2nd Annual On-Line Workshop - Victorian Santa Pt. 2

Victoria Harbour, ON

As per your request, I'm starting a part 2 so it will make it easier to access

It was decided then that we should do a 2nd Annual Workshop...so here we are!!

No experience in crafting necessary...

How will it work?

Together we will choose a Sat. or Sun. where I will be able to sit close by the computer, taking pictures of each step..the Victorian Santa is very easy, honest...it's a project that anyone can do and follow...

How does one get the materials?

Last year I sent out supplies that wouldn't be easy to obtain and part of the materials had to be gathered by participants...same for this year..
individuals who participate will receive a 'kit' and also I am posting a list that you can be gathering up the items needed...

Your kit will include:

Was a good girl, honest, poured 4 faces last night and am off to pour another 4 while having coffee...takes a few days to cure..need more materials so will have to make a quick stop tonight...had about 6 left over from my visit to Judy's so nearing the numbers I need for this group but must continue pouring for my other workshops...

Time for work..no more playing 'christmas santa'...lol

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh this craft sounds like so much fun! Can hardly wait!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

guess I had better start looking for my supplies I need so I have them on hand when the time comes LOL

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm picking some up on each shopping trip. Just keep the list in my pocketbook. Need to find my glue gun and sticks so everything will be all together when craft time is here.

Glue guns are always wonderful to have, doesn't have to be a commercial one, just the smaller hand ones are fine...think I even saw glue sticks in the $$$$ store....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forgot to take a run into town tonight for more supplies, but did get 6 more Santa faces poured and with 8 from yesterday, I'm doing fine..now for them to dry a few days..guess I'll spend Mon./Tues. at work painting faces...lol

I love that corner your santa faces are setting up in, that's beautiful!

right hand side of my kitchen counter Crissy..I can decorate it, lol, because I don't do 'cooking'...stopping tonight to purchase more supplies, looking for horns, embelishments as well...

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Will have to learn how to group message...keep thinking how to make it fun, non stressful..thought once everyone has their material I can give them directions for the dress and cape and get that much done in time more suitable to your own schedule...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Betty, if you ever need to get everyones attention, you could do a group d-mail blast. Just list everyone that has signed up as your friends group for this project then one d-mail will be sent to everyone on the project. Just a thought if that's what you mean by group message for making announcements for start times etc.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is it but not exactly sure what you mean..will have to research it tomorrow...tks

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Is it possible to still sign-up for this?

Thanks!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes it is, would love to have you join us...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I remembered to take my supplies out of my car :o

Betty, what section of a fabric store or craft store would the craft wire be in? I can't seem to find it and the people who work at Jo-Ann's are a tad slow.

I bought
all of the styro balls
Liquid Thread I'm assuming is the same as Liquid Stitch
4 yards of gold metallic soutache braid
10 watt dual temp mini glue gun
mini glue sticks

I still need
cotton velveteen or velvet
lightweight craft wire

I'm way excited, I can't wait to take my finished product to work and show it off as my first craft of anything I have ever made!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty, hope you do give us directions for the dress/cape early. I've been sorting through my fabric and trims and am getting excited. I'd love to experiment ahead of time. Would cut now but don't know the diminsions.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

chrissy---
The wire would be where they have all the dried flower arranging supplies in--The "bricks" of Floral foam, wreath frames, etc....I imagine the Styrofoam balls would be in the same area! At least they are here......

Just ask!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Thanks!

The styro balls are next to the glue! LOL Already got those yesterday. The styro balls, glue gun, and glue was all in the same place. I don't get that but Ok...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Betty, my names not on the list :(

is there still room for me?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry, just added your name...for sure everyone is invited...pouring more santa's...lol

This weekend I'll do the part of the dress - full explanation so that as time progresses you will all be able to have the coat garb and cape done so it truly can be a NO stress day!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Awesome getting excited here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

The wire in my wal-mart is by all the beading supplies.
Linda Kay

Glenview, IL

Oh that would really Cool Betty, This way too I've an idea on the how big the added decorations should be.
LOL, for some reason I just can't seen to scale down what size they should be.

Crissy and all the first time Crafters, How exciting, I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

I think I am set with all my materials now.
Just got to concentrate on the decorations...

I bought a brand new glue gun too...Been meaning to for several years now so this will be the first project
to use it, woohoo, I am excited too.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I snuck out and broke a limb off the dead tree that fell for the staff! Hope I got it long enough! I'll make my robe as soon as I get demensions, too! I'm gonna sew mine!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Promise tonight or tomorrow I'll provide you all with more info...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Squirming in my seat ..... but happy!

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I would like to sign up! Thanks!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I've never even owned a glue gun before! That's exciting enough in itself!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, you can get into a lot of trouble with a glue gun. Now we got another crafter hooked for sure!!!
LOL
Watch out for the glue gun, thay can get really hot!!!

Linda Kay

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Touching the glue while it's still hot hurts too! Been there, done that a few times. Jerking hand back, hopping around with a long spider web of glue floating in the air .....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL

I think we have all been there, and it hurts so bad, then you spend the next few minutes cursing yourself, or the glue gun!!!

Linda Kay

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

oh dang and then sometimes you have to hold that little piece in there and the glue has its way of finding your finger OUCH

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Maybe we should use tweezers to hold tiny stuff in place . Can you just see the tweezers glued in place, too?

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

In all seriousness ..... I do use a floral pick to push silk stems, etc into hot glue but still manage to get it on my fingers. dang that stuff burns!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I don't think it is as bad as burning your arm wtih a curling iron though ...curling iron gives a blister glue gun is just hot for a few seconds LOL

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Amen, sistah!
