Have you all ever seen crazy quilts? Nothing is uniform about this quilt when making it. No rules, no guidelines, nothing traditional. All the components used to make this quilt don't match, sometimes jarred against each other, and beat all logic or the esthetic of any individual.
But when assembled, this crazy patchwork of different characteristics ... all of a sudden seem to blend and turn into one beautiful unique quilt.
That's what I see this group as. One big living crazy quilt!!

Well, Don is well fed and horizontal in the bedroom watching something boring so he can get to sleep... so, I think I'll join him and maybe get some cuddle time in.

Lord have mercy on me! Y'all just go flying through rooms. three rooms behind on reading. And all these great recipes, and photos!

just to keep y'all apprized - I'm alive and well, well, no, actually been feeling punk all day. The convertible is dead, going on craigslist in a moment or two. DH and I worked on the #s, and it actually works out better for us if we have a car payment than it does if we try to fix it again. I have a little cash because the IRS did give mine back, but they've screwed up my credit. DH is out of cash because he's paying them, but he credit was still good because he's cooperating with them. between us it was doable.

So I'm now officially an avid gardener. My first ever 5 year old pickup truck (little older one I could afford that didn't yet have 200,000 miles on it!) is now in the driveway, with a clean bill of health from the mechanic. It's got working A/C!! yippee! But we had to hussle to insure it....

Hannah arrived with first spinkles as we drove off the lot. Spent afternoon helping 88 yr old dad put aluminum flashing covers on his old Airstream's windows. battened down our yard for flying objects in pouring rain.

how did foot operation go?

have party goers gotten on the scales yet? (yeah, devil made me say that!) JUST LOOKING at all those goodies had me gain 10 pounds.

I'm beat. rain on the roof sounds so inviting, my bed is calling.

Well, Don fell asleep in about 5 mins of his head hitting the pillow. I turned the TV off, and couldn't fall asleep... so, here I am again.

Bonnie... I'm so glad you now have dependable transportation... you be careful of that storm... try to get some rest if Hanna's not making too much noise to sleep.

Just popped in to say nite all figured everyone had hit the sack I just finished pinning the hem in place and will sew it in the morning.
Saying extra prayers tonight for jaye and bonnie for safety and anyone else in the path of hanna.

OH I know all y'all are gonna shot me for this but I have to share this and if it helps any I laughed so hard I almost had a wet chair just picturing one of us really doing this.

New Diet

Yesterday I was at Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet Angel the Wonder Dog and was in the checkout line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had an elephant?
So since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that
no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again.
I added that I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry.
The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me.
I told her no; I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's ass and a car hit us both. I thought the guy behind her was
going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

Wal-Mart won't let me shop there anymore.

Better watch what you ask retired people, they have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say!


How To Install A Home Security System In The South

Yup, they're a great bunch, I love em all and they deserve to start (and end) the day with a smile.

My DS has started working here weekends. He is still living in Seattle until the end of the month so he is staying with us on weekends. He and my DH have been watching Larry King and discussing politics so there is no chance of going to sleep until they finish "discussing"! I'm not gettin in the middle of that...LOL!

I'm still getting to know everyone but I do have to agree they are a great bunch !!

When Laura was about 14-15 she was asked a politically charged question at a get together with my mother, elderly aunts and some of their friends...said she really didn't know enough about it to say anything,.....later she told "I'm sorry mom but no matter what I said SOMEBODY was going to be mad at me !! That's me so I just stay out of it all!!

I get tired of hearing all the bashing they do on each other trying to make one like bad so I don't even watch it on tv. we are all human and we all make mistakes.

I'm sorry Trish but the benadryl I took is kicking in so I think I better go before it takes me forever to post ..make to many typos to correct when when I can't stop yawning now.
have to try and get some sleep before it wears of and my feet start to swell and itch again from fire ant bites..guess I need to stop wearing my scandals when I go out in the garden LOL

fire ants are one thing I don't miss from living down there.......

I have to drive to Oregon for a funeral in the morning so I should shut these guys up and turn in for the night, they have early morning obligations tomorrow also and none of us are going to want to get up. Morning Glory!

no Sistahs up yet? I'm first one for today? Been pouring cats and hounddogs all night, keeping me awake. Every time I'd just about get my eyes closed, something outside would go bump or the rain would ratchet up a notch. haven't slept a wink. Hannah is making NC all nice and soggy. 'round 4 am, Randall discovered I'd been using one of those huge aluminum foil baking pans that I use under cups with seedlings. I'd moved the seedlings, forgotten the pan, the wind had dumped it upside down, and the rain was literally drumming on it, rat-a-tat-tat, all right outside our bedroom window. now don't I feel foolish!

a moment ago, it go so dead quiet it startled me up.

it is in the sewing and quilting forum. I have to admit it was a struggle on them blocks but I think we came out ok.

I will be checking mail today, we did yesterday as mom was expecting a check in the mail, she got it and I got a quilting block from one of my quilting buddies. Today is the day. I will probably take a pic up at moms and post from her account, she has AOL and I hate to use it. I do not like her computer at all.
