ngam, I laughed and laughed at the donut rain "hole" I'm right there with you. Have you ever watched the weather channel or the weather internet to follow the radar? I've become addicted and watch the green split or dissappear a couple of miles before my house. Agh! My other half says we live in a sweet spot. No bad weather. I say we live in a dry spot. Not exactly the spot a gardener wants to be.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 27
We finally got a little bit of rain, I need to get out there and see if it helped any.
We had 2 rain showers blow thru felt like FL, where it rains on the 1 side of the rd and not the other.
Supposed to be a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l weekend, which is good cause I need to get the yard ready for my daughter's 2nd b-day party next Saturday.
My husband said the cordless phone was safe in a T-storm--huh--guess he's trying to get rid of me! Sorry about yours, Louise--glad you weren't on it! And Sherri--how scary--weatherperson says if you can hear thunder, you can be struck--stay in! We had really dark skies & wind, but the rain only wet the drive a little--can't believe there was no downpour today!
It was too shortlived to help here. I hope your rain was more legit than mine. But the weekend IS supposed to be great. I even told other half that I wanted to go to the beach tomorrow. I rarely, very very rarely, go to the beach on weekends.
I NEVER go down the shore on the weekends. I hardly ever go in the summer, I go in May or September when kids are in school. We had a tradition of going on New Year's Day every year, nobody out there at that time.
rain, rain and rain. I wish I could send some over to those of you who want it.
Jen, let me know when you're coming in September. You could even stop and divide and dig if you want something. I LOVE September at the beach! It is the time to take time for yourself. The sun is less harsh, the ocean is doing whatever it wants (never swim alone, I learned this the hard way) the tourists are gone..It is nature's beauty and bounty
Exactly! That is what happens all the time when they are moving west to east. I have a better chance at getting a storm or rain if there is a front moving down from the NW. It is maddening to see them just disappear right on my doorstep or even worse split in to two and one goes north and one goes south.
Today ended up being a pretty nice day. Kassia came for some quiet time in the country and we had a great time - even with a little bit of rain. She gave me a lesson on how to trim my roses, and we sat on the porch and watched the rain and a hummingbird who fell in love with her and flirted with her all day.
I think the rain will be around on and off for a few more days, but I don't mind it without the thunder and phone wreckage.
I thought I was the only one living in a donut hole. It is maddening to watch the radar and get excited then to have hopes dashed. I'm to the point when they say rain in the forecast I say I'll believe it when I see it. Despite no rain - today really was a wonderful day. low humidity, a breeze. Dh is having a camp-out in the yard with DGS who turns 4 next week. It is delightful tonight current temp 70
DH wants to go to Ocean City the Sat. after Labor Day. fewer people - yay. His sister lives there.
Ooooo .... Everyone is so late today ..... Never expected to be first of the day!! Nice until tonight; serious rains expected later after 8PM.

Still only 69ºF out now. Nice temp for yard work.
After 3+ days of rain it is good to see the sun. We need to get the iris plants into the garden before they dry out. One more shipment to com.
60 this morn. It's been sun and clouds all day but dry. Had some boomers last night and a beautiful rainbow right before sundown. I took a picture from the second story window just as it was starting. Then I ran down stairs to tell my Dad(he's 83) and we went out onto the deck and watched it. I left my camera upstairs so I missed a really good pic of it. If you look close you can faintly make it out! It's about 6 miles away but I zoomed the best I could!
Sue :)
It was downright cold last night---had to close the windows--low 70's today, nice breeze, but cold again at night for the next week---doesn't do much for the peppers & eggplant!
Nice, Sue--this seems to be the summer of rainbows--hope it's lucky for all of us!
What a great, sleep with the windows open night, LOVED IT! What a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l day high of 82. I was actually able to have the windows open all day long.

Just had about 15 min of rain. A Tstorm moved through. I wanted to run out and dance in it, but it was a Tstorm. It actually rained. I can hardly believe it.
Current temp 75.
Just got very dark and I hear distant rumblings. Could be headed this way.
We're in the middle of a very unusual t-storm here. The thunder is that huge, rumbling, shakes the whole earth kind, and very close (less than a mile) - but not a drop of rain!
Its comming just wait
ooooowoooo spooooky
brrrrrrrr ..... where're my woolies.
Here, it was clear and warm one minute, then (~ 9:30) BANG! Huge clap and torrential downpour .... then it got dark ...... and has been raining ever since. Some serious thunder.

That IS a spooky picture, pixie. Makes me think (gasp!) Halloween, already.
It's raining! AGAIN!!!!!!!! Day # 5 or is it 6??
Still no rain here, but the rumbling continues. I don't think I can ever recall a t-storm this close with no rain. The sky is even blue in spots.
Yes, it's raining now, but not torrential. DH called to say it was hailing where he works, about 20 minutes NE of here. He took his motorcycle to work today and is on his way home now. I offered to go get him...stubborn man said no! Hope that hail isn't heading this way...what a crazy summer we've had!

Very dark here this pm, but no storm--we are under a watch til 7pm--no--thunder just now! Must get the tranq into the airedale!
We had some more rain this afternoon. Tstorms with hail about the size of a marble. I've never seen hail that big before.
Still doing a happy dance for the rain. DH won't have to water for a couple of days now, since I'm going to see DGKs. He volunteered to take care of Mom this week. What a GUY!!!
It's been black as coal here all day with constant earth-shaking rumbling thunder-storms most of the day, now its just dark with occasional rumbles and light rain. I LOVe this weather. You guys have inspired me to keep a daily records of clouds. Just clouds. I will upload them here soon. Blessings to all!
