the only one that managed to survive till now...
A garden in progress...the Fall version...
even decaf??? the slugs won't know the difference!!!!
It was probably the caffeine. Try de-caf. Great shots, Kass. Except for the brown mush...
Beautiful Kass!!
thanks! I love pics... don't know what I would do with out it!!!
there are so many succulents that catch my eye... we picked up a few this year... they are all pretty neat
very nice Kassia
Kassia:
Gorgeous pics! Let me know if you ever do a garden tour...I'd hit the Pike for that!
I notice you have a lot of lavender/purple tone roses. I'd like to get some more in that color range for our Zone. So far all my stuff is red/pink/yellow/apricot. Do you have any favorites you'd recommend for us Northerers?
M
Kass, there are some sedum and sempervivums that can stay outside. I love the little hens and chicks close to my walkways.
Miles, feel free to call me and tell me when you can come... my garden is always open to my DG friends!!!!
I love purple so that's why I have so many... I love Blue Girl, Rhapsody in Blue, Purple Passion, and the Simplicity Lavender (even if they don't have any smell!!!)
Kassia:
Thanks for the invite, I'll take you up on that at some point. And great suggestions for roses. I'll add them to my wish list. I'm reading Graham Thomas right now and he talks about the lack of purples in modern roses so I got to thinking about it and how cool it would be to get some.
Miles
WOW Thats really great.
Miles, you wouldn't believe the changes at Kassia's. She went from almost no garden at all to practically a rosarium in 2 years. It's amazing. She's amazing.
Kass, your 'Fragrant Plum' still calls to me. It obviously made it through the winter ok. I think I will have to get one. The 'purple' section of my rose garden is looking sad. 'Ebb Tide' is about 6" tall. 'Wild Blue Yonder' is still blooming, but not in great shape. I think I only had a total of 3-4 blooms on 'Angel Face' this year. and I lost 'Shocking Blue' to the winter.
I just love all of your succulents. I'm much too lazy to take mine in, so I only plant hardy ones.
Here's one view of Kassia's yard when her gardens were just a dream. her house is off to the left. (hope you don't mind Kass, just a reminder of how far you have come)
Thanks Nancy...
Jan! It's hard to believe it was like that... lol... goodness gracious... it was so empty!!!! no I don't mind... it was a crazy but an exciting adventure... lol...
Fragrant Plum is really something... really smells different right now in the fall... actually St Cecilia and Sharifa Asma have a distint smell right now also... a hint of clover... really strong... really great...
Miles, you are more likelly to think that I am totally crazy... and you would be right... lol...
Jan, Angel Face did not do well for me either... Fragrant Plum did great but black spot just took all the leaves! I trully think Purple is the hardest to have... Royal Amethyst still naked... it did ok... but the best one I would say it was Blue Girl... really a great color... actually the cool weather seems to bring more blue tones... don't know...
In terms of succulents - hens and chicks and the sedums I got did really well... I got so amazed at those succulents when I went to visit Zuzu... specially in a place called Lone Pines... oh my goodness the variety was amazing... and in a nursery in Petaluma I saw one of the most amazing succulent container that I totally feel in love it! my goal is to reproduce that arrangement next year... its really something... actually I have posted a picture once... really cool!

Wow, that is pretty spectacular Kassia, can I book my visit for June now ;-)
if anyone in the area knows how to build a pond let me know. Just got the quote from the landscaper 18k!! for 12x16...guess it is a home built pond for me!
Miles
Miles please come... June should really be great!!!!! oh I can't wait to see all the irises in May and the roses in June... they really should look great 2nd week of June...
Yeah, ponds are expensive...but I am sure if you do it is not 18K!!!!! goodness gracious... I can just imagine how many roses can you buy with that money!!!!!
love that planter Kassia
isn't that something Allison!???? I took pics of all angles... really pretty... actually everything at that nursery was just gorgeous!
Sounds very $$$, Miles. Get more quotes.
yeah, guy's designs are great...but not that great!
I started hiring some highschool kids to help remove sod and put in a patio...wonder how their hole digging skills are....if I get a couple of them going I could have a pond in a weekend!
Miles
Miles, get ideas from other folks from DG... I am sure there is a thread about it!!!!
Do you have a kit yet?
I saw Karen's ponds today... talk to her... they are really nice and she has a water lilly blooming... so pretty.... she may be able to help you...
Wow, Kassia......I am just shocked that anyone could say one negative thing about your spectacular gardens! We were all looking around with our mouths hanging open at each and every part of your garden at your RU in June. I just can't imagine how they will look next spring when your new DLs and Iris's all in bloom along with the roses, etc. Simply gorgeous, I'll predict!!
Louise
oh Louise, it happens... my family just wants things ready and perfectly looking. I don't mind waiting for plants to grow... so next year I will say that the roses should really look great but to all look really great will take at least another 2 years... so if all goes ok and I am alive by 2011 my garden should really look spectacular... so let's see what happens!
I just saw how Karen plants all her irises today... I have some replanting to do... she has tons of room to grow her gardens... really cool... really gorgeous looking hostas... never saw anything that big...
Kassia you have so many different variety of plants - everything looks so beautify and tidy....love your plants and gardens. Very refreshing to see these photo's! I can't wait to see your gardens in the spring!!!
Luv Dawn.
