Last - sneaking up on the BF.
Garden Photos - Part 28
Great shots again today. Very cool shot of your friends wing Victor.
JoAnn I know what you mean about the monarda. Mine was new last year and not even one bloom, but this year it doubled in height and has been blooming like crazy. It will be done pretty soon now, but the wait was well worth it,although I did not think so last year. Funny how the same plants are different from year to year depending on the local weather conditions.
That is a strange looking thing WC. I have seen some really weird fungi the last few years around here too.
It's 6" tall & smells 'medicinal', but the color tells me "Danger". There are 2 of them, never seen anything like it before!
COOL. It's odd how we have an instinctive knowlege about fungi.
Danger color AND sword shape.
I believe that's called an Elegant Stinkhorn (talk about an oxymoron!), WC.
Sure looks like it Victor, Thanks! ☺

No problem. I've seem them while hiking.
Victor - gorgeous shots today! I love to see the hibiscus you have! I'm keeping an eye out for those caterpillars!
Nice shots from you too, Redchic! I love that spirea! What color are the flowers?
Pat - that Tiki Torch is so pretty, and I especially like the colors in the shot with the butterfly!
WC - what a cool mushroom! I got some (not so great) shots of some bright yellow, red and purple mushrooms as we were walking along the lake......Here are the bright yellow ones.....
Thanks, Louise. Your well garden looks well!
Well, thank you, Victor! LOL
Well, I'll be....!!
Thanks Louise, the one with the BF is TT. The last one was supposed to be another TT but was mislabeled. It is a more pinky orange instead of pumpkin orange and has smaller thinner petals. Maybe 'Sundown'.
Very pretty!
Great photos, folks--loved the crape myrtle---cannot grow them here--Jo Ann--liked the mystery echie, whatever it is! I know why we have so much fungus--weather today said CT has over 4" surplus of rain this month---add that to the rainiest June! Here are some plain old tiger lilies that grew 6' this year.
Pretty pictures! And I finally have some! Apparently my "wildlife" bed that I started last year is a late July bloomer. Gotta work on that.
I also didn't realize that most of my rudbeckia wouldn't survive but would reseed themselves. I let them grow and now I'm reaping the rewards. I did have to thin them out as they were crowding some plants, though they are still dwarfing them!
I think in this shot is one of the actual perennial kinds
Here's that same clethra. I planted it this year, and I got a nicely shaped and full one. It is planted just beyond the edge of my pondless "pond", and is helping ground that boulder.
Clethra leafs out REALLY late, to the point where you wonder why you have it. But then it blooms and you love it. So I recommend it, but not front and center (esp around here where it didn't *begin* to leaf out until end of May or early June!).
Very nice, Evie. I'm a big fan of clethra too. Wonderful scent that really fills the garden.
Sherrie you welcome, glad you like it...I think it's 'Oranges & Lemons' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/122921/ looked it up in my sales slips....its actually 'Prairie Sun' you are right Sherri! LOL
