Wrong shot up above...sorry. There is a path around my garden... it's really not so wild; you just can't see it from the angle I was at.

heres the shot I meant to send. white background and bees

Wow! Your pics keep getting better and better! I especially love that first shot you posted today!

Gorgeous! I love your eye for detail... like getting that great shot of the just-opening bud. Better & better, indeed! :-)

Thank you! It's been a real joy for me to watch how it's evolved.

I know it's off subject, but here was something I captured while following bees around in my coreopsis. Check out all the dead blooms...they look like little crowns. or like the inside of cable wire..each wire clearly visable. pretty neat, I thought.

its a month later and most of my sunflowers are looking pretty sad.
the bush ones are hanging in there....trying to keep going.

this bloom had bent over and was facing the ground. (but it was still over 6' tall.

Just as they were beautiful in full bloom, they still retain that unique-ness as they fade away. (i just hated to say die)

Aw, they're just entering the next phase of their beauty -- as bird food! Just wait until you see all those little songsters go nuts, hanging upside down and feasting on the seeds. Those blooms will look bright & beautiful all over again. :-)

true.. they better hurry...I'm about to start collecting seeds for next year.

I noticed of the seed I had, most of the 'bushy' ones were short (waist to chest high), but what's outliving everying is the tall AND bushy.

this is just one plant.

Very neat! I’ve been collecting seeds from mine the last few weeks. For some reason the finches are still nutty about eating the remaining sunflower leaves, but they don’t touch the seeds at all, even the totally dry ones I left for them.

it's as if the seeds are either falling or being eaten from the bottom up. It's starting to fold together, like a taco.

they're still amazing to me =)

Yes! We may not have a sunflowers forum here, but we didn't need one this summer... we had this thread! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Me also, Sunny....plus I've been ordering already!!!!!!! from select seeds, LOL LOL. Can you believe we got so many in that trade?

plus, one of the b'day goodies I grec'd is a big bag of SF seeds called 'cornucopia'.

i'm going to cut some of that last picture tomorrow and see how they do as cut flowers.

Okay give it girls ....best sources for SF seeds???

Cumberland Mtns, TN(Zone 6b)

nanny.... i found the seeds nuts and i was blessed with a mixed bag of seeds because i was a newbie to the group. I'll ask around and see.

i know from my looking, 'Annie's' has a lot of varieties. she's in CA. I saw several I want to order from 'Select Seeds'. Jungs catalog too.

i'm saving seeds, but it would be a guess at the names.

Will check them out...thanks!
