Goodness Betty... you even managed to think of Baby Oil!!!
How could the bride be disappointed. Those glasses are one of a kind and they're professionaly done. I for one would be overjoyed with great work of art.
This is my first year to grow lilies too. Love their scent.
Starfighter here.

Correcting myself...first time in growing Orientals and Asiatics. Their scent is out of Omar Khayyam!!
This here's my favorite, been posted elsewhere, but need to share again.

I plant them enmasse, and their combined scent draws anyone from at least 15ft. away. When the wind's blowing..good Lord, attack on the sinuses!!

I encountered the MOST fragrant Lilies I have ever seen while in Latvia.
Took pictures---Posted them on the Mid Atlantic, and in one day had the ID. They are available in the US from several different Nurseries.
Here's the description of them:

*****************************************************************

Chinese Trumpet Lilies
The introduction of the Regale Lily from China in the early 20th century gave rise to these popular Chinese Trumpet Lilies, also known as Aurelian Hybrid Lilies. They should be planted in a less windy area and staked due to their tremendous height and huge flowers. They are a perfect cut flower (so add some to your cutting garden) and are terrific at the back of perennial beds. Harvested in mid-October, we ship Chinese Trumpet Lilies in mid to late October, just as soon as they arrive in our warehouse from the harvest. Top size bulbs: usually 18/20 cm. Height: 4' to 6'. Bloom time: July/August. Plant 6" deep and 12" apart. Horticultural zones 4-8.

Here's a picture of them from Latvia.....Had them in a vase and in the evening it just blew me away with the fragrance. Might give some a headache.....

Here's a link someone provided where to get them.....They ARE in the PF!

wow look at those lily's..just got back from Midland, needed thread for the jeans..at Walmart they just had closed their plant area and the shrubs left, well they discounted maybe $1.00 and they were looking half dead..headed over to Home Depot, wouldn't you know they were just closing the metal gate in their greenhouse - closed at 7:00...maybe that was a good thing..lol

Sailor's barking, someone must be here..off I go...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lady from the store, wanted to see wine glasses..ooops already picked up...she fell in love with the diaper cake thought...

Deborah, could not find a cardboard cake slab to put under the cake, so purchased at Home Depot a 2' x 2' thin mdf board, cut it circular and painted with one of the colors in the theme..1 dowel- not the smallest, next size up cut in 3 did the job..makes it secure..just have to be careful not to puncture the diaper when putting it in, so I put layer 1, inserted the dowels, then carefully moving the diapers put it through layer 2 and 3 and 4..now while at Walmart I couldn't resist the little angel - has booties same color as the theme and you touch her and it says 'now I lay me down to sleep' adorable and a steal for $8.98...

So going to have a bath, forgot to have lunch or supper..restaurant is open till 10 could order something but think I'll just make a cucumber sandwhich, wrap the gift with celophane then it will be bedtime..

Don't you all agree I've earned it..lol...

You guys all have me hooked on lily's..maybe tomorrow morning I'll go to Vasey - the lily farm up the road, maybe I'd better wait for next week's paycheck...or not...

Hope you've enjoyed your day just as much as I've enjoyed mine....

Victoria Harbour, ON

went back and looked at the lily's..omg the colors are vibrant..

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Betty I am hooked on hosta as you know and I was not going to get hooked on Lilies. Big HA HA!!!!! already got me and cannas too. I have got to quit, quit, quit. I have this terrible sickness now and I was cutting down. YEAH HUGS BEV

If I had the money I spent on plants I probably could visit you all..lol..hey now that's an idea......I could just enjoy all your gardens....

One can have worse habits or addictions can't they...if that's all the harm I do in life is my spending on my crafts and gardens then I've not done badly...

must go give another coat of paint to the tray..

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Well I am in complete awe of the lilies, my gosh they are some gorgeous colors and varieties. I will have to get some more, I only have candy lilies and day lilies.

I also should make Alysha one of those diaper cakes, she would like it but because she does not know if she is coming here or if she is going to move or stay at her dads, she is storing a lot of stuff, so she may not know what to do with the diapers in storage or have to disassemble it anyhow. I am not sure, it so nice though. Maybe for my ds 's girlfriend.

