Bummer about the bee stings. Ouch, had a pinkie sting once. Oh yuk bad on toe tips too. Feel better today I hope.

Wow Betty, you had a very busy weekend. Whew no wonder your tired today.

Judy thanks for the photo, yep my B&B is called "Beyond the Garden Gate" photo is a reminder of that nice afternoon you and Liz and I spent together...can you recall what's inside a library???lol

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Jeannine..Great story..you'll be telling for years to come. Sorry you both got stung though.

Betty..
I had one of those hives.in my apple tree in the Secret garden.
Left it alone and it disintegrated in the fall. Stiil I wouldn't be happy if it was right over my car.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, do you think one could get any more comfy than that..lol..looks as though we are getting a storm blowing in as well...did you spend time at the trailer over the weekend? Don't you just hate paying bills..thank goodness for automatic service...all comes out without my having to look at it, less depressing....lol

Carol, can always part my car in another location...so you think if I just leave it alone once fall comes I'll be ok???? Don't know why I worry so
because up until yesterday morning I didn't know it was there..should just pretend I didn't see it... what's the weather like in your area?

Managed to get through to lunch just sitting and resting...now my desk is covered with paint bottles and paint brushes...sure wish I could just sit...NOT!!!

Started my faux window, would love the get the 2 panels done and framed and installed by the weekend...wanted to put flower boxes under them and thought perhaps the walls of the metal shed wouldn't be strong enough..thought about it long enough I came up with a solution..lordy I'm good...just kidding...lol

Evening everyone, thank goodness I had a 1/2 hr. catnap at work today...

Took us 2 hrs. to get home because of torrential rain...Carol, hope no flooding in your basement..best go check my laundry room...

Here is the bees nest...what you think...

When I got home my thoughts were to have a quick meal and off to bed...not always do plans work out...

Sitting on the counter were fresh yellow beans and a dish of blueberries..Cathy dropped them off with a quick note to say she picked them from her dad's garden and her mom went blueberry picking...and how she loved my livin room now that no couch is in front of picture window...how very thoughtful! As I had made stuffed peppers yesterday, I just started to fry potatoes, warm up a pepper to eat with those lovely beans...another plan..lol

WOW Betty! That is a HUGE hive! But, I don't think it is honey bees. Bees cling to the outside of their hives. I looked on Google and you've got yourself a huge hornet's nest!

Here are the ones I found...

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.cirrusimage.com/Hymenoptera/bald_faced_hornet_nest_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.cirrusimage.com/Bald-faced_hornet.htm&h=768&w=1024&sz=184&tbnid=mRmv-Bi9O98J::&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhornet%2Bnest&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&cd=1

While cooking I remembered it was Tuesday night NOT Monday night..days get confused when you are busy and it's a long weekend, ahhhh remembered that last week I purchased bingo cards to T.V. bingo and they had equipment failure so had better play those cards..could have supper while playing..$3,000 jackpot...

No sooner did that thought come into mind that I heard 'Betty, you home?' - June dropped by, box in hand, "can you help me make a 'diaper cake' need one for the weekend'...

Now I am really multi tasking..frying potatoes, showing her how to make the diaper cake, from time to time while I'm at the stove, June has to watch the bingo numbers..lol...

Long story short, her cake is done, all but the decorating of baby items, didn't win at bingo - not even close..supper was good and now I'm off to eat those blueberries and say prayers to thank the Lord for all the wonderful things in my life, as well as some of the dearest friends...

Will add a prayer for each of you, know everyone has needs...and a special prayer for Sharon (sister) as she's still bedridden.....

Night/night...

wow, Jeannine do you think then if I leave it, it will do as yours and just die off???? do hornets have little white markings?

Thanks for going through the trouble of looking for me, I will do research tomorrow at work..for now I've just added an evening I had planned to go to bed early and didn't..sooo tired...so am off...

We'll gab tomorrow ok?

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes - they are black with whitish stripes. If the nest isn't bothering anything, I'd leave it. Once the weather gets cold, I think they will all die. But I'm not positive!

