I like the backlit effect of the Bloodgrass, but otherwise, it's tricky attempting shots in the afternoon when I get home from work.

Some colours don't show well in a picture. this Clematis (Mikelite) is not pink - it's a deep plum with pale yellow anthers.
It's climbing the fence in the area that will be the dedicated PNW garden. Hoping that I am able to get it cleared & soil work done prior to Winter. At that point I will post a request for names of your personal faves (shrubs, perennials, grasses, annuals) to be planted here.
This will give me something to look forward to when the dark, cold days of winter are upon us...

Miscanthus sinensis 'Rigoletto'.
I hope the size on the tag is correct, but I bet I'll move it just in case.

Kathy - during your last visit, you asked what the red-splotched leaf plant was, and i had no clue. Amaranthus, courtesy of either a bird, or an errant nursery seed sower.
Lovely plant - more next year...

MMMMM wonder what happened to her, maybe something happened. She has dial up. Will check on her.
Maybe we overwhelmed her.

Im new at all of this, and yes Tilly I am overwhelmed. It may take me a little while
to catch on. Thank You all for welcoming me in, .

Beautiful garden Katye. Love the reds.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi Hippi -

Welcome!! We were all overwhelmed at some point, but once we found our favorite spots to settle into (yes, it's like walking into a big library), we all relaxed a bit.

Feel free to pop in with your questions or comments wherever. We are a pretty easy bunch and the rules are few (like "be nice to others").

Kate - awesome pictures. I just love your reds. I'm amazed at the Amaranth.

You'd better put a lock on that gate - never know when Auntie Kathy may come sneaking in for a clipping or two . . .

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow Katye, gorgeous grasses and lilies and other stuff! The amaranth is lovely too. Isn't it fun when you get a surprise bonus plant from the wildlife or just plain circumstance?

Thia poppy came into my yard that way.

This is the first time my pulcherimum (fishing rod flower) have bloomed. They are kind of fun,and the hummingbirds like them.

I know it's a weed, but I still love Queen Anne's Lace, and I always let one grow somewhere in my cultivated beds (pulling out the many others that planted themselves there). Of course there are many more sprinkled around in the yard, which cannot be called a lawn as it is really a rough cut field.

Bea, those blue delphiniums are absolutely fantastic. Very refreshing to look at an a hot afternoon.

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Gorgeous pix, all.

Tills ~ What a wonderful gift you've given. Hippi. . .welcome to PNW. You will find very helpful and welcoming people here, full of knowledge and insight and more than willing to share it AND their plants!

Bea. . . LOVE the blue delphs.

Kate ~ I feel the need for a midnight "plant liberation" raid at your place. Coup efforts will be coordinated between Kathy and I?

Holly ~ Love the potentilla. Is the color in the picture true? I really like it a lot! BTW, got quite a few really nice strawberries from the plants, which are growing very well and sending out runners now. Should I let them run or cut them this year?

Here's my latest stuff. . .the last of the NOID asiatics. I think I like this one the best. . .of course, because it's PINK!

And the cutest little marigold, 'Jaguar.' Only about 3/4" across and the plant right now is only about 2" tall. I knew it was a dwarf, but didn't know it was a miniature dwarf! Another victim of the very strange weather pattern this year, I believe.
