Morning, still more rain, we're all flooded, ground cannot accept much more...
Jeannine I'm envious of your day..oh, Jason is to die for lol...everyone looks as though they are having the time of their lives...nice photo's-thanks for letting us peek into your day...
Gita, will be checking out the site when I arrive at work..
Being lazy this morning, can't get my mojo working...didn't accomplish anything this weekend except play with my boys...all 6 of them...nice seeing Greg and Jeff with their boys, always amazes me...Roger and I must have done something right...
Quite the explosion in Toronto yesterday...believe 1 firefighter lost his life - 25 year veteran...
evacuation closed major highway 401 for many miles..propane establishment blew...they ae hoping when all is said and done, no bodies will be found...let's pray for that...
Better get a move on....
Enjoy your day!
helooooooooo
i havre had no POC can u imagine thaqt!!???? ughhhh
looooove my jacket... u know i was looking ast that same one in that exact colour.. and when i went to order it, they had sold out!! i thought oh well.... never mind.. something better will cime.
oh its sooooo warm. i wear it as a dressing gown too! hahahahaah im never cold now and that really helps with the FM.
back healing well.... feeling pretty good.
so glad to see all your posts.... back at home finally
xxxx
Laura, what is POC...can just see you laying in bed wearing a jacket..can't imagine it's that cold in Australia..not sure why I don't, always think of it as a year round 'sunshine' country..better read up more...where were you Laura that you say you are finally back at home???
Not as busy this morning, perhaps many are having summer vacations..Jeff is on vacation this week with the boys...calling for rain much of the weekend so that ought to put a damper on his plans..i.e. Canada's Wonderland Theme park, golfing, go cart, boating etc. Am sure they'll find other things to do or enjoy between rain spouts...
Stopped at Tim Hortons for coffee on the way in and water about 1/4" sat on the grass areas and flower beds..ground just won't absorb...
In our talks yesterday Kyle let it slip that they had quite an experience last Saturday in the boat...leave it to kids...apparently they were nearing the marina for gas and the storm blew in...lighting galore..Melanie (DIL) said you could see the lightning hit the water and travel along it's surface ... Greg let out a scream and apparently you could see sparks coming from Greg's fingers..while this was going on, Melanie and Kyle were panicking, screaming to get out of the boat, the same bit of lighting hit the dock at the Marina, knocked one of the attendants out, blew all hydro .....so guess my boy was lucky...first thing both Jeff and I asked was "any damage to the Lady?" of course Greg took offense that we were concerned about the boat and hot he..lol..joking of course, he's sitting on the couch as fine as can be so there was no need to worry about him...he said he lost feeling in his hands for better part of the evening...no sensation...just goes to show you..storm came in unexpectedly .. bet you won't get Mel or the kids in the boat next time weather includes possible thunder storms....
Beautiful photo's Carol...all gorgeous people...always nice to stay downtown...did you get to visit, Pride of the Danforth..thought I might have come to the city to do it, but with all the rain...nope...don't think they cancel out do they when it rains, perhaps they have alternate locations other than the street...
Another 4 bell alarm fire going on now in the city...firefighters sure have taken a beating this weekend...know one worker at the propane plant lost his life as did the firefighter..they are trying to account for others...
Beautiful Carol, now that's quite the place to have a wedding...my dream wedding would be "Casa Loma"...have to win that lottery first, then could search for a 'hubby' NOT...lol
Can't sleep..went to bed early as Mondays I'm always tired...woke up when Sailor was barking..thought perhaps it might be Greg and Kyle, went to the door and here was a man with 3 children standing there, could hardly speak english..they came from Quebec and had stopped at the store looking ofr closest accommodations...she told them I did B&B, so up and got them all organized, thank goodness 2 rooms were done again yesterday..fresh bedding...explained to him in my french dialect that I work in the city, they'd be welcome to fend for themselves in the a.m. and he was just pleased to have a place to sleep..little boy is 5, girl10 and boy 12...now get this, as if it can possibly happen, we began talking and I said my last name was Pauze...now that is french, he started to laugh, his wife's name is Pauze...from upper Quebec...perhaps related generations past as the Pauze clan originated in Quebec..how ironic is that...
