Spirit of this swap:
This is actually an easy swap for ALL of us here. We know each other prettttttyyyy goood (a la Larry David) .. so there should be no problems at all in coming up with that 'special' ringing in 2009 gift for any of us. And if we don't, there's plenty of time to do so
It doesn't have to be restricted to crafts, can be anything .. that plant you know which will grace your buddy's garden and bring a smile when it starts blooming .. or even a jar of very much sought after preserves that will delight your sistah in the mornings or at tea time.
Not seeking commercial nor monetary value on the gift.
Just a gift that says: "I am glad you are my Sistah and with this, I wish you the best for 2009".
NOTE: You don't have to join the swap to enjoy this thread.
This here is a pic of some of our Sistahs that made it to Sis Kathy's home and that famous fried turkey.
Borrowed it from Deborah :D

♥Sweet Interruption♥ 20
I'll be reporting when I can. Seems Hanna's drifting towards Charleston, and that might mean we'll be right in the middle of it.
Taking Marion and Deb's advice..rocks and cement blocks tied to my feet!! Lolol!!
Darn I tried to eat ya in but you got it first LOL
make sure those bricks are dang heavy girl
anyone here have a pond in their yard?
I think I have a small snake in mine and want it out ..do not like snakes
the 2 koi are fine and there are tadpoles swimmin around but if that is a snake it has to go
This message was edited Sep 5, 2008 11:50 AM
I have a fishing pond and snakes live there too. Part of the ecosystem. But, if I had a manmade Koi pond, yep, the snake has to go! In that small of an enclosure, the Koi is snake food.
I desperately want a pond, but do not have one currently:(
Stacey.. you done outdid yourself again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mailman hand carried the box to the house...normally he drop everything at the shop. But he saw my name, and knew it's not for Kel :D
Thank you sweetie.. I wuv you over and over again... too cute..
Will post the pic on Critters.
Just checking in to keep the thread on my watch list... now, I'm back to the kitchen cabinets.
Had to call the exterminator... haven't seen them critters, but I did find their leavings... sheesh... I won't sleep till they come next Tuesday now... makes me shudder.
Try some borax BJ--it really does work!!
Jaye, that is a block for each foot dear. Wese needs you.
I sure did like what the weather channel was saying the last time I checked on Ike. Possibly go into Gulf--No, go away, we don't like you. Just plain not welcome!!!
Seriously, Jaye you and Kel be safe and don't take any chances.
Larry pulled a task strip out of the jar for me. Clean Stove. Well, I've taken all the eye rings off and lifted up the top, strayed Greased lightning all over. Now just waiting for it to melt the crud. Called the appliance center where I purchased it and ordered a repairman to come and fix the oven. He'll be here on Tues. Been putting that off. The oven has a mind of it's on and will turn itself off. Must be a bad thermostat. Now see, I have been proscrastinating scouring that stove and getting the oven seen about. Without the Betty Task Jar I may have had a terrible time cooking Thanksgiving dinner.
LOL... Tuesday is going to be a big day for both us us Deborah... I called an exterminator today and he's coming Tuesday also... all because of Betty's To Do jar...
I've been doing my own exterminating around here... but apparently haven't done good enough job ... or I wouldn't have found the droppings I did today.
Marion, my mom used to use Borax and Bacon Grease... I just can't bring myself to have all those jar lids and tin foil cups tucked everywhere... but, I might resort to that if I see anything else.
I just spinkle a vew fine line of borax and it is working. Especially with all the rains, the outside beasties have decided to move indoors.
Well, I wonder if I need one for mice? I have a cat but I'm too afraid she'd mouthed a poisoned one. Now I have thought that a dead mouse might be the cause of why my oven isn't working properly. OOOUUWEEE, a baked mouse. I haven't smelled anything like that though. Oh please. Now I'm going in there and pulling the whole stove out from the wall and take a look see. Good Grief. Done got me paranoid, BJ!
Hi Everyone!
Thought i better come say hello.
Sorry to hear of the illnessess. will keep you all in my prayers.
Congratulations on the new baby!
I am sort missing something on the Caps.
But my goodness what a Beautiful neice you have on the utube.
Brought me to tears.
Jaye, my gosh, you be careful out there taking cuttings. Yikes!
LOL, Ive been being busy trying to keep busy, lol "sneaking" in DG time at work...This is for the birds, Lunch time i figure i can spend reading and playing catch up.
Have a good afternoon all.
Jaye ....whatcha ya get?? uh uh uh uh??????? LOL
BJ, have you ever tried those electronic pest repellers? They work, I promise! We have huge wolf spiders in our garage that scare the beejeebees out of me. Lots of other spiders, too, including black widows (have never seen them in garage thank goodness) and other creepy critters. DH had mice in his shop. We started using them and no spiders or mice! We use the Black & Decker brand that come two to a package from Home Depot. Just plug 'em in!
Deborah, surely you would have smelled it if a mouse died in or behind your oven. Are you really pulling it out? ha! I'm betting on your first theory - bad thermostat.
Jaye, stay safe. Batten down those hatches and don't take any chances. Report in if possible - you know how we worry.
I have not made my task jar yet, i am scared. My house needs a MAJOR Fall cleaning. I might kick the guys out sometime soon and daughter and I get to it.
