Hi everybody! Loved catching up on this thread, I've been too busy even to lurk but found a half hour today! I owe some d-mails, hopefully the beginning of next week things will slow down some!
I received a leaf of Bristol's Anteater in last falls gessie swap that we did, I don't remember who my trading partner was though!
Anyway the baby I grew is getting big and blooming nicely, so pretty!

August Blooms Part 1
Everyone has such gorgeous Beauties!!!
Gail, beautiful red Sinningias. That Dandy Blue is one humongous tuber, how do you store it? I’m a lazy gardener, I just leave mine in the pots. Maybe that’s why I sometimes lose them?
Plantladylin Love the yellow columnea and the adorable little blooms on that pucilla girl. She is precious!
Nancy, your minis are soooo cute. I love all your Streps, but of course I’m going Gah-Gah over Roulette Cherry!
Sally, that Bristol’s Hey Mei reminds me of Black Forest Cake. YUM!
Brenda, great pictures. I like that swoop on B&C. cool
: ( I don't have any thing else blooming today. Just an AV called 'Fun Trail'
Your fun trail is very pretty!

Oh gosh you gal's ... such gorgeous Strep's! They have to be one of the most beautiful flowers ever! Of course I'm loving the Sinningia's too. That Bonnie & Clyde is really cool!
av_ocd_girl: Lovely bloom on that AV 'Fun Trail' ... love the awesome color of that one!
I almost posted this on the OT thread of blooms that aren't Gesneriad's and then remembered it IS a gesneriad.

Lin, where ever did you find that awesome plant!!!!!!!
I tried to add Hey Mei. I don't think it loaded. Does it take a couple days?
Sally it usually takes a few days to appear from the time you submit it..Thanks for adding your gorgeous pic : )
OK, I did read that, I wasn't sure, thanks.
Thanks Ladies. I love the Chrysothemis. Some folks grow these in the ground down here in some areas of Florida. For a long time I had no idea it was a Gesneriad! I love the orangy-yellow flowers and the foliage too! I know they wouldn't survive a cold winter here in my area but they still make great house plants!
Gail: Our Home Depot's sell these in a 1 qt size pot for $3.99. I think they are Proven Winners brand. I will check in the next few days to see if they still have them, I'm sure they do as they always have a lot of the Proven Winners plants! I owe you big time for all the things you've sent me, so I will get one for you!
No, Lin, don't!!!! I just saw Proven Winners brand at one of our local places. Betty and I are going to go nursery shopping before she goes back...........let me look first..........you are too sweet to offer, but let me look first and thanks again.!!!!
Nancy thanks so much for that link, you made it so easy that I've just added my first picture to plant files! LOL I need to do a bunch of Kohlerias I have pictures of, maybe this winter??
AV Girl that is a very pretty trailer, I love the name, it fits the bloom!
Lin the dark green, very pretty foliage on that unusual gessie makes it a real looker. I'm going to the city tomorrow, I'll have to check out our Wal Mart and Home Depot as I'll be in there anyway, what a score that would be!
My sinn Cardinals that Rain sent as a young plant has grown and grown since last fall!

