LOL-that is too funny!! Well, he replaced the Sump pump at least and the did my yard-I paid the daughter to mow it, but the mom edged it and the dad weed whacked it-plus he helped us fix a leaky pipe and w/ our sprinkllers, and with my dead car battery:)
**SWEET INTERRUPTION** 11
Was just kidding... sounds like a good neighbor... I'm just still having nightmares about your flood.
meeee toooo:( Basement still smells a little:(
...have you checked for spoiled potatoes? I keep smelling something in our kitchen when I returned and couldn't find anything. However, today I did!! Wish I hadn't---got it cleaned up finally. 1 lone potato had rolled under a shelf and we couldn't see it. Yuck!!
Oh Tinky I love lemon too. Can hardly wait until DS Myers Lemons are ready to pick then I can make a pie!! Can taste it now.
Audrey, you are goint to have an entire bunch of "daughters" reading you out if you don't do what the doctors said!!! That's a promise.
I'm so glad I found all of you! You'll never know how much y'all mean to me!!
Lemon cake..yummy... Kel's favorite. I make sure he gets a steady supply from Schwan's. Stacey, the seller is from GB..are you okay with that?
I don't blame you BJ. I would have move that smoke detector myself! Lol!
Nothing beats the smell of dead rats. Be careful where you place rat poison. We had a dead rat in between the walls and had to 'tolerate' the stench --- Ewww...don't wish that on even my worst enemy!
Audrey, you've got to take care of yourself, so you can make it to the gathering...who else will tell the ones left behind what's truly going on at Sis' place ;)
Joey hasn't shown herself...must still be 'tumbling' around. Hope there's no burnt hamburgers at the Lopez' house tonight!
Bonnie...did you watch it???
Our boys won the 4 X 100 metres swimming relay!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!!!!
Oh boy..now I can go to bed :D
Hey everyone! Sorry been MIA today but have been busy working on lots of projects that have been neglected. Lawn mowed, weedeating, laundry, CIJ swap finished, jar swap going along well, a couple of other artsy surprises, and general house duties. Took adavantage of having DaDa around for babysitting LOL I did pop in and read posts here and there, but usually had glue all over my hands so didn't type much LOL. I already have a tumbling project ready for my first experiment. I'm going to try some glass bits. My DH drink Pelligino so I have a lot of green glass for my first experiment. Just have to pop out for some polishing materials tomorrow. I can't wait!!
Sounds like you are catching up yourself Marion. Glad to see you back and in full force!! I'll be back around tomorrow, pretty wiped out at this point. But it feels good to have gottn so much done!!
I can't wait to see-if this turns out as great as I think it will JOey, might eventually need one myself-how pretty would a cheap white 12X12 tile be w/ sea glass on it!!!
Jaye-what d'ya mean-I am confused??????
Auntie M-I am sure it is not rotten pots!!LOL Just modly padding!! There is still padding under the pool table that DH hasn't gotten up ye:( I will be giving him He&% to get it up on his days off tomorrow and Wed!!
I can't wait either Stacey, I have so many ideas! Especailly for the fairy gardens. This is going to be fun!
If it works for you I might do a tile w/ pink and purple sea glass-wouldn't that be soo pretty and fairy like-my fairies have been asking for a patio!!LOL
That would be adorable. I am now on the lookout for all colors of glass LOL. I was telling DH to be on the lookout for different colors of bottles...LOL he looked at my stash of art supplies and bits and bobbles and rolled his eyes.."Great more junk for the pile" LOL he just doesn't get it!!
I will have to keep an eye out for pink and purple glass.....they don't get it-probably never will!!!LOL
Morning...
The only thing Don gets about my crafting is... it keeps me off the streets... and away from the poker tables. LOL... well, we do have more money now than when I was playing poker with the "guys" 4-5 nights a week. He says the same thing about my gardening... it keeps my interest, and he doesn't want me having to go to work out of boredom.
I'm going to goodwill this today to see what thick glass things they have that I can break for the tumbler... don't have plans for using the sea glass yet... just want to tumble something.
yup thats where I'm at BJ, I just want to play with it first. See what it makes, then go from there
Here's kinda what I'm thinking... don't know if it will work... give me your opinion..
We have a table with 6 chairs... it has wood around the perimeter of the top... with 4" tile in the center... the tile is broke and needs to be replaced. We aren't using the table anymore... except right now I'm using it to separate seeds from dead heading my plants.
I wonder if I could weather proof it somehow to use out on the new deck Don built. I think I'd like to remove the old tile, and do a sea glass mosaic on the table... I guess I could use a marine varnish to protect the wood ... do you think that's possible?
I don't see why not. But be careful of what kind of Marine varnish you get, the last one I used took 24 hours per coat....that was a pain
Is there more than one kind of Marine Varnish?