Chat w/ you later!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Betty, I think it is a hornet's nest, and I would not bother it, just like Jeannine says. They won't bother you if you don't bother them.

Here is a website with some good info for you, also pictures to help you identify them. Hornets are not great pollinators, but they do eat caterpillars and flies, and keep your area more pest free.

I'd just leave them alone if they are high enough up to not be in your way. And try to not make them mad...boy, do they ever have a temper.

View from the spa early yesterday morning.....
birds were singing and the colours of the blooms were so vivid that I got out and got my camera to take a photo..climbed back in careful not to get any water on the camera.
Did I mention that the spa hadn't been working since last year. My son installed a new spa pack and pump and electronic controls..so nice to have it back.

Starzz, what a lovely picture of your yard. That is so beautiful, makes me take a big breath, so I guess a person would say that it is breath takingly beautiful. ha-ha Betty, the pictures of all of you flowers in the yard are lovely also. I missed reading for a day or so but am caught up for now.

Betty, I will get some pictures posted today if I can find the time. Hello and happy day to everyone. Off to read other forums and see what the world is up to.

Shucks, just wrote an entire novel and puff...gone into cyberspace...

Here I go again,

Carol, what a view, glad your hot tub is working now..sure miss the one I put into the rec. room at the house on the bay..I'd no sooner come home that I was taking clothing off for my nightly relaxation...lucky you..perhaps next year I'll have one installed...so glad you did not get flooded, rains so heavy you couldn't see a foot in front of you..walking on the grass is like walking on sponge..don't know how much more water the ground can absorb...

Yet, decided that the wasps can keep their home..I'm not about to anger them, not with kids always around the house...

This morning I had no cable and no internet, call Rogers only to be told the entire region is out..they are hoping to be back on this evening...amazing with no t.v. and no internet just how much work one can do early morning..Suzanne was out of power so only called me to meet her at 7:30 so had 2 hrs. to entertain myself...garbage day today, filled a large garbage bag with clothing from 4 drawers..wow, why do we keep things we can't get into??? will do a few more drawers next week...
got all my floors done on upper floor, I try to do this every morning, amazing how much the cats/dog track in..as well as with this damp weather the paw marks on the floor, drives me crazy...did a load of wash/load in the dishwasher and dusted the living room, not sure why I have so much dusting-it's a daily chore...wiped all the faux food from the little side cafe next to my kitchen and then it was time to come to work...

With Paul coming in today (or so I thought) I wasn't going to bring in painting as he had a full schedule slated but he spend early a.m. in emerge and he has walking pneumonia so won't be in till next week, so glad on the off chance I brought in another panel for the faux windows...

Cliff (Bernice's husband) has the measurements for the window frames but they have gone to Manitoulin Island for the week so won't get them till then..

Laura, nice you are having time with DD's...and especially nice to spend time with your darling grandaughter....that's the pitz not getting income because you are ill...here a company can't give you problems in the work field if you are off because of illness...do you have services there that look after such things..i.e. them giving you problems with time off???
Will say a prayer in hopes you soon will be back working and well...

Shar, thanks for the link...will do some research...

Time to get my paints out..lol..hard way to make a living right? lol

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Carol, put the 3 tier dimentional metal steps that I sprayed white into the garden, I understand from just who brought me 2 lovely flowered shrubs (winter magnolias) yesterday that the same nursery has a lot of their mums out already, will pick a few and set them on it for display...boys will surely say 'more junk mom'...

Hi All. Slow day here at work. I worked from home yesterday and that was nice. Figured I better make an appearance here today! Have to leave shortly to take DD for a consultation with a new orthodontist. Should be fun and expensive!

My parents called yesterday and are driving up tomorrow to have lunch and go the quilt store (my mom and me that is!).

Exciting news: I got 4 tickets to Saturday night's Redskins game against Buffalo up in DC. The kids are excited and I am cause we got suite tickets!! I got tickets to a game year before last and that was my first one. It's amazing how big the field looks on TV cause it's small in person!!

