Night shot of DL.
Garden Photos - Part 27
what is the crystal fountain... very pretty bloom
I love the deep rose color of the Crystal Fountain, Victor. Very pretty.
Nice blooms Victor and thanks!! My pic is Double Ethel!! I chose this daylily because of the name - my father's nickname for my mother was either Ethel (from I Love Lucy) or Edith (from Archie Bunker). It depended on his mood which he called her. If he was acting like Archie he called her Edith and if he was acting like Fred he called her Ethel!! Eleanor
Lovely bloom, Eleanor!
Kathleen:
That's a gorgeius hollyhock.
Here’s the start of the stargazers. Love to see these bloom, I start anticipating in June but it’s bittersweet because I know when there’re done summer is almost over and my best flowers are finished for the season.
Thanks for the new thread Victor, good old dial up has trouble viewing after 300. I’m with Allison, what is crystal fountain.? Very pretty, I love the color and oh kopper king, I’ve got to get me one.
Beautiful DL Eleanor, My father did the Ethel thing too, somehow I got stuck with Lucy, when he wasn’t calling me Grace (wonder why).
Kathleen, That’s a great shot of the Hollyhock, very pretty.

Nice shots all. I have tried twice with the CK hibiscus Victor w/o success, yours looks pretty. Crystal Fountain also looks really good and I like your night shot of the DL.
Nice combo of soft colors on your DL Eleanor and a lovely story to go with it.
Very interesting HH Kathleen. I love it when old plants are passed down from one generation to the next, keeps wonderful old flowers blooming for the ones still to come.
This is the first year that my RW monarda have bloomed. They are almost done now, but I really like them and so do the bees, b-flies and hummers. Even the leaves before they bloom are pretty as in your pic.
Donna your Stargazers look very happy and I agree by the time they are done the fall flowers will already be starting to take over. I got some cannas and calla tubers too but they never got planted. Yours are very pretty.

Sad times are comming.
Second week of Aug. I have seen the first fall leaf on the ground.
Lucky me this year all the Asiatic bulbs I planted in May are about to bloom in August, we can hope a little longer.
And it seems as though we have just gotten started!
We have to continue to think positive.
Beautiful lilies and Agastache
I esp. like the phlox? in the background, ngam .... I need to get more of those. I have some from great grandma's garden that is just about coming into bloom.
Good morning - very nice shots! Crystal Fountain is a clematis. Love the hollyhocks, lilies and the callas. Speaking of fall, some river birches near me are dropping leaves! Must be water stress.
Yes I think you are correct Victor. During our mini drought here we had leaves losing green from many birches and maples, and dropping too. Lack of rain and high humidity have also made asters and mums knees and ankles look really yucky. Any pics of what you all use to hide nasty knees on plants?
Yes, I hate that look too. My Joe Pye have them this year. It's the reason I stopped growing veronica. They always had those ugly brown legs.
AHHHH The River Birch
Love Hate relationship with that tree.Looks beautiful,so graceful BUT.
We have one at the corner of the garage. Every month we are treated to one form of trash or another dropping from it and tracking into the house.
Catkins in spring then seeds, then leaves and constantly all year long with no let up, branches in various sizes.
I would not have one if my life depended on it.
love all the pretty shots
holy cow
OMG Sherri that’s a big boy.
Joann, nice collage, there fun to make.
Thanks Victor, I should have known Crystal Fountain was a clem.
No problem, Donna. Sherrie, how about one with your hand and the shovel?^_^
Edited to say that those ARE amazing!
