Lyon's Spectacular is starting to bloom . . . but I think when I first got the babies from Kim, I may have gotten the leaves wet or something . . . leaves look like they're partly . . . hmm, what's the word? spoiled?

Gail, so happy to see you posting! Be looking for a surprise box on Monday ..... and it does not contain one ounce of plant material!! But I did send you some edible Idaho Bear Poop!! LOL You do know that you gorgeous children and grand children rival mine any day, but I do so appreciate the compliments!! ^_^

Nancy if your right behind me in anniversary dates and we were both born in the same year ..... then that means that you too were a very young bride!! Come on, give it up, 16 or 17 ?? ^_^

Jannich sent me a handful of awesomely well grown sinningias awhile back in a trade and Rex is now blooming beautifully! Thanks Jan and I do hope your feeling better!

This is my first sinningia Playful Porpoise bloom ... remember my order from Dave's that looked like it had been kicked down the highway a bit?? Well I ended up with two Playful Porpoises after that disaster and one of them is now blooming beautifully!

Ok......finally got it. This will be for new blooms like Brenda's aweseome Rex! And you started the outside thread, too. I saw it!

I love that expression from Brenda, "Oh, give it up, Nancy. Was it 16 or 17?".......Those of you who married young have a much higher rate of success it seems to me.

Your Playful Porpoise is such a prettier double bloom than mine is. Mine is nothing to write home about. I think I will keep it and let it bloom again and see if I can get some double blooms!! Wow!

This is a NOID strep that I received from a favorite member of DG, I absolutely love it ....... and it reminds me very uch of Spiders "Butter Blues" that she posted .... Delicate smallish sized lavender blooms with yellow throats ....

Hi Gail ... I still haven't gotten one of those gorgeous double blooms like yours on my Pink Kitten but I'm holding out for it .... so you hang in there for your Playful Porpoise!!

I hope I sent you a leaf of this one but if not let me know ... this is Lynn's Ruby Red strep and it is a looker!

That is a looker for sure.................don't you even consider sending me a leaf.........I haven't even sent your package from me for all that you sent me!!!!!!! (LOL)...........keep her alive (if you don't mind......lol) so that someday I can have a leaf.

I haven't seen Kohleria Tane bloom in 6 months ..... but she is always worth the wait!

I am going to start trying to find some of the Franken series. I got 3 leaves in a trade with jim and please look at her colors. She is FRanken Copper Knob. If anyone knows where to buy Franken streps except Belisle Violet House, would you please share with us...........

You and your kohlerias, Brenda just make me sick as I cannot make them grow and bloom like you do and you are in the mountains at that!!!!

This Kohleria was a free gift in an order I received from Gary's Out of Africa and it is a mini (did you know kohlerai's came in minis?? I didn't) Flirt has been blooming her little head off ever since I received her, pretty fuchsia pink blooms !!

My secret is to ignore them (kohlerias) and then be happy when they bloom!! LOL

The Franken series of streps are definite beauties!! I'd be interested in where to obtain them also ....

My last post for tonight, time for bed!! this is my Pet Momo blooming beautifully in all her distorted beauty ... I'd like to know if this is how others have their Pets blooming?? From the suckers that come on them???

Where did you get the Irish Flirt? I love it... All the flowers are pretty... My Kohleria bloom really good for me.. and yes forget them and they do great... I do have to put them in bigger pots soon. I also have two Sinn. blooming.. and my episcia are growing nice in the fish bowls...Some better then others but they are alive and doing well so they can grow slow....
If someone had and Irish flirt baby I would love it and maybe kill it but I would love it to death...LOL

Susan - I got the Irish Flirt as a rooted leaf cutting from Kim. This one didn't produce suckers like the Rob's Chilly Willy, so I don't have little babies. I can send you a few leaves, if you want. If you're not in a hurry, I can start a few leaves then send you babies. If you ARE in a hurry, I know that Violet Barn has Irish Flirt on their list.

Nichole, you are growing some beautiful plants! Lovely blooms and they look so healthy!

Brenda, yours are gorgeous, too! Jan sent me a cutting of Sinn 'Rex', but like a big dummy, I killed it. :o( Doesn't that make you mad when you kill something you want so much?? LOL Happens to me more than I'd like to admit... I wish my Kohlerias would bloom...