I am glad you posted that Debra as I have often wondered how effective they were. Going to HD tonight just might acquire some.
Hope they work as well for you, Marion, after that glowing endorsement. Be sure to read the directions about placement. Probably does make a difference.
Tia, what I like about this task jar is being able to focus on one major task for today. Other major projects will have to wait until it's pulled out of the jar. Makes so much sense. Simply the best way to keep from multitasking some many jobs at one time & not getting anything throroughly cleaned or finished.
Is it a sonic sound that deters them? I need several for the house and the workshop.
yea but I am the worlds worst housekeeper. And I am afraid I will not put what really needs done in the jar, maybe have hubby (OMG am I insane) make up the papers. I will be scrubbing ceilings.
Don't have a lot of time to respond to all individually, I have laundry and a lot errands today, have to go to Portland Oregon for a funeral tomorrow (My DB's FIL).......so just know for all of the ill's, storms and everything else our prayers are with you all, take care and stay safe.
I'll ask Don about those "sonic" things... I"ve heard of them, but Don usually has something to say about that stuff.... specially if I try it, and it doesn't work...
Right now, I think I just need a good old fashioned extermination guy to spray inside and out... then, maybe I'll think of something else to put out.
Spiders... oh, my... the spiders we get around the lake is terrifying... I spray the house every 3 months, and about 5' away from the house, and still get spiders everywhere. I'm going to try the exterminating plan where they come every 2-3 months and see if they do any better... if not after a year... I'll go back to doing it myself.
Trisha, be safe on your trip. Understand about all the laundry--I think mine multiplies at night.
This sounds like so much fun! Let me in, let me in...This will be a wonderful way to greet the new year. The only problem is that I will have to get on more so that I can learn as much as possible about my "buddy".
Betty, how you can do as much as you do and still have time to post is beyond me. You must never sleep or just be fast! I do know you are an organized person and that helps but still....
LK, post your surprise from Stacey over here pleassssssse... Lol..and you're always the one reminding us of a new room!!
Janice, welcome and I always say, a family that toots together...
Hello Ladies,
I just watched the cuttie Josh Turner in concert, now Trace Adkins. Let me tell ya that man is my kinda guy uummmmm!!!!!
I'm just now getting started on my cute critter and some of you are getting yours. Am I pokie or are you guys fast?
Seen Trace Darrel Adkins when he performed in Lafayette, Louisiana.. you're right Cindy, he's something....
You're normal, according to the swappers' guide..
This is a concert in Hickory Hill Lakes, Ohio Country Concert 2008, it's on directv 101
There's a GUIDE?... really? like a manual? SHEESH... I never know the rules...
Just kidding... I know there's no "guide"...
uh....
Right?
there's not, is there?
Yes there is a guide, BJ!!
We're the swappers right?? So accordingly to our own guide-dom!!
Sheeeeeeeeeeeshhh....
BTW, I'm repurposing a mayo jar to hold my coins. I'd be ready for a game of Texas Hold up!!!

Trace Adkins middle name is Darrel? Oh YUK!!
mmmmm I like both of those guys .....but haven't been to any concerts in years LOL
and what is this about a guide and cute critters please enlighten me if these are things I need to know and be doing LOL
BJ have you tried using some stuff you dissolve in water and spray with called Demon we used it last year around September sometime after I made connections wtih a scorpion in the house and are just now starting to have little spiders show up ...you can use it inside and out
RESEARCH
A man doing market research knocked on a door and was greeted by a young
woman with three small children running around at her feet.
He says, "I'm doing some research for Vaseline. Have you ever used the
product?"
She says, "Yes. My husband and I use it all the time."
"And if you don't mind me asking, what do you use it for?"
"We use it for sex."
The researcher was a little taken back.
"Usually people lie to me and say that they use it on a child's bicycle
chain or to help with a gate hinge. But, in fact, we know that most
people
do use it for sex. I admire you for your honesty. Since you've been
frank so
far, can you tell me exactly how you use it for sex?"
The woman says, "I don't mind telling you at all. My husband and I put
it on
the door knob. It keeps the kids out."
LOL... too funny....
Well, Phyllis... I've been using Demon II for 3 years now, since we moved into this house... and up until recently I haven't seen any sign of a bug inside my house... it seems to kill the spiders on the house spinning webs when I spray, but then after a rain, they start building webs under the eaves again... Demon II doesn't seem to effect the hornets nests, bee hives, or any of those things... I really want the hornets & mud dobbers gone, because I'll never get butterflies here until I do... I just learned that from Deborah.
I'm basically just tired of messing with doing my own spraying... so, I'm calling in the big guns.
Funny, Phillis. You a mess LOL
Jaye, coins? You best be putting $5 bucks at a time in that jar. Oh yea, BJ don't play! She's a tournament Poker player.
And I'm not any good at it but I know it's not called Texas Hold Up. LOL I forget the name but it ain't that. It's sumptin like Texas Hold'em Up and there's a river in it.
I'm laughing so hard I can't type.
And there's flops and turns and blinds... and buttons...
Hmm, thanks for the warning Deborah. I'll use my coins for a good slab of Texas BBQ brisket then.
So, y'all really got hold up by Texas BJ!!
We'll play a round of Old Maid then :P
