Is this what your talking about?
Linda kay

If so, it is soooo pretty.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Yeap Linda! Better than a brug, I still have to experience that for myself, Clemen

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So how many nights you gonna camp out with your camera, to catch that one and only bloom?
Linda Kay

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Linda Kay, your pic is of the san pedro cactus which confusingly is also called night blooming cereus. Clem has the epi night blooming cereus, I do have both, but they are too young to bloom. Unfortunately there are many plants that are called night blooming cereus which confuse the matter, and the cactus and the epi have similar looking flowers.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Louise, which one do you have, mine i know, the bud will be about 12 inches long, according to my friend that gave me the cuttings! I have tons of epi's too!

Linda, I will be awake when she opens, believe me, according to Asian custom's which i do not have any, when you see the flower open, it brings you lots of luck and fortune! Clem

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

hmmm, how do I tell which night blooming cerus I have?

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I have both, the epi night blooming cereus and the san pedro cactus which also blooms with a large white flower at night and only the flower resembles epi . My epi I got just this year from a DGer and it is still growing. I only have about 8 different epi types right now which includes my rick rack cactus collection all very young and received as cuttings this year.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

If the leaves are flat and epi like you have the e oxypetallum or s grandiflorus, you can look in plant files and compare plant growth. The cactus is a columnar cactus that has huge white flowers like the epi night bloomer, comonly known as the san pedro cactus, but there are several types of them too. You can't miss the san pedro, it looks like a typical tall growing cactus and is very spiney although mine has small spines. My epi is spineless and has long flat leaves with the occasional long thin stems holding the flat leaves.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

here is a nice link of the epi type of what is commonly called night blooming cereus.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

here is a good look at the cactus. notice the flowers which look like the epi and smell good as well.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

well mine would be the epi type then... its definitely not a cactus!

Afternoon, all Hotties!

Bonnie, I swear, when you said putting the miles on the Honda, I could just see you in biker leather, riding on the back of a souped-up bike. Where is my mind these days???

The weatherman lied and said it was going to rain today. It was cloudy this morning when I worked but then the sun came out and that was the end of that.

Clem, my dear, you are just a nightowl and so are your plants :))) Mama Brug is so pretty.

Moodeen and Linda Kay, are either of you going to one of the Texas RUs? Beck and I are working on our hotel arrangements now for Arlington. Any other hotties want to come? I don't which I am more excited about, the cooler October weather or actually getting to go "out-of-town" Nuh, I'm kidding! I'm most excited about meeting Beck and some other DGers I know from other forums.. :))

Joyce, you are a tease! What is a brug island?? Have you figured out a better way to grow brugs for us?

Got to go water.. poor weatherman, he just can't stop lying. Peg

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Haha Clemen, I wish I lost 50 pounds! Audrey, I would pot them together in a slightly bigger pot. Don't make it too big too soon. You might get rot. Went shopping today for the stuff for the new grooming shop yay! Someone mentioned good luck with your bubbles and bows shop and I am stealing that for the name lol. I did pick out pets in style, but bubbles and bows has really stuck. So whoever said that thanks!!! I love it! I think we are ready to start plumbing now!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Hey Louise, I have not lost the pounds yet, waiting for the new screen name, then I'll see how gorgeous I will look, lol, Clemen

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

lol Clemen, cannot wait to see your new hottie name!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Well, not the hottie name the pounds off, the name will be simple so that I do not have to sign it everytime! Clemen, figure it out yet????

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Haha, good girl! I went out and watered and my gosh my yard is a jungle! The brug babies are giants and make it look like a tropical forest.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

okay, I was going to put some brugs there, but also planting iris and JM...which dont need as much water ... should I just keep brugs in pots instead?

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Louise... I think it was me that mentioned the bubbles and bows.. so I am honored that you would name your shop after that..LOL BUT I can't take all the credit.. there is a shop here in town with that name and I always thought it was cute!
Clemie.. I think you need to have the screen name Clemie..LOL You are sooo cute.. that fits!!
Nadine... Tyler RU is Oct. 11th, and Arlington RU is the 18th... when are you having a RU? There are threads up for both on the TX forum..

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Morning Hotties,
I’ve been absent for a while but have tried to catch up with the reading. My dad landed in the hospital in Providence, Mom is in the northeast corner of the state and I am in the southwest corner so I’ve been spending lots of time in the car. Thankfully RI is a little tiny state, but it still takes a few hours round trip. Dad is doing well, looks like a slight stroke, he is up and around but they’re keeping him a while longer. The corner gas station is going to love me I’ll be over $200. by the end of the weekend. I can’t even look at the links you hotties put up for the night bloomers; I can’t get another addiction now.
Sounds like everybody’s doing okay and the babies are well. Clemie, can’t wait to see your new name. AuntB, glad you made it SC okay, if you drive up the coast you’ll find Kim then Clem then me. I know it’s a heck of a ride but we’re worth it (hee hee). Took a vaca day today, but vroom, vroom gotta bust a move and get driven. Keep the burg love coming.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Got a reprieve from the driving, waiting for a possible discharge today. So I get to stay home for a couple of hours.
Here is Miss crinkles (Jerads joy) with some new growth. Looks like she is straitening out. Yes?
