Morning Hotties,
Welcome Joes, glad you found us. Join in the fun, we all grow lots of different plants some we’re leaning about and some we’ve grown for years, so if you have any questions we’ll try to help you out. I’d love to know what they had growing in Niagra, was it a Burg or a Datura?

Terri, Here is a link that will help with cutting the burgs and rooting over the winter. It is suppose to be so easy, some of us are going to try it with some of our burgs.

Wolfie, Hope you get some seeds off of that plant, I love some too. Louise, AuntB or Joyce might know where the seeds are, but if you don’t get an answer here soon try posting the question on the Morning Glory forum.

Joyce, Either on the 17 or 16 Cat had a good explanation for how to store the Caladiums that she got from someone. I need to go back and find it too; I have several I want to keep. Thanks for the Calla info I have lots of those in pots and I thought I had to dig them and dry them. Much easier if I can just put the pots in the basement.

Becky, take it easy there is no way you are going to clean up Texas in a day.

Karen hope you feel better soon, I also buy thing when I’m board or depressed. Buying plants always makes me feel better. In the winter I buy lots of flowering house plants to keep me happy until spring.

Clem, I’m a little better this morning, so many meds so not much sleep. I'm up but still not moving around much. I need to get outside and water those burggies, I’m hoping I can do it by this afternoon.

Morning to all, have a great day everyone.

werewolf1 that was good for a laugh. DH is staying home with me today and helping me out around here. He's already starting on the garage with all MY pot's and dirt and a big mess. First I had to explain I havent had my 2 pot's of coffee yet so he's going to have to just wait a bit till I get awake. I did have to ask him if this was going to be another one of those vacuum situation's. lol lol Oh lordy I better forget the coffee and get out there cause he's throwing EVERYTHING in my utility room. OMG!! I'll let ya know how this day goes. Just hope it's not another vacuum day. lol You all have a great Sunday!!

Flat Rock, MI

Thank's Donna I will read it after I get done cleaning later. DH is bringing what look's like the whole garage into my house. OMG!! Gotta find a spot for all this. lol

Heya hotties! Went to my sister in laws yesterday one of my nieces turned into a teenager yesterday. 13 and she is so excited. I told her don't be in such a hurry to grow up, enjoy your youth!
Wolfie have you tried hand pollinating? Maybe it is not getting pollinated properly. Also check really closely. Some of my tropical seed pods look just like flower buds. Especially on the black eyed susan vines.
Nadine!!! I am so glad you are ok, and so sorry about the damage! What a mess for you, you poor dear!
Donna still saying prayers you heal quickly!
Audrey, had both those tests before and they aren't too bad. The chemical stress test is not much fun but at least the worst part only lasts three minutes. The other parts aren't bad.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Welcome Joeswife!
Donna I have had great success letting the callas go dormant. Learned this cause I brought the pot in and tried to keep them growing, they looked really sad half way thru the winter and I quit watering and just sit them to the side and was going to use the pot the next sprint but didn't clean it out. Then early spring I was watering something else and water fell in the pot and shortly there after I had green. I did try to winter them over in the solar room which worked well except for the 10 million spider mites!
I will look for Cats suggestion, actually think I will email her.....
No help from DH bringing things in the new garden room yesterday, but that is the way I like it, otherwise I get lots of suggetions.....
DH did get all my cabinets in and the ceiling up so I am a happy Hottie! Started loading it up yesterday! He is gone now so I am going to start hauling plants in the house.....won't hear so much stuff! LOL

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Joyce buy a big jug of ortho home defense and spray it liberally in your new plant room every couple months and that will help keep the tiny critters down. I went two years with my sunroom just packed and no pest problems. This spring was the first time I had problems. I imported trouble lol.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Calla Lilies - overwintering I found two schools of thought.
Someone else's opinion:
In other areas, lift the bulbs before the first frost, clean off excess soil, let dry out of the direct sun for a few days, then store in a dry location that remains between 50 and 60 degrees F. Re-plant in spring after the soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed.
This is what I did by accident and someones else's opinion:
Potted you must allow it to go dormant that is, its leaves may die back and you don't want to water it except when the soil is completely dry and keep the pot in a cool place (not a warm place). The calla lily needs a couple of months in the winter to "rest" to store up energy for the next blooming season.
Third opinion:
They can be grown all year in the house......watch for spider mites!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Louise, thank you.
Think I will try that this year, cause that is where the brugs and ee's will be.
I don't like using things in the house. Last year they were all in the solar room which is attached to the front of the house without a way to close it off. I finally got so sick of it (soap wouldn't keep up) I stripped all the leaves off of the brugs (they were beautiful) and threw the callas in the garage, that is how I learned to overwinter the callas.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Ortho home defense is pyrethrin based and stabilized to last up to like four months. We have to use it twice a year in the house because the darn squirrels bring fleas into the yard and my rosie tracks them in. She has topspot but they still get in. Also we have the fall yucky spider invasion indoors.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

I like your way better Joyce, I don’t have anywhere in the house that stays between 50 and 60. I will stop watering and when they dry up I’ll put them in the basement.

someone asked about morning glory seeding? I have millions of them. spent the day in my back yard, dividing Helens Flowers and harvesting seeds of all kinds and cuttings, but I did not have the courage to cut or dig the big brug.. and the other two things I thought were brugs I have no idea if they are or are not.. here's pic, please tell me if u think is a brug..

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Doesn't look like a brug, but post it on the plant ID forum and the geniuses over there will tell you what it is. I wouldn't cut your brugs until the very last minute. go over to the number 19 thread. the link is up a ways in the postings.
