Fall Planting, so what's on your list?

Try the poppy forum too Karen.
Your yellows are sweet.

Shoot, Karen. I very efficiently cut them all to the ground. Sorry no seeds. :(

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I just seeded california poppies for the first time early this spring so I don't know if they will reseed for me or not. This one I'm hoping self seeds for me. It was a surprise in one of the mixes I ordered.

Dahlianut, That is a great one. Never have seen it before. Patti

Love it, Dahlianut! Is it a variety of California poppy, do you think, or some other kind that accidentally got mixed in with them?

Now that I look at it again I think it might have got mixed in with single lilac somniferum seed that I got from my buddy Joe the Poppy King. I'm going to ask him to identify it (and he is going to shoot me for not collecting seed from it so if I disappear......) Here's Joe's pics from this year. http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/ff134/blaamand/Poppies%202008/?start=0

The center of the flower doesn't look like a california poppy. Mine reseed every year so far since I planted them. I am curious to see if the other poppies reseed.

I wasn't taking notes on the Zones. Would poppies re-seed in Zone 5?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

So far somniferum, lacinata and paeoniflorum that I've tried self-seed in my zone, except 'Ladybird' and 'Flemish Antique'. 'Ladybird' is sporatic. This year I had a couple of nice clusters but alot of years nothing. 'Flemish Antique' has never self-seeded for me sigh.

I don't have poppies, but I will look for seeds next year to plant. Thanks for the info. It is much appreciated.

dahlianut, Joe's pictures are amazing. Thanks for the link, Patti

I have some news on the mystery poppy. Apparently a 'Danesborg Laced/Danish Flag' reverted to that in its second year in a local garden http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31965/ How funky weird is that! I got my Danesborg Laced seed from a mom and pop supplier and they are in that patch. I wonder if I got an older seed in the batch? Haven't heard from Joe yet.

Snowdrop bulbs just went into the garden.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I have tons of snowdrops here. They are so pretty. Hey, anyone want some snowdrops bulbs for postage? I have lots to share. I could do about 40 per package, and I could probably send out about 4 packages this coming Monday. If anyone is interested, please D-Mail me.

Karen

Here is a picture of snowdrops in my garden.
