She's About To..........#16

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm here and it's the same as Becky's report. Looks like a war zone, trees broken down in my yard, lots of plants ruined and my garden archway covered in Passionflower vine is down on the ground but we are fine. It didn't really seem that bad when we were going through it, lots of rain and the wind would just sort of give a hard "gust" every now and then. What flower aren't broken off are drowned and laying on the ground. My entire yard is flooded with about 4 inches of water. I'm thankful first for my families safety, but I sure hate what it did to my yard. Oh well, there is nothing that won't grow back. We still have power, water and are full from a good early supper, thank God.

Edited to add: My one Brug twanger bud that was ready to open probably tomorrow was just found all the way on the other side of the house.......Wahhhhh! Oh well, at least the plant itself is intact!

What is it Kim? sure doesn't look friendly. That Dream Angel IS lovely and the CG gives me hope for mine.. MMmmm Peg, such a good cooker! Jaye, I understand yu are busy, please stop in a bit more often, even without such lovely pics.. we like you, too, not just your gorgeous brugmansia. lol How many shots, Louise?? I know about blue, blue is lavender or purple.. Sandy, I didn't do anything, maybe made fun of my moms popping knees when I was a kid... now she's getting mothers revenge... It's osteoarthritis, and now is the best they've felt in a couple years... I know I'll probably have to do replacements some day, but a friend told me about liquid pectin, like for making jelly. I've used it since April and it did as much as losing the weight did, so I'm feeling pretty spunky these days, but still don't dig or jump rope. I used it 2X a day for about six weeks at first, now I drink it in the morning... but you mix it with cranberry juice, not sure if it matters on the juice, but i put about 1-2 TB to 1/2 c. or so of juice, stir it up and drink it down with my vitamins.. I also take a vitamin to help rebuild joints.. it's worth a try and it's natural. My knees used to pop and crack, too, but I really noticed it when I traded cars and the seat sat differently, just enough to irritate the knees.. I'm really short, so I have to have the seat as far up as possible but they always seem to be at an angle where my knees are higher than my patootie.. I bought an old caddy and a wedge cushion for comfort, cause I'm a goer, well used to be before gas got so expensive and I drive at least 70 miles a day during the week.

Whew! Glad to hear about Becky, I was getting ready to try her cell. brb-(be right back) SO happy Beck and Keith are safe, the rest is just something to be dealt with.. their lives are THE most important. Looks to be a mess everywhere down there... poor people.

Heber Springs, AR

i'm new here ladies and this is my first post. i have a mind boggling story to tell that really shows the toughness of angel trumpets. year befo0re last i had 82 different anglke trumpet plants, different styles and different colors except red. well it took two hours every day to tend them but the results were worth it. but one year of this was all i could manage cuz i was 69 years old at the time. so when frost killed the plants, i placed them behind the barn and more or less forgot them. i paid them no attention last year (i suffered from severe depression) and thought all were dead. but this spring wife and i were strolling down behind the barn and she noticed that one was peeping its head out. i couldn't believe it. we dug out what was trying to survive (5) and took them up to the house. all r living and doing great. two are blooming and i hope the other three do to. if i can find a pic of them, i will post it to show.

Heber Springs, AR

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Glad to hear good news of our Hotties!! Plants can be replaced : ) Waving hi to Werewolf!!! AuntB dunno what that critter is but I don't like him!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

:) I'll read it werewolf, I read them all- well almost.. I think I'm caught up.. do get too far ahead of me now... I have afflictions, girl. lol :)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Well, I'm sittin here all red-faced! Werewolf1. I INDEED did love your story! And please accept my apology with your gender... just isn't too many men even want to fess up to lurking here, let alone join us. There may have been one or two that tried to keep up... sometimes we HAVE to skim over.. I imagined them behind a barn where I grew up. I can only imagine the smiles of delight from you and Mrs Werewolf1's! How utterly amazing... they are some tough brugs you have there.. I'm going to look at the pick again... I love the nodders.. And the smell?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

JUST GAWDOUS! Such a bloomer!! I hope you are better, that isn't something they can just prescribe a pill for.....but I'd be depressed too, if I couldn't fuss with my brugs during the winter... but I do understand sometimes you JUST have to let things go and take care of YOU. All that stuff isn't as important and being there for those we love... and sometimes you can't find people to help you do want you can't do yourself... My flowers and the hotties here are my therapy... I'm happy to see you've become interested in them again.. want a different color? Maybe a pendulous bloomer??? do you want help to keep a pod ON the brug in winter (as to allow it to ripen)?

Heber Springs, AR

AuntB, i'm rerally getting back into it now. i have recieved many seeds off of ebay and several colors. i recieved a new plant the other day that just blew my mind. it was a royal blue lochroma, the picture that was shown blew my mind. veryyyyy royal blew and a very good flush. hope i can over winter it. my number one question is, HOW IS THE BEST WAY TO OVER WINTER SEEDS?? some one please tell me.

Heber Springs, AR

btw ladies, i am all man, i just like flowers.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Werewolf, and welcome! I saw that royal blue lochroma just now on Ebay and there is a fiery red one too. Smaller than Brugs, a cousin or something.

Are your Brugs in pots then? What zone are you in? You might be able to ground plant and cut back in the winter in the future to avoid losing them. Good to have you with us, Karen

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Well I'm sittin here just green with envy on your iochroma, I tried starting some from seeds a guy had in Poland, but nothing showed for about a year and I finally gave up.. prolly bad to start with.. but he sent lots of stuff, still have some.. for red cardinal vine.. he wanted seed for it.. a canna grower but loved vines. Okay now Wolf, surely one of us, knows that answer for SURE.. Kimbob- Lily_love keeps seeds I believe. I've kept them in a coffee can (plastic, not really a can, anymore) in the bottom drawer of the frig. Don't know if I did it right, but I did get some germination that next January..got them in the summer and started in Jan.

Karen!!!! ((((HUGS))))))) I'm sure sorry to hear about your yard... you have a very good attitude about it, but I'd be mad. The greenery and blooms will return.., Found your bloom clear on the other side of the yard... I'm sorry.. Werewolf just told us his wonderful "brugs just have the will to survive story" anything can happen. Samantha may twitch her nose at your place.. okay well, gravity... and a calmer weather pattern. Hope it's bearable.