Three more weeks till we get Sailor!! I need to go out and buy her some toys and a girly collar and leash!!!

I'll check back in later!

Betty, your garden is glorious. What a tribute to all your work.

I just wanted to let you know, those of you who remember that the little boy Gunner who had an inoperable brain tumor has been in Scottsdale Arizona since spring at a hospital there trying a new/different treatment. Just this week all progress he has made has fallen by the wayside, and he has spent the past week in the hospital. They are planning to return home this upcoming weekend. He no longer is walking well, and his speech is very bad, he is having trouble eating. I do not know details, because Gus, the father, and the little sister Garlynn flew back about a week ago to start school last Monday, Janna and Gunner had planned to stay in Scottsdale. Something happened over the weekend that landed Gunner back in the hospital, so I know no more beyond that. I should know more specifics by afternoon. I knew at the beginning that there was no cure for his inoperable brain stem tumor, but it is still very very heartbreaking to think that the end is near.
Please remember Gunner and the Gillespies in your prayers. This is a very difficult time for all of them, and for those of us who know them well. I cannot imaging having to go through this..
I should be back this afternoon with an update.
Thank you for caring.
Sharon

Sharran praying here!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending prayers for them as well..just yesterday Suzanne and I were talking about just this thing, having a child pass on before you, that must be the most heartbreaking of all..cannot even imagine it..and for this family to have such a young man, with an entire life before him die...there are no words....they will be in my thoughts today...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, took a photo last night of Riley! Do you think this furry friends can make themselves any more at home??

Resting today, didn't take leisure time for myself since last Friday..almost made it last night, however brother Bernie calle to remind me it had been a week or so that he gave me 12 pairs of jeans for hemming....so, started to sew at 7pm and didn't finish till 11am..another commitment done...

Received a call last night from a store owner, have some painted pieces in her facility and a cottager wanted to know if I'd paint her cottage on a milkcan..not so sure I want to..don't mind painting but want to paint when I feel the urge, not because I have to...the artist in my I guess...so must drop in tomorrow to see the photo and let her know..am sure it will be a 'no'...

Shar,
The news of Gunner, just so heartbreaking...
I continue him in my daily prayers and often send many for him alone.
Jacob will be very distressed with the news and I will tell him
when we know further...Tonight we will hold a special fire and prayer offering for
the Gillespie family.

I'll be back in a bit.

Had a delightful morning yesterday for my first of 7 off! Wne t to town with Ty. He enjoys his rides and treats. Yes it was cool enought to leave him in the jeep with rooftop open and windows open a couple of inches. But they were also quick trips in and out of the stores. Went to the thrift store and my friend was working who I hadn't seen all summer. She got her hair cut and it looked so nice. Most of her news was bad news. But she was keeping a smile on her face and hoping it gets better when the new baby is born in about 4 weeks!

Then we zipped around the corner where a lady sells her plants on the curb. She still had the green and white stripped grass I had seen several weeks ago. So it was meant to be. Best yet she came outside and we talked for about an hour. She showed me her garden and I felt right at home. She uses brick where I use rocks. Kind of messy and needs a good cleaning. But with a magical feel to it. A good person to know I think! So it was a very good morning and I got home lots later then planned and Ty was in lots of shade.

Came in to take a break. Was weed wacking and that stress' my forearms so much and it is just a little electric trimmer. So I try not to over do it. Don't want the tendonitis to flare up. then I need to go out and spray the weeds as I am so far behind.

Liz I plan on getting things done I am behind on this week. Then will plan what other projects are rolling around in my head. But who knows what I;ll do for sure. So easy to get distracted! LOL

Jeannine am so excited that the day is getting closer/ Those puppy pictures are to die for. Love the name Sailor. Was telling some girls at work about it and they loved the name.

Ruby have a great time with the DGD and get in lots of smiles!

Back to work!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning everyone!!

Yow can't beleive I've been gone for a week!
Trying to keep up with you all though.