If we are doing Lilies--may I share some of mine? Don't know names of any of these, I just enjoy them....

Nice and pink...

These are an old variety--I think. These are the ones I "stole/rescued" from my neighbor's house before the new owners moved in. Should have been more bold! They have cut down, dug up, and destroyed everything growing there....He's an idiot! NOT a gardener. All he wants is grass and nothing near the house. They are from Pakistan, and the MAN rules! Even if he does not know what he is doing.....The wife and daughter LOVE gardens and flowers--but they cannot speak against him.

So sad! And I have to witness all this!

My other neighbors yellow Lilies. They have been in the same spot forever!

oh goodness, I've been planting the wrong things, this year I've planted over 20 hosta's..I know, a piddlance compared to you guys and only bought 3 lily's, but I'll catch up - promise....

Mother Nature isn't sure what what kind of day she wants to give us, so with the cake wrapped, housework done, I've the sewing machine out and ready to mend jeans...but not before I had a wonderful thought...brother wanted to pay me and I said NOPE...sister can do something for free right, am sure you all feel same, anyway, he has a woodworking shop to die for and I want rustic looking frames for the windows that I'm faux painting (well not painting right this minute-showed you the curtains I had painted and never had time to do more-but now I'm on a mission) and I need frames, why not trade him..I'll pick up wood this week, drop it off, know he's working long hours but at some point in time he can make them..maybe one night I'll drop in and we'll do them together..now there is a plan..together time..just realized he went to specialist Fri. aft and I didn't even ask how it went..scatter brain..better go do that now...

Then the 2nd project I would enjoy just playing with is the old table and chairs out in the secret garden...I don't want to do much because they get weather beaten but I want to do checkerboard pattern on the seats, a few vines and then the back, just paint the odd knob a color..shower is at 2:00 - 4:00 so not sure how much I'll get done .. I enjoy challenging myself...but then you guessed that right?

Hey Deborah, .you get lost at Walmart picking up baby items....lol
What are all of you planning today...do you have good weather??? am hoping you enjoy your day, sure wish you all lived closer...truly mean that...

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

This Liliy is growing between the RR tie that is in the back of my corner bed and the fence of my back-yard neighbor. It is very crowded--but I love the bloom. Should dig it up and plant it elsewhere....

Gita, your gardens are beautiful as well...I love the red/orange ones..that is the color I'm most missing in my garden...Friday on my way home from work I'll pick up a few at Gatrix Lily Farm..but first I'll make sure Suzanne takes my wallet and I ONLY have $50. on me...

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi all! Getting ready to go to church. Gita your red lily looks like my "Romantic Returns" They are all beautiful. That yellow one is to die for!!. BEV

Makes a nice statement Gita..I'd leave it...isn't that sad that both women love gardening and cannot..would be heartbreaking wouldn't it NOT to do anything you want to do...freedom..we underestimate it don't we...

Guess that's the somewhat 'bonus' for we who are alone, a tradeoff of sorts, to be able to do nothing, or everything when we want to..not that I couldn't before but you always had to keep another human beings interest in mind...and I was a 'server' a 'pleaser' so I never thought much about doing something that I wanted to do first...but now I'm older maybe I'm not as generous...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Bev, going to the trailer after Church???? How's that precious 'furry friend' of yours..Scott let you pet him from time to time??? bet you are seeing growth already...

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Yes, Betty--Our singlehood and the freedom it provides sure is a trade-off for other things we had....at least I feel that way. My "single life" was not my choice! He just walked out...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Going back to a baby shop today to pick up a few little finishing touches. Hope I can "bake" this cake.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning girls,
Loving the lily show...
I have several more to come into bloom yet.
I think Oriental lilies are my favorite flower.
Power was off for almost two hours yesterday..of course sump won't work without power..basement flooded..
This is a time when I would like to have a man around LOL.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

If I may...............These are not from my garden, but while i was in Latvia, we walked into one of the OLD churches and they were having a Lily Show in the vestibule (entrance??). I took pictures of them all. Since it was dark, my flash was going off. I think a flash "washes out" the colors a bit, so imagine everything a bit darker, deeper colors, and more intense colors.

Will do this quickly--no comments.....