So fought to get back to sleep, hard once you are awake only to hear an alarm downstairs..I have a backup system for the sub-pump area and then had an alarm installed so that if water is raising above the electric pump and then the battery operated pump, the alarm goes off...so just sitting here to see if perhaps because of the dampness in the house it set it off or if something is wrong with the system..so will and wait till it next goes on...
Also, worried about a stupid thing I did, my brother had $400.00 for Suzanne's husband Lenny for work he did, asked if I could give it to him as I travel with Suzanne..this morning in a rush, I took the $400.00 and in my bag with painting project I was bringing to work, I slid the money in the paper towel roll - the inner tube...anyway, being such a clutz forgot about it..tonight I took my painting home, the bag and all but left the paper towel roll on the floor in the office..well cleaners come in and often throw things away with the garbage, let's hope they didn't discard the roll or I'll be paying the $$$$....keep your fingers crossed...
As for my B&B tonight, not a paying venture..here this man and 3 children - imagine mom's working...anyway, only charged him for a partial room and not for 2...love seeing families doing things together...lol..I'll never be rich...
As for step father..he crack a vertabrae...doctor said he was a lucky man not to have broken his back...quite a fall..so guess he won't be returning to work but I wouldn't be shocked if he did..very committed and stubborn..he might go even if he has to crawl...
No signs of pump going on so better try and get some sleep..have to have breakfast set out for guests before I leave for work...
oh dear betty thats a pain...
hahah poc was supposed to be PC , my computer went down. new keyboard and its weird; still not used to it.
how are u all...
still loving my jacklet. it does get into the minus's here especially near th beach. i live in thr jacket....... its a little on the big side but i love it... i tried a 6x top on a t a friends and it was fine.. comfy baggy so i thought that would be too. different people cut different ways i guess. i love it and im not taking it off!
thanklyou all again
xxx
p.s workcover specialist tomorrow who will make the decision wether i get paid for all this time off or not.. lets hope so as im still off until sept sometime except for the few hours every second day.
Never a dull moment in your life Betty. Sure hope the cleaners don't throw that paper towel roll out.
What a coincidence about the Pauze connection. They say "it's a small world."...
Glad you enjoyed seeing my photos of the wedding. It sure was grand. No we didn't do any other sight seeing while in Toronto. My friend can't walk very far as she has bad knees. So on Sat. we just headed for home..but I turned the wrong way on Queen when we left the parking garage..and didn't realize it till we got to Spadina..made a right turn and we were in the thick of Chinatown ..jam packed with people and cars....inched along for at least half an hour till we got to Dundas..and headed for the Don Valley Parkway...and then got on the 401..Driving in Toronto is just too scary for me. The last time I drove into downtown Toronto was about 15 years ago..and I didn't like it then. LOL
I sure could use one of those sump pump back up systems that you mentioned. I should look into it.
Hope you got back to sleep.
Gita..loved seeing all your photos of the festival..the costumes are so colourful.
Laura so glad that your back is getting better.
Jeannine..what a special time you all had at the football..and seeing Jason a from Dancing with the Stars..Wow!
Hey Liz..I was talking to one of the guests at the wedding and she was from Oakland California..(thought of you and Dawn)....loves gardening.
Hi Judy..Sharon, Bev..Vicki..Gillian, Cathy...and Ruby
Yesterday I had a surprise ..a friend dropped in to see my garden..she hadn't been here for 6 years....and wouldn't you know I hadn't deadheaded all the daylilies etc. ...because of being away..and rain etc..why does that happen? LOL I had started out yesterdday between the rain to do it..and my neighbour saw me and asked me for coffee..and then it rained again so didn't get it done...oh well.