...Busy,busy at the office for a good change has kept me away during day.
got kind of a situation on the home front so been taking care of that as well as a few other things.
DH, had a very wicked Poison Oak!! yikes so bad the doc wanted him in the hospital. Well, that is finally under control thankfully almost gone. of course had to toss some shoes away. This was not a good thing as well, he's big and his shoes aren't exactly cheap...
My girls, Especially the younger are distaught with a very searious issue involving a friend, however, they did what they felt was right and hopefully the friend will see it that way as well. Waiting to hear any news of the situation has been tough on my girl...Last night was the first night she has been able to sleep though the night, in a very long time.

In between these little setbacks, We got a citation from the village about my UHH Jungles! LOL, now This afternoon my day off...has to be dedicated to that or i guess we get a fine. OH well, at least it's a beautiful day to be in the Yard.

Other than that, Just getting ready for school, i have taken care of all the paper, made doc appts. and got lists of needed items for shopping.

Managed to do a few little things of my own, notes, a few letters and even had a small fire for relaxation the other night...Thankfully, we are homebound this weekend so i can get some other work done.

So Carol, Wow, so nice to have a spa on your deck!! Be nice to relax after working in the secret garden.

Betty, I hope you do take time to get relaxing in. Now look at those love flower plates, you are so creative. heheh, I want to relaxt like Riley, so purrfectly content.

Ruby, You have a wonderful visit.

GG, Oh my gosh those are such little cuties. LOL, did you find a girly girl color for Sailor? what fun.

Ves, Now I am smiling that you are on vacation. Nice way to start with a visit with your friend. i hope things work out for her. Her garden sounds very pretty too. Aww i bet Ty is enjoying your being home too. you enjoy every minute.

Dawn, Hows the new job going? I hope all is well and you are able to get a routine in. We miss ya.

Yay Laura! I am so glad and Happy you LOVE your gift. Many hugs and love was sent with it.
Hey, Love that little one up. They grow so quickly.

Oh by the way my baby is no longer a baby...He just turned 13 on Monday!!
LOL, He has been using my garden tools around the neighborhood. Doing Lawns for everyone but me!! LOL, thats cause i don't pay him. But i can understand, the boys got to earn his pool money.
heheh, told him though if doesn't put them back where they belong i m going to charge him rental fee.

Hey Liz...Betty, Jaye and i think Deborah...You are to cute, i am enjoying the read on on your latest swap!! have fun girls.

Ok..my day at office is over. woohoo...time at last to Let my jungles know who is the real boss of the yard LOL.

have a great day, see you when I take a break.

OH one more thing...remember helping my bro out? Well, better than photos.
They surprised us with the the real thing!!
here is my Neice Josephine and my self. She is just adorable!

Judy what a cute picture and what a little cutie! You look good in that pink! Wow yard work I so understand! Good thing DH likes to mow! But some of my gardens and edgings are out of control. Got a good start. Now I will spend the afternoon doing up beans and peas. Then picking more later. Maybe raking up some of the grass to use in the flower beds. Deadheading. The list goes on. Hope all the problems work themselves out to everyones satisfaction. That is a busy week! Have fun this afternoon!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi all! You all have a great day. I am going outside and work. Betty they are something else. Kitties HUGS TO ALL> BEV can't find the pic

Victoria Harbour, ON

How do we get the post screen smaller..did know how but forgot????

Leisurely ride home from work, drove the speed limit, even stopped into the Victorian Tea Room Emporium..of course even though my back seat area was full of yet more shrubs...6 in total..planted Minnesota miniature mock orange a few years ago, plant is a lovely size for only 2 years but no flowers...so will try again putting this one in a different location...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a bath, in work clothes now, I know, backwards, another bath to come later...all ready to work outside and it's pouring one minute and sunshine the next...did manage to empty my car though...had the 2 panels that I'm working on as faux window inserts..probably 1/2 done, have to add more and shade and highlight, but once I've the frame I'm sure it will made the back metal shed look country along with my other planned 'treasures'...

Riley is always interested in what I'm up to...
