Unless my memory has failed (and it very well may have) a meter is 39" as oppossed to our 36". Thought you might enjoy this: son was driving when we entered Canada this past week for brother's funeral; saw speed sign posted "80" and couldn't get over the speed limit until we informed him that was in kilometers!! Not all that fast!!!!! Some major adjustments in what he was driving at that point.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

MARION! So glad to see you back online. Are you home now?
Sorry to hear of your brother passing. Our deepest sympathy to you. Hope you have no damage from the storms.

Retuned about 11ish last night. Exhausted is putting it mildly. Yes, I could not the believe the debris that came down after we left. Depressing but I will just address it one day at a time and move forward.

Good to be home and I did miss everyone. Hated I could join the other's at Kathys but it couldn't be helped.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We are so glad your home. I don't see you posting on the other threads yet. Make sure you post when you can, and let the others know your home, They will all be excited to hear from you.
Take care.

Glad you are home safely Marion..sure wish we could have met even for 1/2 hr...well perhaps on my trip to Florida in Dec. we'll get to have coffee...

Sorry you had more bad weather and debris to contend with..don't overdo, one day at a time..just think of the fun you'll have getting gardens back into shape...

You are correct...39" is our meter to your 36"..know the feeling about mileage, each time I cross the border and see how far it is home I just feel ill then it occurs to me, big difference from miles to kil.

Hi Betty!

Twice I've been to Wally World without the supply list..... But it's on the 'must do' list for next week so the list is going in my purse TODAY. Still very excited about your workshop.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Have we decided on a date yet?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought I'd wait till end of September and then we can choose 1 or 2 so that if one date is not acceptable then you can join in the 2nd date...

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

great sounds like a plan. thanks

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oh boy I am excited I love Christmas stuff and with our move I need to replenish some decorations for in the house.
Thanks for letting me join in Betty!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got my material today, but could not find the styro balls, so I will have to go online and do some shopping. Maybe I can pick some up in San Antonio, before my surgery next week. Hobby lobby should have them.
Linda Kay

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Linda Kay, I haven't looked yet but am sure we will have them at either Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Would you like me to get yours when I get mine and mail to you?
Debra

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I will also look Linda Kay.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

me too I can check here in Tyler when I go for mine and give them to you on the 11th if the date is after that

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

One way or another (humm not that reminds me of a song) you will get the proper styrofoam Linda Kay. Can't have you doing without. I usually keep some around for projects but haven't located them since the move.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Let me look in San Antonio, And if I don't find them there, I will let you know. Thanks for all the offers. All we have here is Wal-mart for craft stuff, and if wal-mart does not have it, I go to San Antonio...
Thanks for the offers.

Wal Mart is getting away from all the craft things. Just to sad, Mom went to one in our town a fairly big town and there was NO fabric what so ever. She had to go to the other side of town.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

When I moved here 22 years ago, there were all kind of craft stores, and 4 different fabric stores. Now we are down to just wal-mart, and they have threatened several times to shut down the fabric department. So we all sign a petition to keep it open. But one of these days it will be gone. I will be so sad to see that day.
Linda Kay

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

I heard they were doing away with the fabric dept and putting in a wedding dept - wedding gowns and all. Target was doing the same thing. Haven't seen it happen here yet. Anyone seen it elsewhere?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

all three walmarts here in tyler have fabric departments and we also have craft stores and fabric stores just haven't found everyplace yet LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, wonder how much I could open a hobby shop - fabric store for??? I could have my own business, and make my self so happy!!!! Anyone want to go in as a partner???
LOL
Linda Kay

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Hmmmmmm, something tells me that if they were money making enterprises, there would be more of them .......... don't got no MBA from Harvard or nothin, but something tells me ........

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I think that alot of people are ordering their material online that there is no call for it. We had a JoAnn's at one time but all we have now is hancocks and hobby lobby and michaels.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I went to my local Wall Mart here the other day (in Baltimore County). As i was walking the aisles, I noticed that something had changed......It was all neat and beautiful. Shiny new floor---new freezers and food aisles, all organized! Everything---it just looked different. Really nice!!!

So--I caught a sales girl and asked her: "Have you moved stuff around? Things look different!".
And she replied: "The WHOLE store has been remodeled! Everything is new--and this is the prototype store for ALL the Wallmarts of how they will all look--eventually!

And--you all are right! The fabrics went Bye...Bye!!! NOT a big selling department, I guess. Fabrics, in general, are slowly going out of fashion. Thank God for Joannes!
They still had craft stuff though. Didn't really check things out all that much--I was tired.

Styrofoam balls can be gotten at Michaels and at Joanne's Fabrics too. And--here in the Maryland area, we also have a GREAT craft store called "A.C. Moores".

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

oh I'm an idiot! nevermind! I foundit! LOLOL!

its right at the top of this thread how could I have missed THAT?!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I want to join in!!

Did we pick a date yet, or two dates? I can't do it in October, that's conference month at my work and we have to travel 5 hours one way for three, 2 day conferences. After that I think I'm open.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks for getting me here Betty and put my name down to join.

Yesterday I went to a little craft place nearby; they have various booths where woman show their wares and pay a small fee for the booth. My puchase (a lovely cast iron corn bread mold) was wrapped in a newletter that had ads for all kinds of craft places and quilt shops in Michigan. Many I had never heard of. I was tenpted to send it to you, Betty, as a bribe to come to Michigan for a visit but want to brouse myself first. Maybe other states have the same thing. I am also blessed with a wonderful quilting store just down the road a piece. After hearing from you all I know how lucky I am.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

For those of you that can't watch Betty's instructions live, it will always be here online, so just come back when you can, and follow the directions, complete with pictures.
So sign up with Betty, she will send you the head and body parts, and then make it at your leisure, if you can't do it live with the rest of us.
She will always be online to answer any questions.
