August Blooms Part 1

(Zone 1)

Hi Ya Diane! We've missed you! Happy belated 14th Anniversary to you and your DH! I sometimes am so amazed that my hubby and I have made it for 39 years ... marriage ain't easy! I've always felt though, in most cases, it is hard for any two human beings, married or not, male or female, no matter what age to live together day in and day out without having some bad times!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Enjoying the pictures and wishing for more time to drop in! Busy time of year for us...

Happy Anniversary Diane and Lin! Truer words were never spoken Lin, marriage is hard, hard work!! DH and I have made it to 32 1/2 years!! Yes I count the half years when it comes to anniversaries! LOL

I have lots of new pictures of gessies and when I get a minute to get them centered and resized I'll post a few. ^_^

But for this morning here is a shot of my granddaughter "smelling" a rose at a garden my daughter and I toured yesterday. She crinkles up her nose to "smell", cracks me up!!

One more without the funny face ... ^_^

edited to say .... Nancy, your dreaming of winters in FL and summers in ID are exactly the thing my DIL parents have going!! They leave Idaho and got to Florida about the middle of October and come back May first!! I am a bit envious for sure!! LOL But on th other hand I couldn't stand being away from my grandson (who lives here) for that many months in a row!

Great pictures Brenda! Your little granddaughter is a doll! Wow, your daughter looks just like you, from a photo I remember seeing of you a few months ago ... y'all look more like sisters than mother/daughter! You are a very young grandmother.

LOL Nancy, your 32 1/4 Anniversary is on my hubby's birthday the 29th!

Roxy: My Mom used to say, do something until you get it right!

I am trying to remember another saying I heard once that would fit but my brain isn't functioning at full speed right now ... will try and remember it and come back after dinner and post!

Yeah when I was young I was really stupid where men were concerned.

One thing I can say is ....... it made me really appreciate a good man when I finally found one. My DH and I have talked about that. He had some real doozies too! Of course his first was when he was 16 and only lasted 3 weeks. That was back in 1965 in Texas......I guess babies could get married back then! I don't think that really counts as a marriage though.....isn't there a time limit? LOL

Whatever doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger!!!!

Brenda , you have, without a doubt, the most beautiful family in the world. Every single one of you look exactly like you and your husband! Soooooo cute!

I grabbed the camera a minute ago....to show you some little african violets I grew from leaf. They are in 1" containers (I think one is in a 1 1/2") I am too lazy to brew fertilizer lighter for the babies; thus we have flowers but not much foliage.

this one is called Bon-bon

Look at the size of Texas Zebra by Dale Martens. Jannich sent me a cutting last spring and this sinningia is now in a 4" pot and fills the 11" width of the tray.

actually I always say I hate african violets and that is true! So don't ask me why I keep planting leaves!! Makes no sense to me either.

***edited to say that I have never seen an ugly NESS's african violet, Sally. I really love the double blooms on this one.

You can't hate them Gail! They are too pretty!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

would you come live at my house, Sally and take pictures for me (LOL)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I just don't get a 'bang' out of growing them. Can always find something else I would rather grow. I think it is probably because I don't pay any attention to them and mine are usually pretty ugly! To me avs are just trouble and a lot of trouble ; whereas, all the other gessie family members I love taking care of.

Gail- That Bon Bon is just too cute! Is the bloom different shaped on the Winsome Pink one?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

The Winsome Pink (I tried to look it up on First Class and there is only a Winsome Pixie) I may have the wrong name..........but she is tiny semi-double bloom.....some of the blooms are singles........

(Zone 1)

I must have posted on the wrong thread a minute ago. I asked if someone would start a new thread cause this one is getting so long. I know some folks have dial up and it must be getting very slow for them.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

how funny, Lin.........because I must have gotten on the wrong thead, too.........I even asked you if you could do it because I don't know how.............this is weird.....

(Zone 1)

hee hee ... I have been going back and forth Gail. We need new threads for both!

I think Nichole is going to start a new thread for August AV/Gessie Blooms!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I did start a new one for the OT thread . . . here - I just took a few pix of blooms . . . give me a sec!