Gail, I love Franken Copper Knob! Franken Dainty Lady is one I've been trying to get for over a year, but either I can't find it, or can't afford it! People bid that one up high on eBay!

Brenda, about Pet. 'Momo'... Mine suckers like a madman, but I take them all off. I have 5 suckers in my cutting tray that I'm hoping are rooting up nicely. Actually, I burned my 'Momo' with too much fertilizer. I forgot to flush that one. I remembered to flush all the other Pets, but poor 'Momo' missed the "clear water" day, so it died down to a pencil eraser size clump of leaves in the middle with three or four big leaves left. So, I pulled off all the aforementioned suckers, (which surprisingly were not burned!) and 'Momo' is growing back, slowly but surely. I do my best to keep the suckers off, but with that one, it's hard to do.

Lin, do you remember sending Pet. barbata to me? Well, when I repotted it, I pulled a sucker off of it. Here's the mom plant you sent and the sucker I pulled off. The sucker is blooming! Mom has a couple of buds, too! ^_^

Here's a closeup of the Pet. barbata bloom. Almost white, blushed with very light lavender. Lovely!

This is Sinningia 'Purple Crest'. Not really quite as dark as the picture looks. It's a bit fuzzy, too, which bothers me, but not enough to get back up and go take another one. LOL

Aeschynanthus humilis is absolutely FULL of buds!! It has a few blooms now, but I can't wait to see it in a couple of weeks!

Here's a closeup of Aeschynanthus humilis flowers. I could so kick myself in the rear for not ordering Aeschynanthus humilis 'Topaz', the yellow flowered version of this. Violet Barn sells it, but he's out of stock. Does anyone have 'Topaz' they'd be willing to share cuttings of?

Someone PLEASE tell me why this blasted AV won't bloom! It's supposed to be AV 'Indian Trail' but the foliage doesn't look right. I've had it 2 and a half years, it is ten times bigger than it was when I got it, I've cut several crowns off and sent to people, but it WILL NOT bloom! I fertilize it, water it mostly like I should, but nothing. :oP Dumb thing. It's got the rest of the summer and then to the trash it goes.

And finally here's your laugh for the day. My AV growing in lava rocks. I'm so hoping it's AV Star Trick. I forgot to label it when I potted it up, but I'm almost certain that's what it is. Anyway, I read an article this week about growing Gessies in Leca (the semi-hydroponic stones that are sort of terra cotta colored) and it seems to be a mighty fine method for some people. This AV is in very small (less than a pencil eraser) lava rocks. I keep water about half way up most of the time. It was a little bitty plant with a mom leaf when I potted it up.

But look! See the buds?? There are three or four bloom stalks in there! Look at all those roots, too! It's just full of roots in there! ^_^ Don't ever let anybody tell you that you can't grow an AV in water! LOL

Oh, one more thing I forgot. It's not a Gessie, but y'all will forgive me, right? ^_^ It's Gastrochilus somai, a miniature Orchid. Just got it last week from Andy's Orchids. The buds opened two days after it got here. Adorable little thing, I think! ^_^

The lipstick humilis is to die for! I almost ordered that one from LL the other day when I got a couple of them.

I don't have Topaz but they are at every show we have (but that won't be until Feb)

Amy! Don't you dare! If you decide you don't want the trailer, put it in my box! All of your plants look great!

Is the Topaz as beautiful as I imagine it is?? I want it so bad! LOL Why do I convince myself that I have to have these things? LOL

I am fertilizing that trailer every time, Gail! That's one that I've actually taken special care to do right with. It's become a challenge just to get the stupid thing to bloom! I think I'll move it to higher light. Maybe that will help some. I sent you a crown of it, but I think you said it died, didn't it?

Andy's is my next 'want list'. I went to his site and he has some fine looking orchids!

Amy, I did lose the crown......sorry......I wish you would try and use those little 5 inch pot pans for trailers.......they are very shallow and the plants love them........

I did get one box sent out this week, but it was a plant I had ordered for someone and I wanted to get it sent before I killed it, but you are at the very TOP, number one spot for the next one. I'm going to get them together today, box them up tomorrow evening, and Monday morning they'll be winging their way to you. Hope you like what I send! I might nip off a crown of that one to send to you. It's one of those that I love to hate at this point. Feel like I'm in a staring contest with it, and I'm losing! LOL
