Morrigan, A Sun Dog is when ice crystals in clouds refract the sun light. They are often in pairs equidistant but opposite the sun an the same angle.
Here is one from a few years ago. Only one dog that tine.

Here's one I really dislike, usually I would delete a pic like this but DW loves it and doesn't want me to delete it. It's a pic taken in Yonkers with my cell phone while visiting her mom! (boy do I have to delete this!! lol)

Victor, The pictures are straight from the camera. No filters or editing. Nanegoat66: Those are sunrises and the ones just posted were from this morning. Clouds do make a difference. Here is a picture of a redtail on a cloudy day.

WaterCan2, I love that pic. Your DH has good taste. Really cool effect with the screen in front of the camera. Gives it an Art Deco look, which I'm fond of. Love the pics, everyone. I especially love the sunset ones. I am very fond of clouds. I will post some soon. Gotta get to bed now and get some much needed rest. Had a big day gardening. Got a little sun burnt.