The coneflowers are in glorious bloom. Over the years they have multiplied from only two plants..
Have a good day all.
Cheers,
Carol
Betty, I sure hope that you find the $400.00. That is sure a lot of money to lose.
I thought the wedding pictures were really nice too Starzz. Yep, the ball room shot looks as though it cost someone a pretty penny. Beautiful bride and bride's mother.
I am way off schedule today. The cleaning lady is coming later this morning, so at least the house will be nice later today. I have a lot on my "to do" list, but will do what I can and leave the rest of them till another time. First thing after getting up from here is water the plants on my front deck. We are in desperate need of rain.
Not much to say this morning. I would like to wish everyone a good day.
Ruby
Morning! Oh Betty, I do hope your paper towels are there with the money when you get it. And I agree w/ Carol - never a dull moment in your neck of the woods!
Sitting at work trying to look productive. Kinda slow right now and I'm just counting down the days till vacation to the beach (11). DH hopefully finds out today if he will be selected for a new job here. My fingers are crossed because he really wants to move on from where he is.
Puppies were 7 weeks old yesterday. We get to go and see them on Sunday and hopefully Dana will know exactly which one will be our Sailor-girl! She took them outside for the first time this past weekend and they looked like they were having a ball! It's been so hot here, she didn't dare take them out till now. It was actually 60 degrees this morning when I went out! I can smell fall just around the corner!!
My garden is waining down with the veggies. Only 1 cucumber plant left. My yellow squash are still producing like rabbits and the tomatoes are finally ripening. I got a few huge ones off the other day - I think they are "Mortgage Lifter" and sliced them up for a sandwich last night! YUMMY! I have gourds coming out of my....gourd! I can't wait for the plants to die so I can harvest them. I've got these ones that are two-toned and "horned' and striped. Very cool ones! I have ONE white mini pumpkin that better not die! I'll have to take some pictures of them to show y'all.
Well, my boss man just got here so I better run. Will chat with y'all later! happy Tuesday! (almost Wednesday for you Laura!)
J
Good morning all. Crossing my fingers about the money Betty. And the wedding pictures were gorgeous. Have a good day everyone
Morning everyone, first thing I check was the roll of paper sitting on the window ledge, as visible as visible there was the money...thank goodness...Roger always said I was the most careless person on earth about where I leave purse and/or money...always think everyone is honest and wouldn't take it...and they didn't...
Got up at 5:00, set the table for 4 and got breakfast goodies on it and the gentleman (probably nearing 40) got up and between my french and his english we had nice conversation over coffee and toast...the children were not up as yet so couldn't take group photo..did get one of car/boat this morning though..had hoped they'd be up...asked him if his wife had to work or couldn't get vacation and he went on to tell me after 17 yrs. they separated but on good terms..he bought a home about 10 minutes away from her and the children and he gets the children 1/2 the time..said he even decorated their rooms with same furniture and got same toys/games so they wouldn't feel any different when spending time with him...he was so excited about taking them camping/fishing in the area..told him if it rained one day he might want to spend it visiting the Martyrs Shrine and Ste. Marie Amongst the Hurons Fort...he was so pleased that I had given him 2 rooms and only charged him $40.00 - why not, what did it cost me, cereal/toast/juice and washing bed linen...he'll have good thoughts of Ontario...so cute, they young girl and her elder brother couldn't believe that in Ontario they had schools which only taught french...even though we are in different provinces sometimes they think we're moon based!!!
If it rains for a day or so he said they'd come back and spend another night so they can properly wash up...
No more trouble with sump pump or battery operated sump pump, think the alarm system which is battery operated to advise when water levels might be getting high sounded off because either it needs new batteries or perhaps just for a second water might have splashed and touched it...yes Carol, it's quite the system...worth putting in...
