Checking in and saying good night. Great story Louise, you got me laughing. I’m sure it was an exhausting workout of a day though.
Have a great one everybody.
She's About to....... #12
LOL Louise and more stories to come!
The pies are cooling and the cake is finished yay!!! The rest will get done in the morning.
Yes Clemen them babies are in tiny pots with catus mix they are soo cute!!
Thanks for the giggle Louise : }
Hey, all II can't sleep, and just got back on.
Posey, have you looked at the plant directory? There are at least three different plant genuses (sp) listed under "loosestrife". That usually means they are from different families. Unless the plant directory has them mislabeled. What really made me question what you had was the fact some of them have been hybridized. I would check there first before I pulled that plant and get a second opinion.
Louise, I know you're tired after your animal kingdom ordeal, but the story was cute!
Aunt B, we have just finished our first flush on the 10 mater plants. We eat them sliced, and I make fresh salsa (in the blender), but I quit canning a long time ago. Keith makes a bacon, mater and okra omelet to die for. Louise told me about freezing them, which I have not tried. But what is left over, we gift. It is so much fun to give people fresh tomatoes! When they flush, we are picking a colandar full every day. After the flush, we usually have one or two a day until October, but once we had off the vine for Christmas dinner. I can't tell you how, he does the veggies and I do flowers.
Talk to ya'll later. I cannot believe I cannot sleep tonight. Lov, Peg
Ya'll are just soo cute.. pies.. cakes.. maters... I thought I was full.. BUT now ya'll are making me have the nibbles..lol
Louise.. I can only imagine what you go through!! Do you muzzle the dogs and cats?? Or sedate them?? I have heard of both.. but I would be sceered to do what you do!!..lol... I bet DH was tired after all that..
Phyllis.... I wouldn't mind a 52 night, but not liking the cold...brrrr.. I like my days a lil warmer.. I think we were at 93 today.. and HUMID!!
Night all you early birds!!
Since I am on vacation I am still up, but I am all alone...LOL
Dogs and DH went to bed...funny thing when I have to get up at 4:30 no ones goes to bed until midnight.
Lots of lighting no rain.....dang.
same here Joyce, we had a storm yesterday and the day before and just spit for rain. We are dry dry dry here no real rain since early July.
Considering the first part of summer was rain every 3 days.
Some parts of the city got rain, but we sure didn't. Poor little plants.
Oh AuntB, I know you weren't begging....LOL...but a lass all my hard begging was for not...LOL, darn now I know why people liked that Loosestrife stuff. Too bad, I have read lots of information about it. We have a lake at the end of our property wouldn't be a good thing to have around here. Those silly birds can carry things for miles seems like.
Well, really need to go clean house for a little while, have a friend coming next weekend.
Morning Hotties! Will comment on last night's posts later this a.m., had to check the weather radar.... Cassie's Curls and Antique lace spent the night inside and all except the 25gal tub brugs, were laid down, looked real sad, let me tell you. lol But only thunder and lightening last night, too... :( Mel watered hosta beds and hydrangea yesterday.... now to stand brugs back up and get myself showered and to work (will be late today)... TGIF my Hottie friends!
Hi Joyce, cleaning??? on vacation???? this early??? Joyce! Shame on you! lol
Lav,too funny! We want Video☺
IPhyllis, How in the world did you kill that loosestrife? Some of the sites I went to would, I'm sure, like to know your secret weapon☺
Peg,At those sites I visited, one of them brought me back to plantfiles here and it is a dead ringer for this noxious plant. Even if they are different geneses, all are considered noxious, some worse than others. I feel I proved it to myself by observing its prolific nature and the Water Hibiscus I had planted with it just disappeared after 2 years. I am feeling truly sad about this plant because it was beautiful. I had it growing in my bog too, coming right up out of the middle of the Bull Rushes. It added so much beauty to the Rushes.
Wisconsin has banned any kind of loosestrife and has a stiff fine for cultivating and growing any varieties. Maryland is really having big problems and conservation groups are asking everyone everywhere in every State to help eradicate it by destroying it in their yards and growing it no more. It's really too bad because it is a herb as well, darn!
I am not a happy camper this am. Cleaning is not on my fun list to do, but I have put my friend off all summer, she is going to think I am completely nuts, actually she should already know that. Next weekend is first Friday in the Art District in Kansas City and Saturday is an art show sale in Westport. So no gardening for me except maybe Sunday next week.
I have spider mites on some of my ee's dang....
DH worked on my ceiling yesterday, it isn't gonna be long and it will be done, maybe by the end of the holiday, hope
Joyce mine had it this year too. I wish I was one of those people who really loved to clean! I don't hate it, but I don't enjoy it either lol. With summer and so much to do, it isn't frequent enough either! I have company monday so I am in the same boat.

