Happy Belated Birthday Pirl! Your gardens are beautiful!
A view in Yosemite.
Happy Birthday, PIRL!!!
Great shot, Deb. Obviously before the fires. Hope they can stop them soon!
Thanks Victor. We did see some burned forest areas, yes let's hope they end soon.
Thanks, Debbie. Wonderful shot. People miss so much by not going to our National Parks.
Oh, wow! That's beautiful Deb. I agree pirl.
You should see it in person ! It's breath taking !
I will! I will! You bet I will! Soon!
My favorite vacations involve a National Park.
Mine too. I loved Yosemite, but only spent two days. So far my favorite all-time vacation was Yellowstone.
Too hard for me to choose. Grand Canyon was spectacular but Acadia in the fall is so hard to beat.
Never been to GC yet, and only saw Acadia in the summer. Only been to four parks so far - the three mentioned plus Great Smoky.
The Great Smoky Mountain NP was glorious in February (of '73 before many DG people were even born!) but too foggy to allow full travel within it.
I've been to quite a few so far - each one is spectacular. I think our next destination is Washington/Oregon.
The Tetons are unique - but I can't pick one I like better than others.
I have not seen a single NP. We have grandiose plans to RV across country heading eventually to Alaska. Right now it's just in the dreaming stage, but oh would I love to take a year and do that!
So far my favorite spot is Franconia Notch in NH.
Nance, you've never been to Acadia????? You come to Maine so often!!
Yeah, it is hard to pick a favorite because they are all so different and each has something different to offer. I think the reason I love the Tetons so much goes far beyond just the superficial place. Every now and then something or someplace has a profound impact - whether it's emotional, spiritual, etc. I think we all experience that at some time or another. All those memories and emotions are inextricably tied to our love of a certain place. I plan to go back next year - but I'm almost afraid. What if it's not the same and it ruins the wonderful memories I have?
Nance, keep that dream alive. Alaska is one of, if not the most magnificent place I've ever been. Everything is so big, it makes one feel tiny!
I agree, it's hard to pick a favorite. The Grand Tetons are spectacular!!! Glacier NP in Montana is alsoon the short list.
WA/OR Crater Lake, the coastline in OR. ( a MUST stop is the Tillamook Dairy they have a tour and some really great ice cream), Mt. Hood of course, Mt. St. Helens ( very interesting to see the comeback after the volcano), Mt. Rainier.
I've always wanted to see the peninsula and Puget Sound, too. Maybe someday. My oldest's family lives outside of Portland so we've been a few times. In fact I'm going out 8/11 - 8/18. Can hardly wait. DH is going to be Mom's caregiver that week. He is the best!!! Granted an aide comes in the morning to get her dressed etc. My brother will also come down for a couple of days and my DS and DDIL will help out too. They live around the corner. I've already gone to the NW forum to ask for ideas of gardens to visit in Portland and nurseries also. My DDIL out there would like to do some landscaping. WHEE!
Great shot, Christina. Yes, all those are on my list - GT, Olympia, Glacier and all the Alaska ones. I like Franconia Notch too.
Throwing snowballs on July 1st, on an ice field in Alaska, is permanently etched into my brain. The pilot was kind enough to take photos of us playing in the snow and yet we weren't cold at all - warm in fact.
Would love that right now! They're having record cool temps this year.
Isn't that awful, Celeste? We haven't been up since early spring. Darn gas prices!
Alaska in summer sounds like heaven. Good for all of you who have had that opportunity!
We came home after that trip to find Hollyhocks that reached the gutters and thought we must have brought home some of that Alaskan ever present sun magic. Two days later a sudden summer storm whizzed through and the same Hollyhocks were knocked down to 3' tall.
oh I have never been to any of those parks... but I am planning for Acadia this Fall... got to fix that!
Oh My, Pirl......I go away for a few days and you go and have a birthday on me!! So sorry I'm just now seeing your thread. I hope you have been having the very best extended birthday possible! I miss so much seeing your posts on the threads and hope you know how much you mean to all of us and how much we always learn from you. All the best to you!!

Most likely. I'd never have thought of it, Pixie.
Well I still want you to guess...you have way more experience than me!
Very pretty, whoever she is.
I'd say you have the right name for it, Pixie.
nice one!!!! oh I have Fairy Tale roses! what a neat combination!
Oh, Yay! Another mystery NOID solved!! Thank you Pixie and Pirl! I could actually keep you two busy full time with my NOIDS....I could even start a "Name that Daylily" contest thread to keep you two out of trouble! LOL And by the way, Pirl, hope you are still having a happy birthday since this is YOUR thread!!
The guy came and repaired the CAC so I'm nice and cool and that's enough reason to celebrate.
Congrats!
Cool! (pun intended) LOL
How easily we get used to it and what a sissy I felt like without it.