Brenda your Sinn Cardinalis looks wonderful..looks like a really happy plant...
Keep on posting your Wonderful Pics Everyone..I love seeing everyones pretties : )
Hope everyone has a Great Weekend
Whoa - beautiful blooms everyone! I better watch it or I will develop an addiction to sinninngias, too - they are gorgeous!
Cedarnest - beautiful streps! Roulette Cherry and Lily White are both on my wish list. I haven't seen many of Neil's streps - I have one (Neil's Blushing Bride). I got it free from a seller on ebay (it wasn't Neil, though). He seems to be occassionally selling a few on ebay off and on, but not too often. Is there another source for his streps?
Strep Michael
Oh, I just thought of something - I am going to the Kansas City Gesnariad Society's Plant Show and Sale in September. I have never been to a gesnariad show - what types of vendors do they usually have at a show that size? Will there mostly be locals or will some places like Brennan's Orchids or Rob's Violets be there? I am trying to decide how much to hold off on getting more streps now and maybe waiting and saving for that show.
Strep Michael is really gorgeous! Love the color on that one!
I've never attended a Gesneriad Society or AVSA Plant Show so I don't know what vendors would possibly be there. I hope someone comes along with that information.
I found a new bloom this morning! I got this in trade from bmedel/Brenda. This is Episcia 'Aloha Mauna Loa'.
Wow have I missed out on some beauties you are all showing... Wonderful job ladies.. Lin I love your tiny little plant... The one you sent me I am sorry to say finally gave in and died... :-( Jan nice to see you here... I did not know you were sick...I am hoping you are going to feel all better really soon....
I have to go golfing with the hubby and boys this afternoon but after that I am taking pictures to show you whats blooming here... A LOT...LOL I also loved your Michael strep as it is my youngest sons name and he moved out last weekend to start a new job... I went and bought one after you posted your first picture of it..LOL So I now have a Michael also...LOLOL Is there a place where you can get a list of names of streps? Like I found on that was named Kim so I bought it for Dimmer and myself so when I can't get her on the phone I can talk to her plant..LOLOLOL I love to put plants to names... When people send me plants then I consider them say Gail, Lin, Brenda,Nancy, Dimmer well I guess you get the idea...LOLOL
Ok have a question... As most of you know I don't really care for AV's but I would like to try to grow not from leaf but a small plant of a mini trailer av... So as Gail would say to me just ask if anyone has one they would like to give me so I could try my hand at that one... Well thanks for all of your ears... See you all this afternoon ....
Hugs,
Susan
Have fun Golfing Miss SusieQ ... I don't know how you do it in the heat of summer! I am not a golfer but I can't stand being out in the heat. We had temps of 99 on Thursday and with the humidity the heat index was over 100. It sure was miserable! I don't know how some folks live without air conditioning down here but they do! Heat never used to bother me but the older I get, the more I can't take it. I get overheated really quickly and my face will be beet red in a short time out in the heat!
Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend. Today is our 39th Anniversary and we are going to lunch at a seafood restaurant!
Happy Anniversary Lin... We just past our 33 :-) So I hope you and hubby have many more to come... It is not all that hot here yet today... And two of the 4 boys are home so we will all go... I dont play all the holes and on really hot days we bring a cooler with drinks in it .So I use the ice to cool me down... I just go to have the time with my family... I don't even keep score..LOL Hey Lin maybe that will be my new name SuzyQStreps...LOL
Hubby is now just getting off of work.. I am still in jammies...LOLOL Showing Mike how to seperate his laundry and how to use machines...LOL Told him Mom is not doing your clothes each weekend...LOLOLOL
Hugs,
Susan
SuzyQStreps ... What a great user name for you! I Love it!
We decided to wait and go out for dinner instead of lunch ... it's raining out now so I hope it stops before dinner time. We have had some really horrible storms in the evening hours the past couple of days! If we have the same this afternoon I will beg hubby to order pizza for our anniversary dinner! LOL. That's what we did on our 25th! We had been on vacation for a week and got home that day and were both so tired so we just ordered Pizza and chilled out on our 25th! But, we've never been big party people anyway, LOL.
I just had to take a picture of this plant. I had no idea I still had an Optimara Annabelle AV still alive. I only have two AV's on the plant stands that are just hanging on. I found this one on a shelf in the Florida room with a half dead philodendron and an aloe plant. Can't believe it's even alive with the heat and humidity out there and I have no clue when it got watered last! I thought it was really kinda unusual. Some of you who have grown the Optimara Annabelle and Isabelle probably know how they like to get the tall and lanky necks? Well, look at this gal .... I'm calling her my AV Annabelle Palm Tree! ^_^
Hi!
Beautiful plants your growing ladies! Strep Michael is a beauty, gotta get that one,my son's name is michael too.
Hi Nancy,I'm on the mend,Thanks.Every day is getting better and better.Man that R.Cherry is just calling me.I just NEED that one and Aruz...LOL. I will be glad when some of the vendors start selling them..Awesome pictures!
Hi Ya Susan,I'm getting better thanks.I have missed chattin with you!Have fun playing golf.
Awww Miss Lin,I got your card yesterday.Thank you for thinking of me,I sure do appreciate it.Dave's garden people sure are the best! Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby..39 year together amazing! The younger genaration should take some lessons.LOL
Hi Lyn
Just wanted to wish you and your hubby Happy Anniversary. You have 14 more years to catch up to me. BTW, I have some Cross vine cuttings rooting (or at least trying) for you.
I seem to see you on just about all the DG forums. ^_^ I checked out this AV forum because I just rescued three epicia from Wallyworld. Have no luck with AV any more. Two glox that I have growing from leaves are blooming now. When I lived in So. Fl,. I had the perfect spot for AVs. I had over 15 plants that just bloomed their heads off. Up here, I don't have the right light for them.
Thank you, Sallysblooms for the picture frame help. I decided to use Paint Shop Pro. It's much easier than Elements. Still learning though.
You bought the PSP? Great job! Pretty picture!
Sally, I worked for CompUSA for years and amassed quite a bit of software. Just before they closed the store where I worked, they had a special 'closing sale for employees'. I bought quite a bit of software. I bought Adobe PhotoShop Elements 6, Corel Paint Shop Pro X2, and I also bought quite a few games for my kids (over 40 kids). ^_^ The liquidator liked us employees and was very generous in her price to us.I never installed the photo software. I have Vista on both computer and notebook, and was using that mainly for organizing and red eye, until I saw your beautiful photos. I tried Elements, but I find it too confusing. So then I installed the Paint Shop program. It's much easier to use. Thanks again for the info. Do you use special fonts or just what came with program?
Thanks for the Anniversary wishes!
Eileen: That is an AWESOME photo! "Pinkie" is a beautiful plant! Congratulations to you and your hubby on 53 years! I sometimes am amazed that we've made it for 39. Marriage ain't easy is it? I always say it's a constant work in progress! Ok, now you gotta explain having over 40 kids, and how many grand kids do you have?
I am computer challenged so I've got to ask my DH about a program like what you and Sally have! I just love the frames on the photo's ... just seems to make them pop! We have Mac's in our house and I think I've heard hubby talk about paint shop but I'm not real sure. Anyway, y'all's pictures really are amazing! Great job!
Happy Anniversary, Lin! I missed out on a lot of this thread!
Somewhere I read that Susan wanted to grow mini av trailers?? If that is right, dmail me Susan....I have lots of them.......
Lyn, I should have made myself more clear. Over 40 kids meant over 40 years old. Thats what happens to this old brain. I figure eveyone speaks shorthand like I do.
I just saw for the first time Imadigger's great looking gloxinia! (or sinningia)
Paint shop pro was the first thing I ever learned to use.... When I got this computer I went looking for my disc and could not find it so I went and bought 9 I think then of course after I bought it I found the old one which was 7...LOL So if someone needs to borrow it to install let me know.... LOL
Imadigger that is a beautiful flower... Great job...
Hugs,
Susan
Digger, that is so neat to get the good deals. Fonts are fun. You can google for them. I have tons of tubes also for making things.