Hi Phyllis! Glad to see you posting. Louise, sounds like a full day to me. Hope they have you groom them again sooner and it will be more tolerable for you and the pets.. Sounds like a FULL day... funny bout DH. lol Lu, thanks for all the research and helpful info, I'll still have some cuttings for you. :) Now, Water Hibiscus? I didn't know there was one... are you talking about water hyacinth? Those are gorgeous... My mini didn't fare well but here's a pic of a friends, last year..
I need a plant products storage room or something.. (a greenhouse, maybe? NO, Peg and Becky, I haven't made it back over there to check on the big metal frame, :( I have a "stash" of gardening stuff in front of the French doors and a stash of "stuff" in a corner, it's ridiculous! lol I don't spend much time inside so I guess once I'm "shut in" I'll do something about it. Cleaning always leads to deeper cleaning and then I'm totally involved in one area and it looks like I didn't accomplish anything. Joyce, I'm potting up MW to a "tub" this weekend! (even tho she's FULLY loaded with buds and a few unfurling! She's just too top heavy... I love her lust for life, she's been my best bloom producer all summer! I'll try to find a couple "broken" bags of MG at Wally's or Lowe's for 1/2 price, I've bought more new "dirt" this year than last, but I hope to pot up a bunch of the "teenagers" this weekend, too, to the biggest nursery pots I have... Alex, my selfish bloomer, (had him for 3 or 4 years, 3 blooms in the basement last winter is ALL I've seen) has roots coming out the bottom, so he's getting it, too and a good meal for all of them. I too haven't fed them like I should this month, but some food is better than none. I've been kinda busy. The brugs that I Iaid down last night ALL had their tips bent up from reaching to the sky, honestly, they didn't have any sun hitting them, it was dark by the time I got them all down and I picked them up as the sun was just brightening the sky this morning, I think they'll straightened out once the sun came up... My purple dats about a foot and a half tall were the worst, sure makes them look weird... but it's a must to lay them down, I've got first buds on so many brugs and I think the dats are about to produce buds, too! My sis is coming over this weekend sometime, I hope to be able to sit outside, light the torches and chiminea and a nice bottle of wine... and a chair to park me in. All in the lovely sweet scent of Versi and who ever else decides to grace me with blooms. A celebration of sorts, for my best brug blooming weekend yet this season! Pics will be taken (of the blooms, not me parked in a chair getting sleepy from wine! lol)
AuntB, that sounds so nice, back yard, blooms sending out that beautiful scent, a botlle of wine, and cushy chairs...
You have an extra chair, or should I bring my own??? LOL
Just think of us when your sniffing the blooms.
Linda Kay
AuntB are those Tropical Hibs you keep showing...
Their georgous...
Today it's overcast and about 60..alittle better then yesterday
About the loosestrife..dunno want I did it grew for two years and then disappeared..
Maybe it didn't like my soil or the partial shade..LOL
Here's what I did yesterday morning...
My sweetest flower...
Just getting to GM's...
Oh, Posey. I was so hoping we could save your plant. It is beautiful. But the verdict is in.
AuntB, save me a chair. I'll bring my own glass and some fingerfoods. Enjoy it lady!
Happ, I can't imagine spider mites on EEs. Haven't had that problem yet, knock on wood. Housework?? I know I am very behind on housekeeping. I started this week trying to catch up, but it is going to take awhile. When company comes, we just stay out in the yard. We have an outside bathroom, so I can keep everybody out of the house!
Fay, thoughts and prayers for you and DH this morning! ((:))
Audrey, let me know when you get your package. I am terribly short of things to share this year so it's not much. :)
Donna, that musa banana should be hardy for you. That banana is awesome. We are really impressed with it. We planted it the end of May from a gallon container. We are definitely going to have more of these.
Got to get busy! Have a safe and good holiday weekend, everyone! Peg
I need help. What does a Brug look like when the roots are water-logged or rotting maybe?
New room for us to fill.

Amanda, I'm replying on the new #13- Thanks Linda Kay...
Peg, thanks for trying. I was hopeful for about 2secs that you would be right and then I remembered the sight warnings. I want to be a good plant steward or I would keep what I had and just not grow any more. But my conscience got the best of me so out they all came today and yesterday.
AuntB, I think the Water Hibiscus are really called Wild Hibiscus(plantfiles). I must have started calling them Water Hibiscus because they did well in the Packer Pond where I stock fish. Sorry for the confusion, I have to quit calling plants what I think they should be called if I want DGers to know what I am talking about☻☺Your back yard sounds similar to mine,Chiminea and all! Mostly,I live out there, but Peg, with no outside facilities, I just hold it☺
Phyllis,such a sweet baby☺
Have a great afternoon and evening you Hotties, and I will see you all on the 'morrow♥LU

Ok Beckie you get the crock pot out and you get the seafood stuff, Louise has the magic paella powder and now i must sit down and write the recipe which requires time, grrrrrrrrrrr, have not have any since i am spending time with darling Drea and college apps
Clemie.. I think I'll wait for the recipe fore I get the seafood out..LOL.. and besides..I need to KNOW what kind of seafood.. BTW.. take your time... Andrea and the college applications are waaayyy more important!!
hey beck the recipe is way to simple and deliciuos Just get the crock ot out, this time i got shrimp and clams, tried to gt lobsters but it as way to """"CARO"" means expensive, and i did trow some fresh calamari, yep, you shoudl try it sometimes, when it is fresh, it is NOT fishy at all and mild and sweet like flounder, Italians love i over here so we have plenty righ off the boat and no smell, believe me
Ok.. that's the seafood.. but what else do you put in it?? I'll have to pass on the calmari..lol.. I'll trade flounder for it..lol