After I stayed up to make sure the pumps were ok, I couldn't fall asleep, thinking cleaning ladies might have thrown the paper towels into garbage made me uneasy...
Brought in about 30 containers of paint, thought I'd do a Christmas project I want done only to realize when I left, I set the wood piece on the table and forgot it...so found 8 santa heads sitting in a box that need painting so will get them done...
Thought I'd press send as not to have my post go cyberspace....
Carol, no wonder it was bumper to bumper with the Pride of Danforth going on..you should have stopped and just enjoyed...bet your friend loved your garden...I must deadhead tonight..did some in between the rain over the weekend...did you get the torrential downpours??? Carol are you starting this new recycle system that you put all leftover foods in a bin??? Noticed last night they delivered it, guess I should open the lid, get instructions and find out what it's all about..I'm not fussy on doing it though, can't imagine having food sitting around for an entire week until garbage day and having to wash out the bin completely to avoid wild animals that might want food...I'm all for recycling but little concerned about this part...I wouldn't have much anyway because I DON'T DO COOKING!!! if I do it's rare...
Jeannine, I always when calling my dog call out 'Sailor Girl'...I'm excited to see photo's of the one you finally get, am sure any of them would be the perfect fit...let's see how Murphy reacts to a new sister...hope DH gets the new post...always nice for a change...you have your summer holidays quite late during the summer season don't you? Let's hope you have better weather than we've been experiencing..white pumpkin?? is it one of the large giant size ones you see being promoted??
Jeff called this morning and said he and the boys were off golfing..tomorrow I bring Kyle in to go to Canada's Wonderland Theme Park..so lets hope clear sky prevails...
Morning Cat...what is in your plans for today? gardening is sure to be one of them...
Ruby sure wish I could send you rain....are you still working with the cleaner doing organizing??you were about to do the shed were you not? How's hubby doing with the stone walkway..an awful lot of work, hard manual labor...do you have to have the rocks delivered or can you manage to get some locally and just get what you need to keep you busy for the day...
Laura, you are sleeping most likely...sweet dreams..you sound as though you are on an 'up' that's wonderful...let's hope the physician give you a little more time off to heal...did you say you might get some back $$$ for being off??? Praying you do...it's hard purchasing clothing for someone else, that's true, each factory I think has slightly different cuts so sizes required can really differ...
I wish gardening WAS one of them Betty. I'm at work, as usual. But I won't complain. Good jobs seem to be harder and harder to come by these days
Some of that Canadian rain finally made its way down to south Georgia! A much needed light rain today. Hummm may mean I get to clean up the house or work on my jar swap. I'll chose working on the jar. Save the house for another rainy day. HAHA
Hello everyone!
Hope your days are going well.
Verry pretty Wedding pictures and of the garden. Sure brings a smile to see all the lovely flowers.
Wow, Betty, I am so glad to hear the not so empty paper towel roll was still there. That would have been a major bummer! Now maybe tonight you will get in a good sleep of no worry.
So nice you had guests...I hope they get to to do all that they wanted.
Ruby, Isn't it neat how people resemble others in our life. I know sometimes I "see" family members, might be the action at the moment or just a look. But you know I kind of beleive when that happens it is those members dropping in to say hello! How wonderful you had such a nice visit with Emily. She is just a joy and you are so cute, to here how she makes you smile when she talks to you!!
GG...you sound real excited for upcoming Vacation and New pup Sailor girl!
Laura, LOL too cute.
Hi ya Liz, Have you been working on Bird houses? I did enjoy my Spa the other night, as well having a chat with you. Sometime it's good just to hear a persons voice. Well for me anyway.
Ahhh. Ves, Thank you for the compliment on pink tank, I just got it. I love that color of pink too.
Now how are you enjoying your vacation. Did you get your beans pulled and work in gardens?
