sunlight disorder could come sit in it, perhaps a small prayer/meditation corner, wonderful flowers with a heavenly perfume....oh, and a hot tub.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I hadn't seen the page page yet, but wow! Wouldn't that be nice!

I just took it out and showed my husband and he said he's pretty sure that greenhouse would cost more to build than our house did. I wonder....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Mine came today! Yayy! Wow, if we won that greenhouse, we would have to install bathrooms and bedrooms and a kitchen in it, cuz the only way it would fit on our city lot is if our house left. LOL

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am so sorry I missed out on this offer. I used to subscribe and it is a wonderful magazine. I also used to take Garden Gate.............

Fresno, CA(Zone 9b)

Eeeeeww, I love the little one on the left at the bottom. Sweet little place, hiding in a corner of the yard.

Linda