Lots of different brands!! I'm sure where you are on the lake you can find a boat store with someone that can help you. I went to a big boat supermarket and the kid that was helping me didnt know much about them so I was on my own...never a good idea LOL
I'll have to look into that... yep, we have plenty of boat places here.
Would Marine Varnish be the same as putting several coats of polyurethane on the table? My brother put lots of polyurethane coats over a table where he had arrowheads lying on top of the table. The thick coating incased the arrowheads onto the table. Turned out really nice. Almost like a glass finish.
Polyurathane is very goos as is spar varnish, which is what they put on wood doors. Oil based is the best. But it doesn;t offer quite as good protecction as marine grade. But it would probably be fine for furniture, as long as every couple of years you recoated.
Don said Marine Varnish... but the table is too big for the deck... I don't think so...
He wants just a bistro table out there... of course, we don't have one of those, so I guess he intends on buying something instead of re purposing something we already have.
Now, I wonder who's going to win this one?
I can always use the "new and improved mosaic table" on the sun porch when we get it finished... cause, I'm sure he'll win this disagreement. So, I might not need marine varnish afterall.
Weel Don just hasn't seen what a beautiful table your going to create! Once he does I bet he'll change his mind! Maybe he'll just build a bigger deck to showcase it!
Do both tables! One could be a little sitting area near your dock or under the shade trees. There's lots of sales going on for Bistro table sets now.
Well, Don just won. He just informed me that he wants to build the bistro set himself.
I'd take his custom work any day... it's going to be wonderful.
So, the big table stays on the sun porch... I can still do the mosaic on it. So, I'm off to Goodwill... gotta get my tumbler going today so JoJo and I can compare notes.
Be prepared JoJo to take a pic of your glass every day when you clean the canisters... I'll do the same...
OK deal!!
I will definatley look for that brand, hope its available down here south of sanity....
Well, I think waht will happen is that eventually these chairs will be trashed and new ones will replace them-they just look like crap and I don't know how to fix them...I have never heard of that brand, will have to look for it now...mine weren't painted, just stained-one was a real rich cherry and the other was an oaky finish...
BJ-did you ask DOn if he would come visit me and help do some handy man stuff-you can come too;)
Stacey, Betty paints her own scenes on her chairs! Aren't they beautiful?
I can't really see-the pic doesn't blow up......
Ummm... no, I didn't ask him... last time I told him that Deborah wants to borrow him, he screwed up his nose as if to say... "what?"
I do know that sometime this fall we're going to Omaha to help his brother lay some floors in his house... his brothers didn't take after their dad like Don did... they're pretty much useless.
I'm going to have to find that brand of verathane too... for the bistro table and chairs Don's going to build. Oh, there's so much I want him to build... I sure we live another 50 years so we can get it all done.
Well BJ I'm going to be a day behind you tumbling. I didnt have any builders sand, and went to run some errands and going to pick some up. Zeke made it through Walgreens and then the post it place and then the post office, but that was it...NO MORE MOMMA!! LOL so didnt get to pick up my sand, maybe after naptime...
OK little rant here. Went to a little private post it place since its very close to the house and I though ok they will charge me a dollar or so extra to ship, worth it not to have to drive to PO about 6 miles away (in traffic) Anyway the guy tells me it will be 13.79, I said ok for both? He said no just for this one, now mind you thins thing weighs about 1.5 lbs and that was parcel post!!!! I couldn't believe it!! Went to the PO and mailed it Priority for half that. That simply shouild be illegal. Wish I had just printed postage from home...I would have saved a hot sticky trip and would have my sand for my tumbler! :(
Can you tell I'm hot and grumpy? LOL
That is why I ONLY go to those places if I want them to prefessionally wrap it too-then they cover it if it gets broken-did that for an expensive vase I sent to friend once....hate those places!!!
Yep... it's a rip off... and just to think... when we sold our business, that's what we were thinking about opening over here... but didn't because, well... I don't know when I'd have time to work... I'm so busy, ya know. And, we really don't want to own our own business anymore... guess it was just a phase we went through...
But BJ-tell him it is for your bestest fairy neice that is preserving your prints for safety reasons!! And my DH is cluless-if he breaks our house we will have to come live with you!!
What do you have to do to print postage at home? Don't you have to buy a scale? Is it expensive? What do you print it on?
LOL... he'd just say ... OK !!!!
Well, my first batch of glass is tumbling... got it set up here in the craft room, and it's just a bit noisy for me... can't hear it at all when I walk down the hall... but I spend a lot of time in here, so I might have to move it to the shop tomorrow. I'm so excited to see how it turns out.
BJ I'm glad y'all didn't open one. Right now I consider all owners of those things bloodsucking parasites LOL
Audrey you can print priority postage from usps.com. Yes having a scale is best. I have one cuz I used to do Ebay a lot years ago. I have sticker paper that I print on, but you can print it on any paper and tape it to the package. It prints the entire label, adress and postage all in one!