Well, i didn't pull of the weeds, my wild flowers! Only the obnoxious ones, the Burdock, which were out of control. This year though we got them before they go to seed, so, hopefully next year we won't have too many. Yikes they are stubborn for sure! Now that all that I did pull are gone, my yard looks so empty. Dunno, was feeling kind bad told DH maybe we should just cover everything with mulch.
Boy did he have a big no to that idea! So in my efforts, guess I'll just keep trying. So, so cute as soon as i took out a good majority in "The Wildthing" bed, Birds came to hunt tfor insects and maybe seeds. LOL, i joke thats because they can see the earth now.
Well anyway, I was asked to help with a major project. Having fun learning the new system too.
so it's lunch time got to get some energy going...
Waving Hello to everyone, Shar...enjoyed your last two articles. Gita, finally got caught up with the latest photos, LOVED them, the one with the little girl is adorable!
Cat, Dawn, Bev,Jaye,
Hope you all have a nice afternoon.
Sweet!!!!!
Aren't they adorable...guess who is home...yep 4:43 pm and already home...went for lunch, got back into the office, Paul's first day back after I think almost 2 weeks, tell him there is a call for him, Law Society, anyway no sooner do I tell him there is a call but the fire alarm goes off, evryone grabbed their purse/keys and out of the building we went..sat for 1 hr. and then they told us not likely we'd be allowed in till morning...building has 7 floors, apparently renovations were being done on top exec. suite and it was ablaze...so most of our geer had to stay in the office and here I am, 85 and sunny outside, just put a load of bedding for wash...came home to a lovely note, each child wrote a thank you..makes you feel great ...
Deborah, you do a good job on that jar, I just might be your 'swap' partner..promise to do same with mine (although they are already done) lol...
Jeannine you keep showing up photo's and we'll all be taking brothers' and sisters' from same batch...Sharon sent me photo's of hers..all gone except 1 ...Eskimo theme always...I'll post them tomorrow as they are on work computer...
Judy my heart goes out to you, know you being native how very important wildlife and wildflowers are to you...praying that next year you'll plant mega wildflowers the kind that perhaps won't offend neighbors..could it be the gentleman across the street from you...glad the children are enjoying what's left of summer...beach time..now is that beach time at Chicago waterfront?? lucky them...
Just to put a smile on your face I'll let you walk through my garden..went out and took some photo's for you..even have a bee enjoying it's meal...
Ohhh, How Beautiful!!
Thank you Betty, Yep going to smile all the way home.
What a spectacular photo with the Bee feeding on Coneflower.
..sweet of the childrens thank you notes.
Puppies are adorable....
Love that hibiscus Betty..mine haven't opened yet.
I have one similar to yours ..name is Disco Belle..and some burgundy coloured ones called Luna.
You asked about the green bins..we have had that system in place for a few years. I don't do it as I don't have much and if I do I put it in my own compost. My neighbour who cooks for three does it though.Lovely of the children to leave a note.
NO rain today..Yipee!!! I cut grass today..after it had dried up a bit.
Don't think I'll use mine either...for a couple of things just not worth it and then next door where the restaurant is there is a large green bin which is not recycled, they let me put bits into it..i.e. tomorrow morning truck will empty it...I've a few things and there is plenty of room, they pay dearly for each lift so not a problem...
I'm soaking wet, decided to give a sprinkle to the windows...hate it, only 4 windows remain and the house is completely done outside..will order them for fall but in the meantime I do the bedroom and dining room windows and you'd never know it because of it being 'old glass'..house never looks tidy I feel unless the windows are spotless..tried taking bedroom windows out to do and just couldn't..they are jammed in so think Greg is bringing Kyle here for me to take to the city in the morning for Wonderland...just might con him into trying...he's got the muscles..lol...
Now this butterfly bush is at least 8 to 10' high..just growing flowers so probably in September it will be at it's best...probably I have to cut it down and leave a few feet out of the ground so as not for it to get so high..maybe I'm wrong, maybe they are suppose to be that size..those in back garden are maybe 6'....
