Wha...You'd be doing great at at 15 mi. for any age of cross country skiing to that spot! I've always downhill skiied since shortly after walking. Tried cross country a few times and thought I was going to die. But, once you've skiied in there, there's a great place to camp a night or two. I love that last sunflower. I through seeds out this year that were supposed to resemble that. Not sure wht happened to them though.
Brook, that's a beautiful lilly, I agree... very sad.
Thanks for the info Wny, I will have to hunt around and see if I can find some potting "soiless" like that. yours definitely look healthy
What kind of echinacea is that Bill?
I wondered if that was a pic of the "Sisters". I was just out in Portland area. My DDIL's sister lives out in Redmond. They would love for us to all move out there some day. It is beautiful country. It just amazes me that there are so many different growing regions from rain forest to high desert in OR.
I appreciate all the pics. They are lovely.

Very nice pics this afternoon!
Wow Jan! great memory for details. Especially for not being able to see all of the "sisters". You even remembered that the locals call it the "high desert" and not just central Oregon. The Redmond and Sisters area is some beautiful country, vast horizons and skylines. I'm more partial to the temperate weather of the west side to live, but I love visiting, hiking, and camping there, Or being up on a high perch and looking at it! what all did you get to see while you there? (or at least it sounds like you were there) It's actually sort of hard to see anything other than the three sisters since they are so close.
Pixie, that flower that you call five spot.... is that a morning glory as well? It's cute.

Pixie, you still have so many wonderful blooms. Very jealous of DL 'Stack the Deck' and 'Larry Grace' and that great cone flower 'Green Jewel'. I looked it up in PF and see it is a patented plant. Doubt I will run into it here, plus I flunk at CF every year.
and I love Wha's 'Dwarf honey bear' I also flunked sunflowers this year. Patti
RC, not a MG.....Nemophila maculata http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/234/, I grow Five Spot and this one called 'Baby Blue Eyes'
